My old-fashioned food scale finally quit so I decided to join the world of digital scales this weekend. I got one that had the nutrition read out on it - and absolutely love it! I don't have to guess or put a lot of work into figuring out carbs, calories, sugars, etc in foods. I just type in the food's preprogrammed # and put the food on the scale and it does the work for me. I wish I would have gotten one sooner!!

That being said, I should have used my new scale to weight more healthy foods today!! I had a major sweet tooth and even had some ice cream (it was Braum's Carb Watch Chocolate Pecan, so it wasn't too bad)! Oh well..I know if I don't have a "treat" every now and then that I will go crazy and binge so I won't worry about it. Tomorrow is another day!!!

    I agree whole heartedly we all need that little bit of a treat. I induldge on a Mars Bar mmmmmmm they are my downfall emoticon yum

    Now that sounds like a really great kitchen gadget. Mine just gives the weight - nothing else. Now that is boring! And I agree about the treat every now and again. Without it we start feeling really deprived and then we kind of give up.

    I didn't know they had a scale that did such a thing! Going to have to look for one. It's not such a bad thing to treat yourself once in a while.

I've wanted to write a blog for a while now, but never knew where to start or how to start it. There are days when my mind is clear, everything is going right, and I'm truly happy. There are other days when I let things get the best of me - the aches, pains and other side effects of my hypothyroidism, the doubts, insecurities and sadness of my chronic depression (I've had it for years now), and the other challenges within my marriage and family.

I can say that since I've made exercise a priority in my daily life, I have more good days than bad. It feels so good to get done walking in the morning with my two big dogs - Angel is a 2 1/2 yr old, 75 pound black lab/heeler/border collie mix and Sissy Rockband (named by my then 4 year old) is a 1 yr old, 60 pound black lab/staffordshire terrier mix. I live out in the country so for most of our walk it's just me, the dogs and gravel roads. I do a lot of thinking during those walks and it helps me clear my head for the day. I'm at the point now that if I don't walk or don't walk as far (we usually walk 5 miles) then I feel like something is missing. I would recommend making exercise a part of anyone's day...I forgot that something as simple as walking my dogs could really have a big impact on my outlook for the day.

Now it's time to get some sleep and get ready for another day!

    Just wanted to drop by and say HI! Walking is such good exercise and a time to clear your head. I am sure the dogs keep good company. I wish I could have one as well. Good luck on this months challenge!
