I'm a size 12!

Wednesday, June 27, 2012

I just bought a pair of size 12 jeans shorts today and they fit perfectly! I used to barely fit into size 12 so this is definitely a huge step for me. Here's proof:

Today was a great day. Had a day off from work and went shopping. I also went for a walk/jog in the evening with my boyfriend. Now it's already 1 a.m. and time for me to get some sleep. Hope you all had a great day!!

Midsummer Madness & Updated Goals

Sunday, June 24, 2012

Oh my goodness, what a weekend! I had such a wonderful time celebrating traditional Finnish Midsummer with my boyfriend. I decided not to track my meals this weekend because I felt like I needed a couple of days off, and now I'm so motivated to get back to my usual, healthy daily routine. I've planned my meals for the upcoming week and tomorrow morning we're going grocery shopping for all kinds of healthy foods. I'm a little nervous to weigh myself tomorrow morning though. I hope I haven't gained weight. But if I have, I know it's only temporary and I can fix it by eating a little lighter and exercising a little more for the next few days. Not the end of the world!

I also decided to readjust my weight loss goals a little this weekend. I've been thinking about it for a while and now I decided to do something about it. My original weight loss goal was 55 kilos (about 123 lbs) but now I decided that it might be a little too low for me. I like being curvy and I like my shape a lot these days. I don't want to lose my hips or my booty for that matter. I used to be around 120 lbs when I was 16 and I wasn't curvy at all. I just want to get more toned, lose a little bit more weight and see if I feel satisfied with that. My new goal is 60 kilos (about 132 lbs). When I get there, I'll see how I feel about it.

I'm ready for the new week! I hope you all had a great weekend :)

Here are a few pictures that were taken on the weekend at the cottage. These were taken around 2 a.m. See how light it still was out?

I say just stop trying to lose weight when you're happy with your body. I suppose you kind of have a general idea because you were 120 at one point, but that was probably also before all of the puberty changes occurring, ie bigger hips, bigger bust, etc. My goal is approximately 132 pounds. I arbitrarily chose that number because it's within the normal range for BMI and also means that I would have lost 100 pounds! But, I might be happy with being 135 pounds, or I might be happy with being 125 pounds. So I'm aiming for somewhere around 130. My maintenance weight will probably be 125-135. I really don't know! I'm just going to see what my new body will look like and stop there! The thing is...I don't know how to stop! Will that require going to the gym less? Will it require eating more? My final reward for myself will be seeing a nutritionist to help me figure this out! Just 25-35 more pounds to go! We can do it!!

Happy Midsummer everyone! (Pics)

Friday, June 22, 2012

Today, we're celebrating Midsummer Day here in Finland. It's a huge celebration and my boyfriend and I always spend it at the lake cottage. We always have a barbecue, go swimming and heat up the sauna. We go for walks in the countryside and enjoy the beautiful summer day. When it gets dark (and it barely does because of what is called the nightless night) we make a bonfire and sit on the beach watching the fire.

I wish you could all share this with me! This is one of my favorite days of the year.

Here are some pictures:

Today, I'm not counting calories (but not going overboard either!).I'm just going to enjoy the day and relax.

I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

I have long dreamed of having a mountain cabin and a beach cottage. Hmm, how much would it cost me to fly to Finland and visit yours and see you two? emoticon I have a hard time picturing not having darkness. Is that difficult to adjust to? Loved the pictures. Pretty colored dress. -- Lou

4 months and 28 pounds gone!

Sunday, June 17, 2012

It's been four months since I started this journey. It was the day after Valentine's Day and I was at my highest weight of 190 lbs. I remember feeling miserable that day. I went shopping for new jeans and nothing looked good on me. I can still remember the way I felt when I saw my reflection in the dressing room mirror. THAT CAN'T BE ME!!! But I knew it was, and I was so sad, so disappointed in myself for not taking care of my body. I decided it was about time I did something about it and changed my life for the better! The thought was so clear and I felt something just click. I went home, logged into SparkPeople, made a pledge to myself to become healthy - and I never looked back!

I have now lost almost 30 pounds since then. Slow and steady! I'm making progress and learning new things every day. Looking back, I can't even begin to explain the ways in which my life has changed for the better! I am a whole new person today as I'm writing this. I have a lot more confidence, I feel beautiful and strong and healthy, I look forward to working out and no longer spend hours on end watching TV. I no longer have intense anxiety and I haven't had anxiety attacks in months. It's not just the visual change, it's so much more! I look different, sure, but I FEEL SO DIFFERENT as well!!

I'm looking forward to making progress in the months that follow and losing more weight and inches. I feel so confident that I can reach all my goals - weight related and otherwise - and I'm excited about this new life I have built for myself!

Here is a summary of my progress so far:

Waist: 33.5 inches (3.2 inches lost)
Hips: 42.1 inches (3.5 inches lost)
Bust: 42.1 inches (3.2 inches lost)
Thigh: 25.6 inches (2 inches lost)
Upper arm: 14.4 inches (1 inch lost)

Weight: 162 lbs (28 lbs lost)

This month, my goal was to fit into a skirt that was too tight a month ago when I tried it on, and I did!!! Here's proof!!!

Next month, my goal is to lose 8 pounds and hopefully lots of more inches! I'm continuing to learn about nutrition and I'm going to stay active every day, and keep working on the 5 K Your Way challenge. I can't wait to get out of the 160's and move onto new challenges!
