Sping Bootcamp Challenge

I was very pleased to discover that SP is organizing a Spring Bootcamp! I participated in the first Jan 1 Bootcamp and managed to stay with it for about 2 weeks. I was so out of shape that it was hard to completely execute the cardio videos. Also, it was brutally cold and wet outside, so adding fitness walks a few times a week was nearly impossible.

This time will be different! I just finished the Day 1 kickboxing video (entirely) after my morning walk/jog of 42 minutes! The Spring Challange officially starts Sunday, May 1. And SP is offering an Amazon giftcard.

I also (gulp!) weighed myself and measured my waist and hips. Maybe if I start seeing results in a couple of weeks, it'll help motivate me.

Gym Membership

It's been two weeks since I joined 24Fitness. I joined for a couple of reasons.... first, it's getting just way too hot in Houston to jog outside (miserable, in fact). Money's tight, so I also knew that if I paid for it, I would be geared toward making it worth that monthly fee. Next, I tend to be kind of isolated, so I thought a gym membership might help me meet a couple of workout buddies.

I'm really surprised at myself - I have gone to the gym 7 out of 14 days! If I can maintain that level of dedication for 3 months, I will bump it up to 5 days a week. I know that anything you do for 21 days will become habit.... so the next 7 days is critical. And I haven't even wandered into the class territory yet... so I think that there's enough to help me stay motivated!!!

I KNOW that exercise is the key for me getting and staying healthy. My diet is tweaked, just gotta MOVE everyday.....

Good for you sweetheart!! Stay with it!

Warmer Weather

As the warmer weather approaches, I find that my desire to run, play and get in shape is increasing. My bicycle has had a flat tire for 3 years and I stopped by a bike shop yesterday to get a new inner tube. The plan is to work on it Saturday morning. I like to ride ~ it's not exercise to me.... fun!

Sometimes I take Zoe (mini-Schnauzer) on lease with me - she loves it!

I'm looking forward to this weekend! :)

    That is so cool that you will fix your bike after 3 years. I think that is a huge accomplishment!
I'm glad youre enjoying the outdoors. Here the heat is beginning to be a bit opressive. Definitely time for the pool :)

Reality Check

I need a Reality Check. While I have been exercising more, drinking less alcohol and trying to eat less ~ I KNOW I can do much better. I have lost 3 pounds, and some of that roll of middle fat ~ I KNOW I can do much better.

So WHY don't I? WHAT is the mind-body connection? WHEN will I get that connection? HOW do I get that connection?

One thing I DO know for certain: Consistency is the key. It's what you do every day and continue to do.

Stay on it!

    It does not hurt to take baby steps. Just continue to take them and you'll keep getting closer to where you want to be exercise and food wise. In other words you don't have to increase your exercise to an hour a day if you're only doing fifteen minutes. If you keep adding 5 minute increments it will add up faster than you think.

Jumpstart the New Year!

I have been determined - just one thing since before Thanksgiving - to not GAIN weight over the holidays. Just maintain. So far, so good. I have splurged - a total of 3 pumpkin and 2 pecan pie slices over six weeks. And a couple of candy canes - that's it. I've been keeping to a salad for one meal a day.

Well, I'm off work until Monday, January 4, 2010. And I have to decided to jump-start my fitness/diet program by working out every day I'm off. Day two and I feel so much better!

I haven't been to work out since JULY due to a major foot injury. It's funny - I still can't power-walk, but I can jog. My therapist said that's because walking uses the toes and jogging uses the calf muscles.... strange! But so far, it's working! I just have pain when I'm walking to warm up, but once I start to jog, I'm fine. I did 1.5 miles yesterday, 2 today and hope to work back up to 4 miles by 1/4/10.

You go, girl!

    You did really well over the holidays with eating. Congratulations on jump starting yourYears exercise program. Way to go! I'm glad you're gettig better.
