Three Good Qualities Money Can't Buy

Monday, October 15, 2012

There are some characteristics we are drawn to more than others; certainly more we are attracted to. Do we often see them in ourselves? Do we value them? If we do, is it because others do, too?

I am old-fashioned. In all areas of my life. I believe in good, core values. Here goes ~ three things I love about myself.

1. I have a strong, dedicated take-ownership work ethic. If I say I'm going to do it - I will communicate what, how, where and when. And by gosh, I'll die trying. MY WORD MEANS SOMETHING.

2. I am a dedicated, loyal friend to the end. I will help, I will listen, I will coach, I will cry. I have 7 friends that I have had for over+40 - 30 years each. Life friends. We have weathered bad boyfriends, weddings, being a godparent, divorces, breast cancer, parental deaths. We all still love each other. A FRIEND FOR LIFE.

3. I am comfortable in my own skin. I eat at nice restaurants alone. I travel alone. I live alone. I go to the symphony alone. I am my best friend. I look to myself for strength, encouragement, discipline and fun! It's not how old you are ..... but how you are old. If I don't like something I can change it, because it's all up to me. I ENJOY ME.

Well, that wasn't as hard as I thought!

Im alot like that. Lost touch with all my lifetime friends over something stupid.... Gained weight and need breast reduction. That sounds so vain but everyone was used to me being a model and put me on a pedestal. I know its my own insecurities and other things . They would still love me Im sure but have lost touch for so long. Ive cried over it. I miss them. Sure ..Ive made new friends but.. What im sayin is I have always been a true friend and my word is worthy and i have worked my butt off making my clients feel better(massage therapist) and i love it. I love giving. Also i dont mind one bit dining by myself..movies by myself.. Travel.. Anything!!! I love your blog first because i can relate and second because your keeping in touch with your old friends. Something so dear to me that after my breast reduction i intend to do. I miss them !!! God bless you!!!

I've Hit The Wall

Tuesday, October 09, 2012

You read about it. You hear about it. You listen about it. Until you have actually experienced it, you truly do not understand the frustration it causes. Sure, the experts admit it. They all coach the same thing: Stick with it. Keep on keeping on. Work through it.

If I could find that towel, I'd throw it in. I'll keep looking for that towel while I continue to walk 4.5 miles a day. I'll search for a towel replacement while I keep my calories right about 1300. Maybe, in a week or two, I'll be able to walk myself right off this plateau and I won't need that damn towel anyway.

Check out the "Plateau Buster" articles on SP. They have great tips. Try increasing your calorie intake by 150-300 cals, vary the duration, type & intensity of your workouts, include strength training, HIIT, etc.

I am sorry to read you are so frustrated. I have yet to be there myself having just really gotten back on the program. I have heard suggestions like changing up the type of exercise you do or increasing your calories. Maybe someone else who has tried these things could give you some more explanation. I read you last blog and the motivation is there! Find some new towels! emoticon

Simple Math or (CI/CO)

Thursday, September 20, 2012

My Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is 1600 calories. That is the amount I expend just being alive. So if I eat 1200 calories a day:

EXAMPLE A
Nourishment 1200 calories
BMR - 1600 just lying around
=400 calorie deficit

A pound is 3500 calories. It would take me approximately 9 days to lose one pound. (and I have lots of excess pounds) Sigh!

EXAMPLE B
Nourishment 1200 calories
BMR - 1600 just lying
Exercise - 800 cardio/aerobic/ST burned calories
= 1200 calorie deficit

It now only takes me 3 days to lose a pound. That's over 2 pounds a week. I can do that ~ and better! I know I can!

Simple Math = CI/CO = Homework this weekend made simple!

12 WEEKS -- 20 POUNDS

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I have been working toward getting healthier and eating clean for about 20 years. The problem with my weight mainly consisted with my love of crunchy, salty carbs, daily doses of wine, and almost no exercise, well, except for the daily walks with Zoe. About 2 months ago, that all changed.

I started working out 3-4 times a week, completely cut alcohol, and gave up chips. I have lost 8 pounds! WOW! Small changes. I brown bag every day and only eat out 1 meal a month. So many friends and coworkers tell me they don’t understand why I have weight problem because I eat so healthy. Well, there’s more – portion size. I am also paying more attention to servings sizes and what is a single-size serving. This is a big eye-opener.

So, I have joined the BLC 20 – camaraderie, a timeframe, structure – just what my journey was missing. My goal is 12 weeks – 20 pounds. 12 WEEKS – 20 POUNDS. 12 WEEKS – 20 POUNDS

A mantra! There it is 12 WEEKS – 20 POUNDS

You can do it! You are right it all comes down to portion size. If you can control portion size the weight does come off. Good luck on the challenge and just emoticon emoticon emoticon Don't forget to drink your water!
