Walking myself healthy!

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

Today is day 3 of my new Leslie Sansone DVD. I love it! Since joining SparkPeople I have started exercising nearly everyday, cardio six to seven days a week (most weeks); strength training 6 days, alternating between upper & lower body. I've walked & rode my bike (after knocking the dust off of it) as much as I could, and I do zumba one to two days a week. Then I read another blog about using the Leslie Sansone DVDs and I've always considered it everytime I saw one, so I took the plunge. I love the workouts, I really feel like I've done something, and if it gets too dark out--which it does early these days, I can do this inside my home, with no equipment! I am looking forward to my walks more than I thought I would! This is something I can ALWAYS do, in addition to the rest. I can't wait to see the results!

Some of my inspiration comes from my future daughter-in-law, who competed in her first marathon last month in Portland, and is currently training for next year's, with some smaller races in between. I want to do that! And that, my friends, is something I NEVER thought I would say! This may not even get read by anyone, but it sure feels good to put it in writing!

Have a happy & healthy day!

This isn't as easy as it looks. It's really hard to say what you want to in one word. It's good discipline, though. Give it a try.

Weekend worries

Friday, October 05, 2012

So far, things are good for this week, but they usually are at this time. It's the weekends I have to watch. I don't go way overboard, but I'm not as watchful of what I eat or I don't say no as often as I should. I need this to change, so any ideas would be welcome. I started this journey at 189 lbs, my heaviest ever except when I was pregnant, and that was a very long time ago! I got scared, as I did not want to get to that 200 mark (hard for me as I was always skinny when I was young, and never had a problem with weight) I got below 180 very briefly, then went back up. So as of last Wednesday, I was back down to 180.6--keeping my fingers crossed for a Sunday weigh-in. My future daughter-in-law is running in a marathon this weekend, and she has had a much longer road than I have, so I will be watching her, and using her inspiration! Regardless of what else happens, I WILL keep pushing forward! emoticon

Day 63

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. I feel better, most days, and I am losing weight and learning to eat better, but I am not seeing the results yet, so I'm a little disappointed, to say the least. But, I am NOT giving up, I am moving forward. I have a mini-goal to do 60 minutes of exercise everyday this week, and I have been pretty good (not great) with my diet. I will not weigh in until Sunday, so we will see...!

    Hi there!
Please stay on track with your goals no matter what the scale says! Use the scale as feedback for what you might need to tweak. That's what I do. Be scientific with it, in terms of not getting attached to the number on the scale, Instead as a way to study habits you may need to change such as, not eating after 7pm, getting more sleep, etc.

Also, measure yourself so you can see results in more than one way! emoticon
