Stress of the Holidays

emoticon Thanksgiving is coming up quickly and emoticon Christmas around the corner.
emoticon I am still doing my board on my frig having a hard time getting in my Leslie 3 times a week which has me a little down emoticon
Was really hoping my boyfriend would be not smoking so much anymore but that is not happening and he stinks so badly emoticon bummed about that.
Decided with the holidays and feeling pressure about writing in the groups every day of my goals met so much stress at work this time of year can't let all this get to me. Feel guilty enough when I don't get my walks in then to come on here and not be able to put it on my tracker just gets me down to much right now.
I do my steps everyday, still waiting for my Fit Bit One to arrive, until then I have my pedomter and walk with Leslie 3 times a week. emoticon right now that's all I can handle.
Some times we need to give our selves a break of always being so hard on our selves. Tomorrow is always a new day to make a change if we want too.
emoticon sometimes we just need to dance and just be happy and thankful we are able to get up in the morning and have a productive day, no matter what we do.
emoticon I do wish everyone a Beautiful Holiday Season and sending out lots of emoticon

    You are right - give yourself a break and don't be so hard on yourself! Give thanks for all that you do accomplish because we can't fit everything in everyday!
Exercise is a part of the fitness program, but it is not the entire package. Even if you don't have fitness to track each day, keep returning here for the support of all your SP friends! Keep tracking your nutrition, drink your water and read inspirational quotes to lift your spirits and keep you motivated. I hope you enjoy your holidays! Hello sweet emoticon 's. This was my October board a bit busy and yes did quite a few steps and did a few miles with Leslie.
I need to kick it up a bit. New Month New Board emoticon

It's been a crazy month with so much stuff going on but have to get it back in gear.

This is what I need to kick up adding more workouts in and not just steps. Steps are good but got my new dvd's in today emoticon

I am so excited, I have to go out of town tomorrow for a co-workers wedding so going to walk with Leslie in the morning.
It is so easy to get off track with daily life stuff, but with the holidays around the corner I have to get back in the groove before those goodies start showing up emoticon
I keep waiting to hear when my new Fitbit One is shipped. I pre-ordered it, until then my pedometer will have to do.
I do hope everyone is hitting there goals or even if your trying your a Winner for that emoticon
NO matter what lets tell ourselves no matter what we take a half an hour each day to move our bodies. Our bodies will be thank ful for our gesture emoticon

As Leslie says emoticon emoticon emoticon alone, together with a pet it dont matter. Just emoticon emoticon

We are all awesome and we are going to have a Fabulous Holiday season emoticon

I haven't walked with Leslie in a long time. It is bitter cold and windy here and I have not been going out to walk. Leslie is just what I need. Thanks for helping me remember that it doesn't matter where you exercise, just do it. You are having a great streak with your walking. I am envious and I will get myself to that point too.

I have started my weekend with a workout and not just steps emoticon emoticon I think what I am going to do is start my Monday with Leslie's 5 Day Walk Plan then the weekends do any of her other DVD's then the next week do the 7 -Day Calorie Blast DVD. Just to spice things up.
Also have heard so many things about Chris Powell I am going to start this on Monday the Carb Cycle diet

I know I don't like the word diet, but this is one I have to try emoticon and it makes sense. I first saw him talking about it on Dr Oz

Well this is my November plan and goals, hope everyone sets at least one new thing to do this month to spice it up and Kick It Up a Notch emoticon

The Fit Bit Ultra/120 Days Not Smoking

Well I am about to buy me a present for doing such a great job and hit my 120 days today emoticon emoticon emoticon
If I seem excited I am emoticon living with a smoker is a hard job emoticon so I am about to buy me something emoticon
I have been talking with a emoticon about the Fit Bit and would like any other feed back I can get on this.
I want the one that does everything and the sleep. I have looked in the SP store, Amazon and want to know your opinions.
Plus any tips or suggestions from anyone that has one I would so appreciated it before I make my purchase.
I emoticon think there is an advantage if I purchase through SP.
My time is so limited and I think this would help me save a lot of time I spend tracking everything. emoticon love my award for emoticon

Hope all my sweet emoticon 's are enjoying the season, the crispness in the air and working hard to meet our goals. Just remember to pamper yourself too emoticon

You deserve to treat yourself! I am also looking into the fitbit. However, it doesn't look to me the spark version does all we both seem to be looking for. I would definitely like the sleep counter. I would be interested in learning what you find.

    Great work!!!

You were smart to get the fitbit ONE which is sweat & water resistant. The ultra can die mid-workout due to sweat. Despite that, I absolutely love my fitbit and can't wait for the one to show up on my doorstep.

    I'm on 3 1/2 years no-smoking now .... DH has gone since June 12, 2012 -- sure is nicer without him smoking ..... I celebrated my 3 year anniversary by doing my first 5K .. I quit on MY day which was St. Patrick's Day .... did it for ME and so glad I did .... Roc

PS don't forget to get your extra Spark Points when you set up your Fitbit with Spark People ....

    Congratulations!! When I quit smoking in 2007 my husband was still smoking in our house. It was VERY difficult, probably the hardest thing I've ever done so I can toatlly empathize with you. I would definitely celebrate each milestone and not look back. I'm not familiar with the Fitbit so can't offer any suggestions on that but I hope you enjoy.

    emoticon so much everybody for taking time out of your day and stopping by, you are all emoticon well I ordered the Fit Bit One did a pre-order they say it will not be shipped till the first week of November. emoticon I can't wait and November really is not that far away. The Ultra was nice but with the One its blue tooth and has a USB doggles so more convenient for me than having the base.
So I will wait emoticon It's tough when you want something right now, but I have my pedometer until then. I will write a blog after I have had it for a week and figured it all out. So exciting emoticon emoticon Hope all my emoticon s has a Fabulous week ahead. emoticon

    Congrats AGAIN! This is a wonderful accomplishment & treating yourself is a great way to celebrate your freedom! My 1st gift to myself was a Kindle. Love it!

Can't help you with the FitBit - don't have one but I've heard that some wouldn't be without the FitBit. I use the Omron pedometer to make sure I move all day long. It does keep track of cardio minutes for me (it starts tracking after you've been moving for a minimum of 10 minutes without rest). However, if you're a runner, it doesn't keep track of the mileage accurately unless you always go in to the set up to change the stride length. The best thing is I can download the information to a program on my desktop.

    emoticon on quitting smoking. I am struggling with that habit right now. I am down to less than a pack a day, but haven't made it yet to completely cold turkey.

I have a fitbit Ultra, that I bought in June 2012 and at that time they only had 2 choices. I bought the Ultra (99.00) to track my sleep. I really wanted to know if I was sleeping or not, between the hot flashes and night sweats, I felt like I wasn't sleeping at all. I have read that Amazon is offering the Ultra for less than 99.00. My question is: is Fitbit replacing the Ultra with the One? You might call customer service and ask that question.
I love my fitbit and wear it on my waistband everyday and have not had any issues with it coming off.
You also need to check out and join the Fitbit Users Unite team on SP. It has a lot of information. Then you can join the SP Fitbit challenge starting in November.

    Congratulatons on your 120 days of not smoking. This is the hardest thing I ever did was to 'quit smoking' and that was in 2001. But, I did it and so will you. Now I look at people lighting us and gag! Still the urge is there after all these years - but with the cost and the health issues it causes, I will never go back. Way to go!!! LI sends you a wave...

    people do seem to like it.....but I'm looking for something that will register my bike riding.....I use a OMRON pedometer and have for over 5 tells me steps, aerobic steps and minutes, calories burned and how far I have gone, it also hooks up to my computer and gives grafts and things that help show progress... its worked for me....

emoticon Good Morning to all my emoticon 's. My weigh in was this morning and was so positive with all the hard work this week of emoticon and strength emoticon but guess what emoticon I gained 4 lbs emoticon .

So I went out on line to see if I could find anything relating to my problem, so it is not my thyroid I take medicine for that and I have a clean bill of health so I am thinking after reading this article that I am not going to weigh emoticon again until Nov 3rd.
This is the article I found on line and it was actually an article from Spark People which I thought was Fantastic.

I just started exercising to lose weight, but I've gained weight. Why did this happen?

It's true that many people either gain a little weight or don't see any change on the scale for as long as 4-6 weeks after making a significant change in their level of exercise. This is often explained as "gaining muscle while losing fat" but that isn't quite accurate. This extra weight is usually water.

When you start doing more exercise, your body begins storing more fuel in your muscle cells, where it can be used easily and quickly to fuel your workouts. The process of converting glucose (carbohydrates) into fuel that your muscles actually store and use (glycogen) requires three molecules of water for every molecule of glucose. As your muscles are building up glycogen stores, your body has to retain extra water for this purpose. That's what causes most of the initial weight gain or lack of weight loss. This is a good thing—not something to worry about.

However, despite what the scale says, you are actually losing fat during this time. The extra water retention will stop once your body has adjusted to its new activity level. At that point, the scale should start moving down. You'll end up with less fat, and muscles that can handle a larger amount of work.

    Good luck on your journey to health. You have a lot on your plate so be kind to yourself and don't give up. emoticon Perhaps you could think of another way to measure your daily progress, i.e. energy level, glasses of water per day, fruits and vegetables per day, or exercise minutes and stop focusing on the scale. Menopause is tough but in my experience it lead to more self acceptance and happiness. I hope it does the same for you. emoticon

    Excellent blog an encouragement for others. That scale at times can be an enemy an not a friend. Learned a long time ago to weigh less frequently, just use how your clothes fit you.
That keeps my anxiety level more even. I weight now about once a month, daily water weight can blow your mind if you weigh to often. Then again do what feels comfortable when dropping that weight or quitting that nasty habit. Anything is possible when you put your mind to it. emoticon an in time you will.

Bringing in Fall with a Smile:)

Okay, last week was a set back for me with trials and errors having my sweetie home everyday from his surgery and cooking and eating his favorites:) emoticon
I came so close to buying a pack of cigarettes this last weekend it was awful, emoticon but I DIDN'T. Its kind of like do I want to save my marriage but I am not married.
The stress of living with a smoker is unbearable some days.
emoticon So what I had to do was change my mind thinking, I had a xbox kinect that was never being used so I traded it in for a ps3 which my sweetie has one and just loves his shooting games lol
emoticon well for me I started doing Getting Fit with Mel B and looking into the other game also.
I am incorporating the ps3 workout games with Leslie Sansone I get bored really easy so had to change it up a bit to get my mind going in the right direction.
I started back using my step tracker also and added that to my fitness on here,
emoticon I will say I did get a game too called Tomb Raider lol that has been kind of fun. Always been a game player on fb and then on my ipad3 now I have the ps3.
emoticon emoticon between work taking care of my sweetie I have just a few hrs at night to chill out til the weekend.
So if you dont hear from me much during the week just know I love when you stop by and I do read your post on my lunch hr and try and keep up with everything,
We went apple picking a couple weeks ago looking for a great Spark recipe for apple crisp if anyone has any would love it
emoticon I am in a group with a Fall challenge which I need to get over there and see what is happening and my logging in with my Leslie workouts. My goal is to get better in coming in each day and spending at least 30 minutes with everything on here besides my not smoking posts.

We all have our little quirks to get off the couch and keep moving, A big Hug to everyone that gives that little push each day to make ourselves healthier.

    Congratulations on beating down that nicotine monster! I'll have a full 240 days tomorrow but I still make sure I stay on guard for those times I think I can just smoke one to make it through the day. Just one, I'm sure will totally derail me - NOPE - not going to do it because I want to be a NON smoker!

My DH, gotta love him, but he's still smoking & sometimes he just smells really bad. I've been turning that around & saying to myself, I don't smell like that & that is a good thing. One day he will get better like I did! Just wish it would be sooner than later!

    emoticon When I quit smoking over 15 years ago my doctor told me you will be able to do not have an addictive personality..the problem is that your husband does and you will have to watch him smoke..Quitting smoking is not is one of the hardest things I have ever done..but as the years go by it gets easier..sometimes I still want one but I know I am not going to smoke..I did make the mistake of replacing cigarettes with food..Make healthy food choices..maybe zero calorie foods to snack on... emoticon

It sounds like your doing great (even though things around you may not have been so great).
The PS3 get fit with Mel B looks interesting. I've never tried any of the workouts like that (as I do not have a PS3, Wii, or such). Maybe one of these days!
