Time wasters

Friday, December 28, 2012

So today I am to blog about time wasters....I have a ton

computer
tv
cleaning house
cooking

some ways I plan on fixing...limiting when the tv is on in our house...this kids dont even watch it is on for back ground noise...thought only when my husband is home from work after 7pm to 9pm....

computer....turning on in morning checking # for stores and then turning off....iphone already sends me all my email as the day progresses....then in evening if I need to get work done.

Kids can help with cleaning of house.... they do a lot, but could do more.
cooking same way ....kids can cook 3 x a week meals are already planed....after homework they could prep and start meal before we get home.

This should give a more free time to work out....

Relief from Stress

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Ok I am taking a 4 week challenge to relieve stress..... I so need this becasue of my crazy work schedule and stores that I manage. Home is great, except financial (just seems like we live pay check to pay check) everytime we think we are getting ahead....something comes up (example new mirowave/ dog that is having back issues/ kids needing something for school....ect)
2nd issue is work....I manage 6 stores for a national fast food chain.....most of my stores do pretty good, but 1 really sucks and it has issues everyday even when I am on vacation.

But I am ready to make changes to help....exercise/mediation....ect....

Good for you working toward reducing stress.

I find that being organized, creating some "me time" and managing my expectations helps to keep the stress level lower. When possible, I manage the expectations of others so that we are on the same page about things.

I was a retail store manager for 3 years and it was hard work and stressful. Long hours. Ugh. I just had to find my "happy place" sometimes because the monotony got to me.

Exercise helps. And getting enough sleep.

One of my best ways to stop stressing is to hang out with my dogs - hard to be stressed when you've got three full size dogs giving you all their attention. My lab will play anytime I show her the tug. Good to focus on this stuff and not all the crap in the world.

Money's a huge stress source - it's the top reason folks get divorced and the thing that most couples fight about - and it really helps to have open lines of communication in the home and to let the kids (assuming they are old enough) know about how there isn't an unlimited supply of cash. My kids don't know everything about our finances but they do know that we have bills and they have seen firsthand how much, say, the electric bill is and how that impacts our checkbook and how turning off lights helps to lower that. Just a thought.

Hope you have a successful de-stress challenge!

Make it a great day!
Matt

I am part of the Stress Busters challenge too. I am hoping that getting more fit and walking will help lower the stress of job and family. Good luck on your journey!
