Weigh in day today, down to 278.2lbs, BMI of 44.71. Not bad considering I started out at 300 lbs and a BMI of 48. Go me.
It is getting easier and a habit to eat and track . I am exercising more on my Wii fit plus, knee permitting. Bought me a new program as reward. EA Personal Trainer. Will start on that tomorrow.On my Wii fit Island bicyling , I moved up to advanced level, but I got lost trying to find all the flags. So I ended up doing 7.5 miles.
I quit my full time job, because it was still too much , too soon. So now I will look for something part-time. It just sucks to get old and have bad knees. especially as a Nurse , who has to be able to run all shift.
I just love trying out all new recipes from the Spark Cookbook and the Spark recipe website. My kids are learning to eat healthier and my husband lost 17 lbs and his Diabetes is under better control. I keep telling every one , it's not a diet, it's a life style change and I love it.
I keep spreading the Spark.....

And thanks to all my Spark Friends , who support and keep cheering me on, you guys are great and I love you all.

I wonder if there aren't variants on nursing that would give you less running around - such as a smaller nursing care home or hospice. How wonderful that your interest in eating healthier has spread to your family! Report Inappropriate Comment

had to call in sick today, because my knee is swollen and I am having a lot of pain. Maybe it was not a good idea to start working so soon after surgery. My surgeon wanted me to wait at least another month before going back. But I didn't listen.
Wednesday I have an interview with the local hospice here. It would be an easier job, so I will see how it goes.
But on a good note, I have lost 20lbs so far . It is getting easier to stick with my eating plan, which involves a lot of veggies and fruits.

I should have read your blogs before I asked questions. I'm sorry your knee is swelling. I am 2 years out on my TKA and my mom is 18 months out and we still have trouble with swelling. It makes my knee stiff. I'll be praying that PT helps and that you can find a job that you don't have to work so hard! Nursing is tough on the body. Congrats on the 20 pounds lost! Well, 2 days down @ work had to work 2 days on day shift to get to know the place and all the paperwork that goes with it. tomorrow and Thursday it's swing shift and then I will finally make to night shift on Saturday. My body feels tired, just not used to working anymore.
Went to doctor yesterday and he said my knee looks good and warned me not to overdo it. He also asked ,when I want to do the other leg. Not yet, maybe wait a year.
Looking forward to one of my sons coming home @ the end of this month. He is really a mama's boy. But it will be good to have him home , before he starts his submarine duty. He really turned into a nice young man.

Glad you're doing ok at work but I do agree with the dr...don't overdo.. I waited 3 years to have my 2nd knee done -- not b/c I didn't want it -- I just was still working then and only had my summers off and it took me 3 years to want to give up my summer recovering....but then I retired that same summer so it really didn't matter!!! Started a new job this week, working as a LPN Charge Nurse in a Nursing and Rehab Center. I will be working graveyard shift. I think it will be easier for now on my joints, especially my new knee. It feels so good to be out of the house and around people.
I asked my father-in-law what he wanted for Easter dinner and he said Barbeque Chicken. So my husband is cooking that and will be making the potato salad. This is going to be different. But all that counts is to have the Family together.

What a great day......

I had a real good day today. Went to Physical Therapy and was on the stationary bike for the first time . I actually lasted 10 minutes. My knee is at 100 degrees now....wooohooo. Now I got to work towards 110 degrees.
I got that job , that I wanted and I am starting on Thursday. I am so excited to get back to work. Yeah and the money doesn't hurt either.
Tomorrow is weigh in day, I wonder if I lost anything. My clothes are getting bigger and baggier. Went from a size 24 to a size 18/16. Not bad at all. I guess now I have to buy new scrubs and clothes.

Congrats on getting your job and riding the bike! I went from 90 minutes on the bike before my TKR to 5 minutes after and 40 laps in the pool to one...such a let down, but I regained my mobility quickly. You're doing great! Report Inappropriate Comment

Know how it feels to get back on bike after TKR. It is the one exercise I really enjoy doing. I was really surprised when on her first visit my PT pointed to my recumbent bike and suggested I try riding it. Only a week after TKR and she thinks I can ride it. Keep working on that knee flexion - it will come. I had opposite problem, getting leg straight but finally did it. Report Inappropriate Comment

I had a great day too! Great job at dropping all those clothing sizes! I got myself some jeans after just one size lol. It was nice to shop in "normal" stores today. Some of the jeans were still a little tight, but I didn't feel out of place:) Report Inappropriate Comment

Congratulations! I know what it's like at physical therapy, hitting that 10 minute milestone. I am also goint to PT for my knee, I had surgery November 2011 and have 4 degrees remaining till full range. That is so exciting that your clothes are getting baggier, keep up the great work!
