What a great day......

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

I had a real good day today. Went to Physical Therapy and was on the stationary bike for the first time . I actually lasted 10 minutes. My knee is at 100 degrees now....wooohooo. Now I got to work towards 110 degrees.
I got that job , that I wanted and I am starting on Thursday. I am so excited to get back to work. Yeah and the money doesn't hurt either.
Tomorrow is weigh in day, I wonder if I lost anything. My clothes are getting bigger and baggier. Went from a size 24 to a size 18/16. Not bad at all. I guess now I have to buy new scrubs and clothes.
Thank you all my Spark friends and family for your support and kind words.

Congrats on getting your job and riding the bike! I went from 90 minutes on the bike before my TKR to 5 minutes after and 40 laps in the pool to one...such a let down, but I regained my mobility quickly. You're doing great!

emoticon emoticon Know how it feels to get back on bike after TKR. It is the one exercise I really enjoy doing. I was really surprised when on her first visit my PT pointed to my recumbent bike and suggested I try riding it. Only a week after TKR and she thinks I can ride it.

Keep working on that knee flexion - it will come. I had opposite problem, getting leg straight but finally did it.

I had a great day too! Great job at dropping all those clothing sizes! I got myself some jeans after just one size lol. It was nice to shop in "normal" stores today. Some of the jeans were still a little tight, but I didn't feel out of place:)

    Congratulations!
I know what it's like at physical therapy, hitting that 10 minute milestone. I am also goint to PT for my knee, I had surgery November 2011 and have 4 degrees remaining till full range. That is so exciting that your clothes are getting baggier, keep up the great work!

things are looking better.....

Friday, March 30, 2012

Got a call from the company ,that I interviewed with. As soon as my drug test (I tested positive for opiates,no surprise there ,since I am taken taken Vicodin for my knee) and my back ground check come back, I can go to work. They are aiming for Thursday of next week. Can't wait to go back to work. they are driving me insane here at home. It was nice at first to be home, but now 3 months later , I am getting antsy. And the money will come in again.
Had a good workout this morning on the Wii fit. 22 minutes mix of aerobics, strength and yoga. Felt great. Tonight we will take the dogs for a walk again, usually 1 mile up and down these little hills.

Sounds like everything's going good with the company you interviewed with. Sometimes it is difficult to deal with everybody at home! Are you looking forward to going back to work?

Good job on Wii! I love Wii. Sounds like you'll get in a good workout tonite, too. Walking up and down hills is incredible aerobics (and gives you killer legs!)

time to take a break...

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

I guess I have to take it easy for a day or so with my exercising. I have been working out twice a day this last couple days. But my new is saying "Take it easy". went to Physical therapy today and worked out for about 1 hour. Can bend my knee 93 degrees. Next time they will et me go into the pool. Looking forward to it.
Tomorrow I have a job interview. Hope everything works out. It would be a great job for me, working night shift. It would be easier for me and my new knee.

Good luck with the job interview. Don't get discouraged when the knee says take it a little easy. Mine was doing the same thing last week after I upped my exercises. Decided to go back to one a day on knee exercises but upped the time on bike by 10 minutes. This week it is doing much better. (so far)

Best of luck on continued success. Doctor has me starting physical therapy soon. Trying to avoid knee surgery. He told me to start my exercise program with mostly chair exercises, so that I don't strain the knee any worse. He also suggested I start a water workout. I'm looking forward to that. By the way I like the your ending emoticons. I take it you are an animal lover. So am I. I started rescuing them last year right after my mother past away. Have a great day.

My mother was in so much pain in her shoulder that she could barely move. She went to physical therapy and she can funtion completely normal now. I'm unfarmiliar with your other blogs, so I don't know why you're there, but I figured I'd let you know that it works and good luck!

weekend at last

Saturday, March 24, 2012

well this has been a pretty good week. Therapy is getting better and I can bend my knee 90 degrees now. So now I have to work towards the 100 degree mark. I am now walking mostly without a cane. Go me....
Next week I am going job hunting, I think I will try a few Nursing Homes around here. Haven't heard anything from my current employer since they disapproved my medical leave. I was upset at first. But now I know that I can do better then them.
I also started working out on my Wii fit plus this week again. I can do about 10 minutes of aerobic exercises or about 20 minutes of yoga. I getting better every day and keep going.

Doesn't that feel like a 'graduation' when you lose the walker, then the cane?? Keep up the great work!!

having a good week...

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

This week is starting out pretty good,(I hope I don't jinx my self)went to therapy today and worked on my knee for 45 minutes. So I am a little tired right now. And for some reason I am hungry today. But I am staying with my low cal healthy snacks. Will be making some fish tonight and home made potato salad with lots of veggies on the side.
Yesterday I finally was able to work out on my Wii fit plus. So far it's only Yoga, but tomorrow I will try to do some basic step exercises. And every day I walk for about 15 minutes. I guess that is not too bad for someone , who had her left knee replaced 6 weeks ago.
