have been so busy.....

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

I just noticed that I haven't blogged in a while. These last couple weeks been so busy. My second oldest son has been home on leave and he left today for Guam and tomorrow , I am flying to San Antonio to spend a few days with my oldest son. And all in between I have been working.
I also bought me a new exercise bike ,since I wore the old one out. Found a Nordic track recumbent bike at the thrift store for $25. It is in great shape.
I just haven't lost as much weight as I wanted, been eating out a lot with my son. But after this trip , I got to get back on the wagon. LOL

Wow. I don't like to shop at thrift store. It wasn't always but I had really bad experience once and then I stopped going to thrift store. Yes that's right you never know what you find in thrift store.

bad day....

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Had a real bad day yesterday, my oldest son tried to commit suicide, because he thinks his life is hopeless. He is a member of the Navy and is stationed in San Antonio TX. I am truly grateful for his Superiors to recognize his problems and get him help. He is now in treatment and hopefully recover.
But this has us shaken, because we had no idea on how bad things were for him. I am pretty much a nervous wreck. He said he is going to be fine, but it will be hard journey for all of us.
Please keep us in your prayers.

I can not imagine that how you are feeling right now. It is really bad news about your son but happy to hear that he is getting help. I pray for him so he get better and also understand that his life is valuable. Because of him we are able to live here without any fear because we know he is out there protecting us.

Oh, my heart is very heavy for you. That superior is an angel---he was sent to protect your son. Please, turn to prayer. These is a time of feeling helpless and you have to surrender all to God.

Remember, if God sent this man to be in yuor son's life to save him, God must have a plan to keep your son around. Hold on to that. Pray and I will pray too. God bless you and your son.

Will keep you and your son in my prayers. Can relate to what you are going through. My stepdaughter attempted suicide several years ago. Luckily I came home early that day . Recognized the symptoms of overdose immediately and DH was rushed her to hospital.

just a few things I learned....

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

On my journey to a healthier and slimmer life I have learned so much. I always tell people it is not a diet, but a life style change. I still have a candy bar or Donut once in a while , and they are always telling me , I shouldn't eat that, because it is bad for me. But I tell them , that I won't deprive myself and add these things to my calorie total.
I also learned to shop better,so it will not kill my grocery bill. I found that Save-a-lot has a lot of healthy foods for a reasonable price and I buy my produce at a local fruit stand. I got to know the owner very well and she always gives me special deals.
I am not drinking soda pop anymore, now I drink seltzer water with a little crystal light for flavor. It is working pretty good for me. I even tried turkey bacon, they had it on sale @ Save-a-lot for $1 per package. It is awesome.
The best thing that has happened with my life style change , is that my husband's diabetes is under control and his medications got decreased and he is doing great with his food.
This is what he fixed me for breakfast this morning.

And I want to thank all my Spark friends for their support.

LOL! I get the same from husband when he's trying to be helpful and wondering, "Is THAT on your diet?" I keep telling him I'm not on a diet.

I don't think I'd want a pic of my husband's efforts at fixing breakfast. He is a dear man, but his talents do not lie in the kitchen. Lucky you!

Breakfast looks yummy! I eat turkey bacon as my standard bacon, but it took me a few times before I liked it. Partly because I am one of those bacon eaters that likes it fatty and under-cooked. I know totally bad for me for so many reasons, but now I eat the turkey bacon and it is good.

You are so right about not depriving yourself of goodies, as long as you are accounting for it in your calorie range, and not substituting it for needed nutrients. (That was my biggest battle when I started adding back treats into my food choices.)
