My journey to weight loss and a happier healthier life started in January 2012. I was on medical leave for a bad knee, which required surgery . I weighed in @ 300 lbs and I was not happy with myself and I knew that I had to change the way I eat and live, if I wanted to get slimmer and healthier. My doctor told me to loose weight and offered to give me some pills to help. But I turned him down , because I know that it is only a temporary fix.
Starting Spark people was the best thing I ever done. It holds me accountable for my actions. I know I have to track my food every day, so I don't get side tracked. Some of my friends think I getting obsessed with tracking, but I don't let it bother me, because I am doing this for myself .
Here are some comparisons to my weight loss journey.
300lbs -my beginning weight
My weight now 270lbs
And this will be my goal 200lbs
I am going from a big fat catfish to a sleek pretty fish.
But the journey is not over yet.
Well tomorrow I am starting a new job . It has been six months since I last worked. So let's just hope my knee will play along. It has been a long journey of healing, recuperating and getting back to normal.
I have worked hard to get to where I am now. The first days after my surgery , I thought the pain was going to kill me, and I thought to myself " What the !$%^@ was I thinking to have this surgery done?" But now I think it was the best thing for me. My neighbors were just commenting the other day on how good I am doing and they remember watching me walking with my walker and then with my pink cane. Now they are watching me running and walking with the dog everyday.
I have lost over 30 lbs and all my scrubs seem to big , especially the pants. Got to make do with the ones with the drawstring, until I make some money and afford new ones.
Hopefully I still get time to work out every day, but being on my feet for 8 hours per day will get some mileage in .
