Starting a new chapter....

Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Well tomorrow I am starting a new job . It has been six months since I last worked. So let's just hope my knee will play along. It has been a long journey of healing, recuperating and getting back to normal.

I have worked hard to get to where I am now. The first days after my surgery , I thought the pain was going to kill me, and I thought to myself " What the !$%^@ was I thinking to have this surgery done?" But now I think it was the best thing for me. My neighbors were just commenting the other day on how good I am doing and they remember watching me walking with my walker and then with my pink cane. Now they are watching me running and walking with the dog everyday.

I have lost over 30 lbs and all my scrubs seem to big , especially the pants. Got to make do with the ones with the drawstring, until I make some money and afford new ones.
Hopefully I still get time to work out every day, but being on my feet for 8 hours per day will get some mileage in .

emoticon Surgery and recovering can definitely be scary, but it seems like in certain situations it's worth it. My mom will be having hip replacement surgery in August.

Hope working again goes well! emoticon

good times....

Monday, July 02, 2012

This last month just flew by, and I think it was a good month. I have met my goal of losing 4 lbs and some. I lost 7.8 lbs and feel so much better about myself. The exercises I do every day are really getting some what easier, so I guess it's time to up the challenges.
I also cut my hair , after letting it grow for 2 years to donate it to Locks of Love. That was something I always wanted to do.
My doctor released me ,so I can go back to work. Just right now there are not many jobs out there for LPNs. So I am considering going back to school and train for something else. Just don't know what.
We are also thinking about buying a house, the market is good and homes are are getting real cheap around here and it would cost us less to pay a mortgage than paying rent.
I am so grateful for my family and all my sparkfriends that are so supportive through this long voyage to weightloss and better health.

emoticon on the weight loss. Really great that you donated your hair. Luckily when I was diagnosed with kidney cancer five years ago doctor was able to get all cancer by surgery. No chemo or radiation needed. My BF received a wig made from donated hair. I know she was thrilled to get it. emoticon emoticon

emoticonYou are doing such great things! Amazing weight loss and way to challenge yourself with your exercise! So happy for you that you are able to go back to work/school whatever you decide. And how exciting to think about buying a house. I think it's wonderful that you grew your hair out for such a good cause. I would love to do that, but I color my hair and I'm pretty sure it has to be unprocessed for locks of love. Very impressive~keep going strong!
