This was my afternoon on Wednesday! Entertaining my two sweet nieces. Brinley is asleep in my arms and Kinsley was awake in her car seat. Everyone else was in the kitchen eating (I had already eaten), so I had the wonderful pleasure of loving on my nieces! Love them!


So, anyway, August is going okay so far. Nutrition has been up and down, but the "bad" stuff has been for special occasions. Fitness is going great. Today was day 45 of PiYo. The scale isn't moving, but I'm feeling stronger. The boys go back to school next Thursday, so I'm looking forward to getting back into a routine. I do better with routines. Wow, July is coming to an end. It just doesn't seem like tomorrow should be August. Of course the fact that we have been having absolutely wonderful weather here in Iowa throws things off. Lower 80s and just beautiful all week. Love it!!

So, here is my goal wrap-up for July:

1. Nutrition: still needs work, but this past week I've been pretty good about sticking to my healthy choices.

2. Fitness: 30 Days of PiYo done! Whew! I am loving it!

3. Personal: cleaning and decluttering - didn't happen a lot. Hard to do when the boys are home.

My goals for August:

1. Nutrition: just focus on sticking to healthy choices!

2. Fitness: finish up the second month of PiYo and add some extra cardio a few days a week.

3. Personal: thanks to a wonderful Spark friend, I have been introduced to the usage of essential oils. So, I'm going to spend August really digging deeper into everything about them. It will definitely be easier once the boys go back to school (that would be August 21st).

Tomorrow will be weigh-in and measurement day. Hopefully I will see some results there!

    I need to find time to take measurements tomorrow too. It is a new start for me "on my own." I am really wanting to order Slim & Sassy oil to try for the weight loss and energy. Have you started it yet?

A lot has happened over the past few weeks. We've been busy with the fair, day camps, works, appointments and so on. I just haven't had the urge to blog!

The biggest news is the arrival of my newest niece on the 21st! Brinley Alexis arrived via c-section and is absolutely adorable! Another niece to spoil. Yay!

Last night, the Praise team played at the Farmer's Market and it was amazing. We played through our set that we are going to use for the Iowa State Fair (we play August 7th at 2:30 at the Susan Knapp Amphitheater if you happen to be there that day emoticon ), and I'm debating switching the order. I probably won't though. So many of the songs have a lot of piano stuff and my arms were just worn out last night! We are definitely ready though!

As for my goals:

1. Nutrition: this area has been up and down. I'll have good days and bad days (which the bad days were usually because something extra was going on) and then some days where I'll start out great, but the snack monster will get a hold of me. The scale really hasn't budged, so I'll take that as a good sign.

2. Fitness: I am loving PiYo! My wrists are still getting used to the work, but I think that they are getting stronger! I haven't noticed a lot of changes yet, but if I could get my nutrition under control...

3. Yeah, cleaning. My house was clean for the 19th, but I haven't had a chance to do much since last weekend. A few loads of laundry here and there and of course washing the dishes and making the bed. We've been on the go all week and I've barely been home to do anything!

So, all in all, July has been a pretty good month.

    Reminds me of my "stay at home mom" days. I remember being so busy doing stuff with the kids that housework generally got put on the back burner. (not that I ever liked housework anyway, so any excuse to avoid it.....)

Glad to hear that in spite of all that activity, and the "not so good" eating, your weight has remained stable.

Another recap day. Wow!

As I said July 4th I stayed home and enjoyed peace and quiet while Mike and the boys went to the Independence Day celebration festivities. I am glad that I did. The migraine never did fully take hold! Woo hoo!

Saturday, July 5th - I started the day with PiYo: Sweat. Wow! It definitely earns it's name. I was sweating and it felt great. The only downside - burpees. They are slower ones, but still. Luckily the modifier does something different. I may try them eventually, but I just hate burpees! After breakfast and my shower I headed to Greenfield to get groceries. I was still debating whether or not to go do some shopping in Des Moines, so I figured that I'd get the groceries and get them home and put away while I thought about it. I did end up going. Mike and the boys headed off on a bike ride and I headed for Des Moines. I got three pairs of capris at Kohls, wandered both Valley West and Jordan Creek malls, had a yummy slice of cheesecake and got a few things at Target. A good pre-birthday fun day for me! I even still had some quiet time once I got home!

Sunday, July 6th - My 42nd birthday. Wow! Didn't do a lot, but it was a fun day. It started with church, then we went to Creston and had lunch at the Pizza Ranch (I had a coupon for free buffet for Jacob, plus my birthday $5 off - gotta love that rewards card!). So yummy. It had been a while since we had eaten there, so it was nice for a change. Yes, I know not the healthiest, but it was my birthday! I had a quiet afternoon at home and then we went out for a Bronco ride. I miss doing that. I started out with a hat on, but the way the wind was blowing, I finally gave up and let my hair fly! It was a great day!

Monday, July 7th - 1st day of Basketball Camp for Jacob. He'd been looking forward to this since last sumer! So he had camp in the morning and Matthew had an all day camp. His camp was a trip to Springbrook State Park. They did archery, kayaking and a bunch of other outdoor things. He had a great time. My quiet morning - I did laundry and cleaned. LOL! After picking Jacob up we met my mom for another birthday lunch. It was great to see her!

Tuesday, July 8th - Basketball Camp for Jacob and Matthew had Battle of the Books in the afternoon. I am starting to give Matthew a little bit more freedom (now that he's 11). He stayed home while I took Jacob to camp and then went to work for a little bit. It was probably about 1-1/2 hours. The funny thing is that he called me 4 times! But, he did get a lot accomplished on his 4-H project for the fair next week.

Today is Jacob's busy day. He starts with basketball camp and then I pick him up and take him right to Clover Kids Camp. He's missing the morning part of that, but he should be there just in time to eat and finish out the day. Then tonight it's work and practice for me.

In other news, PiYo is going well. Today was day 8 (day 5 was a rest day) and I'm feeling pretty good. I know that I'm not super far into it yet, but I am enjoying the workouts. My eating is still up and down. I've had really good days, average days and then of course a few splurges for my birthday. I am working on it though!

    Happy Belated Birthday Kellie! I'm so behind on my Sparking that I haven't even been reading my SparkPage replies, etc. Summer is really flying by, though, with all that I've been trying to do in addition to working and being a Mom!

    Sounds like you are busy, but with good stuff, Kellie!! That's the age Tony was when we began to leave him home alone for an hour or so at a time. I was surprised at first at how well he did..glad Matthew is handling it well, too. 42! You are a baby!! Well, at least to this old lady you are!!

Glad you are enjoying your new exercise routine. I know somewhere there was discussion about this, it is pilates and yoga? Sounds like it would kill me if it is, but I'll bet it's right up your alley!!

Well, today was day 3 of PiYo and I will tell you that I am noticing some sore muscles - mostly my shoulders and upper back. Woo hoo! I am definitely loving it!

So, I suppose that I should recap the past few days. Wednesday went smoothly. Jacob had a day camp for the day, so it was just Matthew and I. I had work in the morning and then practice in the evening. My eating went well - I put a lot of planning into it and that helped. Other than laundry, I didn't get a lot of cleaning done.

Thursday was a little bit crazier. I started out with my workout and planned my meals for the day. Then while getting my Spark stuff done, I noticed the tell-tale sign of a migraine coming on. I hate aura migraines. Luckily I noticed, so I immediately took some Excedrin Migraine to nip it in the bud. Then it was off to work to print the bulletins. It was a rough afternoon with the boys. I don't know why, but they always seem to act worse when I don't feel well. The bonus is that Mike and the boys headed to Clearfield for the Truck & Tractor pull so I was able to enjoy a great evening to myself! Definitely needed and wonderful!

Today started early. Mike and Matthew had to head out for Scouts to put up flags around Greenfield. I got my workout done (added a bonus walking workout) and had my healthy breakfast. I have managed to keep the migraine at bay, but I decided to stay at home while Mike and the boys headed to all of the 4th of July celebration in Massena. I figured that it would make more sense to stay home to keep it at bay. So, I'm enjoying some more quiet time and so far the migraine hasn't taken complete hold. Yay!

So, July has been off to a great start! Woo hoo!
