Its going to take time to heal all that. Can't believe how big a cut they needed -my surgeon gave me a much smaller cut on my knee. My pain didn't go away for three months (the intense pain of bending it that is) Good luck with physio -remember they are trying to help you no matter how much it hurts..

Hammering and when he had finished heard him stapling knee op took 1and half hour he said there was a lot of damage to bone and tissues he said surgery was hard due to small knees but op went well was in recovery one and half hours then back on ward he relined knee as well. He said worst knee he had seen for my age I was on a pca for awhile and drip also on blood thinning injections and antibiotics I had a drain in leg the next day they did a drop
And dangle pushed knee back to ninty degree twice it hurt so much it made me scream and cry out
Loud worst thing ever done to me to get junk out of knee then they took drain out then physios
Got
Me standing on wheel walker and walking a bit it hurt like no one business Had to walk ever day and exercises start knee classes on Tuesday came home last Saturday knee sore get staples out

So sorry you are in such pain :-(( Knees are very painful and very long to recover from. It took me three months before the intense pain of trying to bend the knee subsided. But you have to keep working at it to get the mobility back. In the end it will be worth it. It never bothered me to walk on it though. In fact when I first stood up on it, I couldn't believe it didn't hurt so bad. The grinding was gone.
All the best with rehab. Always make sure to take your painkillers before physiotherapy and do your exercises as directed.

emoticon The process stinks, but the final results will be heavenly. After you recover, you will be able to do things you haven't done for years, with no pain. Don't rush things. Just keep your eyes on the prize and your spirits high. Many prayers coming your way.

hi steph love glad you are home now and all went relative well for you.wow only 11/2 hours recovery room i was two days in recovery room and over two weeks in hospital then had to go to rehab for three weeks.also had to have a small second op 5 days after the big ltkr.the pain is extreme hope they have given you some strong painkillers to help.it does get better though as your knee gets more mobile.i just think it is strange that my knee hurts more now than before the op but they assure me it will eventually go away.i had my three month check up the other day at the hospital and the drīs are pleased i still have to use the crutches another month(occassionally my knee gives way for no reason as the nerve apparently doesnīt pick up or forgtts to send the signal to the brain)i also have lymph drainage 3 times a week(left knee leg still 15cm more swollen than right not operated leg)and physio theraphy 2 times a week along with hot /cold(ice)theraphy two times a week.i also have physio theraphy exercises that i have to do on a daily basis at home.i am now allowed to turn my knee and leg abit and have been given exercises to strengthen the inner side muscles now i can turn the knee.all in all it will be a long strong process but we are both strong and we can do this.know i am here for you love.take care and keep smiling. emoticon

emoticon Glad that one was over for you and went smoothly!
No worries with the knee replacement now, its a very common surgery and the sawbones will be well practised on it. My surgeon did my knee in only 23 minutes! I was only given a spinal though, not full anesthetic because it makes the recovery go so much quicker and no sore throat! You can always ask for a sedative to put you out if you don't want to be awake. Guess you will have to see what your hospital's policy is.
Sending healing and soothing prayers,

Those clinics are so very long for sure. All those nurses and Dr.'s checking you over to make sure you are fit for surgery! Read over all the information you got carefully several times and write down any questions you may have for your Dr. If there is something you don't understand ask them for a simple explanation in basic language not a bunch of big medical words. No need to be nervous -they do good things with knees -you will feel so much better without that grinding pain -I couldn't believe the difference when they first got me up to walk on it!!
You will be fine!
