New Grandson has arrived!

Saturday, April 27, 2013

Well he has finally made his way into the world. Yes indeed, and a bit early to boot!

So I thought I'd share a little photo of the precious little guy. His big brother is dealing with the new addition quite well. We had Kellan overnight and I had him waiting at home when they arrived earlier. We had fun playing outside while we waited. What a gloriously wonderful day.

Kason Neil weighed in as 7 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long.

Thought I'd share a group shot as well of my son, DIL and of course the big brother who
wasn't thrilled about the 'family' photo.

This Busia is tired of course and will look forward to a good night's sleep.

A DIY PROJECT FOR STEP DD'S BRIDAL SHOWER

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

Well my favorite, and only, step DD is getting married and I so wanted to do something special so since she had asked me to be a part of her 'special' event and help her friends with the shower, I asked if I could make her invites. She was fine with it as long as she had to do NOTHING!! So I saw this idea on Pinterest of course and with the help of a co-worker, we sat down last night and got creative and well, I wanted to share.

I need a few more doillies to finish up the remaining few invites but the bulk of the project is done. She needed two for this weekend so that her future MIL could take them back to grandmothers.

I do hope she likes them.

So, What's on My Mind?

Sunday, March 10, 2013

Well our weekend challenge calls for a task for blogging about “What’s on your Mind”.

So today, with the weather being much nicer, I strapped on my shoes emoticon and I went out for a walk emoticon to ponder my thoughts and to work on my stress level. Work is what is eating at me as of late so hoped it would be a double whammy of sorts.

This is my third round of BLC and I have to admit I feel like I’m a drone. I’m going through the motions but my heart isn’t in it. I am slowly losing but I think it is because of some medication I’m currently on that is suppressing my appetite more than anything else. My exercise minutes are lower but I do continue to do the daily GOYB’s and TNT’s, LCW’s and my own favorite toning exercises. But the steps are dismal. The treadmill is definitely more like the ‘dreadmill’ these days. The alarm goes off, I want to cover my head and there are days I do. I even struggle to log my exercise minutes and food and I know it helps, it works, it keeps the motivation so why do I struggle with it? emoticon

I’m not sure how to change this mindset. I’m not sure if the other stresses are effecting me as well. I continue to be a work in progress. I guess I continue one day at a time. Baby steps and try to be kinder to myself.

I’m open for suggestions as well. Thanks for letting me vent.

I echo what Stillwater and Liz has said, and maybe you're trying to fit too much in.
Review your workouts maybe and don't be so hard on yourself hun.
Spring is coming and you can get out and walk more in sunshine- sure to lift you.

If you do suffer from SAD I strongly recommend wrapping up and going for even a short daily stroll, it's been my saviour this winter. Take care emoticon emoticon

MEADSBAY 3/10/2013 9:11PM

Maybe a touch of SAD? This is the worst time of year- I hope when you can get out into a bit of sun that will help.
Do you take any time off at spring break?

Many people are blogging the same thing you are. Perhaps it's just that everyone is so over this winter? I think when the weather gets nicer, it will be easier to get out and move? I'm hoping so anyway............I recently went through the same thing and had to ask myself a serious question........"What am I hoping to gain out of BLC?" I want the healthier lifestyle but it isn't going to happen by itself.........so, I kicked myself a few times, and went and joined the gym......Hoping that gets my own mojo going!

Hang in there! Spring has to be around the corner somewhere!

What I've been up to!

Sunday, March 03, 2013

Well I've been meaning to share some of what I've been doing while hiding in my sewing room and today I'm finally doing it!!

In January I took a class as I enjoy the time with the ladies and just focusing on actually sewing plus I get to see and touch and of course buy some fabric. This class was using 2.5 x 4.5 inch strips. I like Bali Pops as they are already 2.5 in strips so cutting is easy and time-saving. So I chose color of course and this is my quilt top. I'd hoped to get it finished to donate for a benefit but I just ran out of time so now I will finish it and see what speaks to me to do with it. It is the size of a throw so not big enough for a bed by any means.

Yesterday I started a 2nd class this one also a variation of using the same size pieces but this one called Bingo Whirl I believe. We started with choosing fabric, cutting, and making our 24 blocks. Next will be the borders so have some homework and will have more color to it. The light portion does have orange in it but hard to tell from the photo. I will share upon it's completion. but happy how my points came out.

So this is why I have been busy enjoying my time in my sewing room. Just thought I'd share!!

Wow! Those are fantastic! I mad a friend of mine one for her wedding from her bridal party and it was great seeing it come together. lol I heard prior that if you ever make a quilt you have to do it for someone you love or a good cause because no one could ever actually afford to pay you to make one... I must agree with this lol .

Admiration for those Warriors

Saturday, February 02, 2013

Well I felt inclined to blog about this today and blogging is NOT something I do often or enjoy doing. So when the mood strikes I guess I need to go with it.

I had to get out to the store today though the weather is far from something I wanted to be out in. We have had several days of cold and snow and I haven't felt great but the cupboards were a bit bare and Ava was coming to visit today.

Anyway, on the way home the warriors were out in groves. You see we have a local hospital that puts on a 'run camp' in anticipation of a 5k, 1/2 marathon and as of last year, a full marathon and those folks in training are out there. They are out there in rain, sleet, or SNOW!!. My hats off to those folks but I truly am amazed there have been no casualties as these people have no choice but to run in the roads that are snow covered and slippery. The temps are in the teens and with the windchill, it is COLD!!! Yes, they are moving but some don't even have hats on. Anyway, for the most part, people take it slow but on some of the roads it is winding with hills and if anyone took a spill, well you can just imagine what could be. At any rate, it is like a mini event each weekend. They have mile markers up and water stations along the route which happens to go right past my home.

I found myself in awe as I was carefully driving through these people and hoped they all made it back safely. Clearly road warriors at their best and I have no doubt when their event(s) take place in May, they will be prepared. I would suspect they prefer this cold weather over what the they may encounter as you never know anymore. But then again, it is Michigan and we could see snow then!!

I emoticon to them all on their dedication.

these people scare me. the other night driving home from the gym. I saw these bobbing little lights and did not figure them out until we were a few feet away. the lights blinded us and all that reflective wear they had on WAS NOT visible. FInd a gym to let you use their track for an hour or two - it may not be as "real" but at least you won't die from it.

I do amire the tenacity and at least yours were out in the daylight.
