Torn Gastrocnemius, Ouch!!!!

Wednesday, June 02, 2010

Ok, so I was really busy at work thurs., fri, and sat. I know I had to have burned a million calories. On saturday I turned to walk away from my supervisor and I felt like someone punched me in the back of the leg really hard. I almost went down to the floor. I stood up and tried to walk again and this time I felt the same feeling, but also felt a little pop. I finally stood up and me being the person I am I tried to shake it off. I thought it may be a charlie hoarse. I kept work with the pain swearing it was nothing. Sunday I did the same thing, blew it off. I tried walking at the mall and had to go home. I put icy hot and asper cream on it and nothing helped. I even tried to get my fiancÚ' to rub it. Think this would go away. Well after living in denial I realized I needed to go to the hospital when I woke up Monday and couldn't walk. That is when I was told I tore I ruptured my Gastrocnemius muscle, aka my calf. This is soooo painful!! The Dr said it would heal in about 4 weeks. Then it's back to the treadmill i go!!! emoticon

I did it after about 1.5 years, I went back to the gym!!!!!!!

Monday, May 24, 2010

I am so proud of myself today!!! I went back to the gym after being gone for about a year and a half. Every Monday I say this is going to start a new week, but I always find a reason that I don't make it. Today I was determined, I was going to get my lazy butt(because that is what has kept me away some of this time) up and make it to the gym. I didn't have to leave out for work till around 1:30 so I had no excuse.

62 mins on the treadmill
2.94 miles
414 calories
A smile a mile long PRICELESS!!!!

I was at a 2.5 incline and I went between 2.7 -3.0 in speed.

I am in a really great mood. I told my Dr. when I come back in for my 3 month check up I will be down 30lbs. I am going to do this. I took this pic a cpl years ago, I am going to pots pics every few weeks to show my change. I may have to get another pic soon :).

Thank you my beautiful spark friends who are keeping me motivated! I can't wait to see the difference on 8/24/10 emoticon emoticon emoticon

P.S I had to add this pic I took it today at noon. Wow, my belly looks horrible!! Sometimes the truth hurts.

I think we are guilty of finding every reason in the book to not exercise, eat healthy, or track what you are doing.
I know I avoid the camera at every moment.
Tonight I will have a hubby take my pics and I will take his and we will keep a pic diary.
Keep up the good work.

Way to go! Congrats on getting to the gym! I have had periods of time like that too! I think "yeah, I should go to the gym" and then I find other things to do instead! lol

The best part is that once you break the "not-going" cycle, it gets sooooo much easier to start going more often!
Good for you!

Good luck to you in your journey!
