Insomnia!!

Monday, May 17, 2010

This is killing me, I hate not being able to sleep!!! If anyone has any suggestions, please share them with me. I wake up all times of the night and can't get back to sleep. I can only seem to sleep a few hours at a time. This is driving me crazy!!! emoticon

Thank you ladies and I will surely take that hour of sleep!!!! I am going to look into some of the things you have said. I am not a tea drinker, but I just may try it.

I too have insomnia & some times really bad. . . . . So I will try not to workout before bed, drink milk or eat yogurt. Some times I have to admit I take a sleeping tablet & does the work. I try not to do so too often but there are times when its an emergency & last Friday night was it! Some times breathing exercises & reading does the work too. Our minds are just some times way too busy to sleep. . . .

God bless & I gift you 1 hour of sleep tonight! emoticon

Are you having caffeine late into the evening?

I was up last night too and I think it was because I had some hot cocoa at about 6pm and that must have been too much caffeine for me. In the past I have had great success with the supplement Melatonin. Make sure it's standardized and that the room is dark. Chamomile tea is very relaxing.

How often do you work out and how much? I had insomnia awhile back. I started working out more and even harder, so that by the time I hit the pillow I would crash...LOL Exercising daily helped me sleep longer. I went from sleeping for 3 hrs to sleeping about 7. The program I'm on says that it can kill, so if your working out to your max and still having this problem, you should see a Doc. I hope this helps and it will get better, just takes time. I'm here if you need me!

Have had this problem for quite a while now also, but last few weeks have been sleeping more. I have tried all the medical things ie pills, without help. some hot tea does seem to help relax me. also being on spark/computer also helps me fall asleep. focusing on not staying asleep i believe contributes to the problem. i really believe that there is a problem we need to confront,we may or may not be aware of it. the previous message had alot of good suggestions to try. good luck,

Tea works wonders for me, chamomile is very soothing. Also, exercise. You've probably heard it before, but if you do work out enough, you're more likely to have a good night's sleep. Music is nice to listen to on very low so you can barely hear it. I find that when I try to fall asleep, my mind keeps thinking of things so if I just focus on the music, it helps put me to sleep. On the same note, meditation. If you can do it, it's great! You could try some guided mediations (you can find them on the net, a good one is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvM8
EEt754Q&feature=related). Very relaxing. Hope that helps! emoticon

Congratulations. I know how relieved you must feel. On April 25th, I turned in my last assignment before graduating with my Masters Degree. On Saturday, if you hear a scream around 4pm Eastern Time, it's meet Thanking Jesus for keeping me in my right mind. Enjoy your Summer.

A great start!!!

Saturday, April 17, 2010

I am starting my day off great. I woke up feeling good. My BS was 136. That is the lowest it has been in a long time! I am learning that the devil is a liar and I am going to stop letting people work my nerves. Sometimes when people are not happy, they can't stand to see you happy. I will learn to smile and not let them take me to another place.

Have a wonderful and blessed day my SP family!!! emoticon emoticon

P.S I am feeling this good and I am at work about to work 12 hours. emoticon It feels good to feel good!!!!!!!!! emoticon

Do you drink regular pop? that was the first thing my husband did when dx with diabetes and upon stopping regular soda and switching to diet, he almost completely put the diabetes into check.. that one thing alone..
Hope you are able to do this..
