Journey To Puerto Rico To See My Niece Graduate H.S.: I'll Be 13lbs Lighter!!!

Okay so it's time to get more focused on weight loss. I did lose about 30 pounds, but let's face it, I was REALLY SICK, 6 weeks in the hospital, not the best way to lose it. Well, I'm sure a large portion of that was from the 21 fibriods they took out, so that is good!!!

So I'm looking towards motivation and goals. Intitially when I signed on to SP I wanted to get down to my goal weight of 130lbs by my 2008 b-day (July 26). In order for me to get there or close to it, I really need to step up as much as I can as I recop. from 2 surgeries. I hope I can do it, or get close.

So I think i'll work on loosing 13 lbs by the time I land in Puerto Rico this May 23rd for my only niece's high school graduation. It'll be really HOT out there, so it'll be a good time to buy a really pretty new dress for the occasion. I havn't seen her in 2 years so I pray that it's a blessed and great trip and reunion.

So this blog is for the 13 pound weight loss journey to Puerto Rico. Date: May 23, 2008, that's about 8 weeks. This gives me the 1-2 pound/week flexability! If I lose more GREAT!!! I want to focus more on losing and building my strength.

After I come back from PR I want to continue to lose the weight but also gain muscle as another focus. Why? Well, my goal to get down to 130 pounds by my b-day (which will be an additional 8 to 9 wks once I get back), also includes me wearing a BANGIN' bikini to the beach as I celebrate 34 yrs of life...we'll see how that goes! LOL

So, I'm FOCUSED as I begin this journey to Puerto Rico to see my niece graduate high school.
Today's Weight: 162 lbs
Today's Mood: Ready & Moving Forward...I'm Estactic!!!

    Wow! I had not idea that you had fibroids removed and that many. My mother suffered from that and I am keeping an eye out myself. You go girl! your plan is solid. Keep up the good work!

That sounds exciting!! What a beautiful place, sometimes when I a daydreaming I mentally go to Puerto Rico and imagine I am there. It sounds like you've put together a great plan to achieve your goals for the trip and your birthday. I am enjoying your blogs they are very motivating.

MMIM #3

Okay so for Monday - Wed., (March 10-12th, 2008) I am going to try the following:

* Do a featured SP exercise (same or different one).
* Read a SP Success Story, & leave a comment on their page.
* Continue using Noxzema cleansing skin cream.
* Walk outside.

So, so far I've done the walking outside & Noxzema. Two more to go for this Monday!

It's nice to have short goals of 3 -4 days, not 1 or a whole week. Yesterday, I decided to take Sunday off...a day of rest so to speak!

Thx again my friends for leaving your comments, they are inspirational. I hope that I am also inspiring, motivating or encouraging to you as well!

Motivating Me In March #2

Okay so the past 3 days of motivating myself were interesting. First off, I didn't expect so many responses (THANKS). The words you all shared was a great motavation for me.

So I had 4 goals that I wanted to accomplish over a three day period & this is what happend...

I found that I actually drank more water in 3 days than I had in a weeks time, at least lately. On two occassions, I sipped lemon aid and some hot chocolate. I actually FORGOT, but again, I'm not gonna beat myself up because I am progressing! I also enjoyed time (still enoying, I'm extending my stay) with my parents this weekend. I ate at least 1 cup of fruit, mostly large grapes (which I found out that I LOVE) and cantelope. As far as walking, I did so each day except for Sat...opps! But I did walk around inside, which for me is still good, since I was in a wheel chair not too long ago. I did use it on the night of the musical as well. But I mostly try to walk!

What musical you might ask? Our family went to see The Color Purple musical Friday night. It was GREAT, if you get a chance, see it when it comes close to your town. Okay so I have a great story. I couldn't figure out which size t-shirt to get. I put the Large up to me and then asked to see the X-Large, coaxed by my mom and one of her friends, to see which one would fit better. They looked about the same so I opted for the Large. After the lights went off, I pulled the pre-shrunk stretch shirt over my blouse and it fit fine. After I got home that night I tried it on and found that I could have actually worn the Medium if I had gotten it.

Since I'm loosing weight, it's been hard for me to really see my body's weight loss change. My oncologist recently told me to START SEEING YOURSELF THE SMALLER SIZE THAT YOU ARE. AND STOP SEEING YOURSELF 30 POUNDS HEAVIER! So, I'm trying, others see the change, and I'm trying to see it too. Which is why I'm having a tough time sizing clothes for myself. But I really am trying.

Okay that's it for this time around. When reading your comments from MMIM #1, I came up with a couple of motavational goals for this week/mini-week ahead. Staying motivated is an important part of sticking with the process. I found myself being more active on SP and wanting to do more.

    Oh MrsProverbs, that's fantastic! What a wonderful feeling to realize how far you've come. It sounds to me like you've done a great job with the mini goals, and they are sure to make a difference, and obviously have.

I'm so proud of you! Look how far you've come! You were unable to walk, and now you're walking almost EVERY DAY!!! You were thinking of buying an XL shirt and actually would have fit into a MEDIUM!! That is a huge accomplishment. Your body is an amazing thing, and you are treating it well. Congratulations. I can't wait to hear more.

PS I'm so glad you're enjoying your stay with your parents! If that play comes here, I'll be sure to see it!

It sounds like you had a successful weekend. I haven't seen the Color Purple but understand it will be in Detroit this summer so I do plan on seeing it then.
Isn't it a wonderful feeling when you try on or buy a size bigger than you actually needed?? Sometimes it is hard to mentally change our body image, as I've had the same issue myself, but hey that's a good thing. I like the idea of "MMIM", that's pretty catchy.

"Motivating Me In March #1"

So I'm visiting my parents this week and I thought that I would eat better and stuff. Well, for a little bit I have. But today I'm trying to do even better.

It's Wed. and I will try to follow this plan for the next 3 days (Thurs.-Sat.)!

*Walking
* Drink ONLY H2O as a drink.
*Wash my face with Noxzema (just purchased today) as a facial & apply rose water (just purchased today).
* Eat at least 1 cup of fruit.

Okay, so that's it for now. I hope to write under this BLOG throughout the month of March. I want to think of how I can stay motivated, what motivation means to me when it comes to wellness, etc.

    OK...so God always know and provides what we need...My fam is visiting me here in PHX since I moved here in July 2007 (they are escaping the snow storms in Indiana ...and I must set some mini-goals while they are here so I won't ruin my weight loss thus far...
1. Only drink water...add Wyler's Light if necessary..
2. At least one Naked Juice per day.
3. Exercise daily to the newest WATP 4 Mile DVD...just came in the mail 3.8.08
4. No eating after 6:30-7:00 (as usual, except for fruit cup or Edy's Popsicle)
5. Share my meal with my youngest daughter when we dine at Famous Dave's on Sunday (BBQ...YUMMY).

Thanks for the idea...I needed this...

Motivation is key to losing weight. Developing and coming up with ways to motivate yourself is sometimes my issue. I like your idea which is setting a short term goal then trying to attain it. As motivation tends to fade overtime so it is important to renew the reasons for weight loss. So thanks for sharing.

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I'M OUT THE HOSPITAL
Part 2

Dec. 3, 2007 - Jan. 17, 2008 (hospitalization)
Hello everyone, I've been away for a loooong time. due to planned surgery and an emergency/unplanned surgery several days after.

THANK YOU ALL for your patience and PRAYERS. I'm home as of last night and just wanted to give my thanks and ask for your continued prayers and patience and understanding as I will be recovering and not too active right away.

I have over 12 medications that I came home with and in just a few minutes the LifeLine people will be here to set me up as well as visiting nurses and more set up for my healing help at home.

My parents are here right now, please keep them in your prayers as well!!!

well, I'm getting hot and need to move from this position...u guys were the 1st I'm writing to, and probably the most exhausting thing I'll do today...I'm pooped...

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, and remember I havn't forgotten about u, just been hospitalized for almost 2 months (when I planned for it to just be 3 - 5 days started Dec. 3, 2007. instead it's been Dec. 3, 2007 - Jan. 17, 2008 minus 2 days in Dec.)

I'll explain more detail later, but I got an infection in the hospital after my Abdominal Myomectomy, ended up in CCU after a 2nd surgery Dec. 17th to fix that, ended up w/ heart problems and fluid around my lungs and throughout my body, which I never had...I'll explain later...


PRAISE GOD, I'm alive and I look forward to chatting and challenging with you all later!

Be good to you and stick to your plans for being a healthier you, don't rush anything!
