So Sunday is my Day 2 of Streaking!

Still sick but I knew I had to continue and not miss a day. Actually I think I was going to skip today, but I saw SP's facebook status and REALLY wanted to click the "like" button to say that I did 10+ minutes of fitness. So I closed my laptop, sat up a little bit on the couch, and started working my arms. I did a different move for each minute (I watched the clock change on the dvr LOL).

Anyhow, boy were my arms hurting! emoticon
10 minutes of arm exercises today.

Okay so I choose to start & look forward to the end...how many days will I be able to do???
What am I speaking of? Why SPARKGUY's recent blog/challenge of course!

"Hi all!
I'm starting an experiment. I will try to do a 1,000-day streak of 10+ fitness minutes. I once did a 700-day streak that directly led to the creation of SparkPeople. Today is day 1 with a bike ride around the neighborhood. Hit like if you'll do at least some of the days with me! If enough people consistently do 10+ minutes most days (not the 1,000-day streak part), it will change the world!

So there you have it! How many days will I do, I don't know. But I do know that if I get through 2 days, 5 days, 7 days, a month...hey I'm on my way!

Well, as some of you know I've been down with a cold or virus of some sort for a few days now. But yesterday, I couldn't resist and I vacuumed my place, cleaned out my fan and one of my windows...I couldn't help it! lol

emoticonSo I will say that I had 15-30 minutes of housework on yesterday
Day 1 (April 16, 2011) 203 lbs.
Some may say that's not fitness...but let me tell you, if you could have seen the sweat pouring from my body, you'd change that notion! LOL

I'm still not at my best, but will try to piece together 10 minutes of some form of exercise for today & while I'm sick.

All the best to anyone else who's joining SparkGuy on this journey. For I'm excited that I will be in the race...10 minutes...just 10 minutes every day is an awesome thing to set my mind to.

I'll try to keep you updated. Will you try to do at least 10 minutes daily as well?

    I read Spark Guy's blog, wonder why he doesn't vlog? I think it's a great challenge and should be attainable--only 10 minutes a day. Today is day 3 so I plan on getting some walking in.

For someone who's never gotten through a 5 day streak of exercise, I'm smiling at the chance to get through one week and then beyond. LOL

So glad he said a min. of 10 minutes!

This is my new SparkPage Info. You know me, I like to do a blog, so whenever I change it, I can always have something to look back at! Oh but I did add a few more sentences here. Maybe I'll go back and add it to my page...I'll see!

MY destiny is set. One of God's promises & blessings. One of health, prosperity, grace, love, favor & more of His greatness!

How do/will I move forward? How do/will I run the race the right way for me? What do I need to do?
Diet this, Exercise that, everyone on SP is in the healthy race! I believe that as long as we are on this earth, we can learn & improve. But in reality, we all choose the depth & length of our growth & how hard we want to go at it! Just remember that each person's course will look a lil different, so don't try to be EXACTLY like the next person. It's okay to have a motivator or something/someone for an inspiration. But again, remember...We don't all run or walk the same, we're not the same height, weight...we don't have the same challenges or advantages...
So just do you boo, in a healthy way!!!

Yesterday I read a lesson in a book which included the 2 bible passages below. One of the things that stood out for me was that I need to TURN/Break, SET the journey/Advance, & GO! And that i must Make My Body My Slave, Instead of Being a Slave To My Body! Yes, my health is in need of a REVIVAL! Sometimes these things take a lil more time than we think it ought! lol :o)

BREAK:
the habit of not believing in myself & the ability that's still within me. From my idle times & giving in to not feeling well. Take time to Rest, it's OK & know that I'm getting better so look ahead & not behind!
ADVANCE:
to all that I am capable of. For I Really Can Do All Things Through Christ That Gives Me Strength! BELIEVE IT! EVERY DAY!
GO:
just do it! Exercise like there's no tomorrow...well, actually, like there is a tomorrow! :o) Knowing that all things that work for others may not work for me. And that's okay! Go forth & Let God Be My Guide! My Personal Trainer & Dietian!

Feeling EXTRA Motivation This Morning!!!

WOW feel so motivated this morning!
Woke up with a painfully stiff right foot, but that will be the worst of my day!!

I read some good health articles and put on my UCSB sweats. Made some hot lemon water and am enjoying half a cantalope.

Thinking of what workout I will do. I'm thinking of doing a little bit this morning and maybe a lil this evening...hmmm let's see what happens! emoticon

Well, that's it. Not much of a blog, I just wanted to share the energy that I'm feeling!!! Again, not sure where or how the day will pan out but I'll be feeling/living as the Daily Word devotional for the day said..."FREE" I'm feeling FREE!!!!!

WOW, When It Comes To HCG, Some SP Members Can Be REALLY Mean!

So I've been reading some SP blogs addressing the HCG "diet". And to my surprise a lot of SP members can be pretty mean and downright uninformed. Spreading LIES & "Sound Goods" for the sake of HEALTH. So anywho, I decided to respond to one of the message boards when I saw that there were more people giving negative feedback to a woman who asked a simple question about the diet. BLEW MY MIND! So this is what I wrote:

WOW so many people who want to bash a particular protocol. It's amazing!
I am not on this diet, however I have looked into it for several reasons...and no it's not because I want a quick weight loss or I don't want to go to the gym.

I have several medical issues which lead to a significant weight gain (within about 5 months - over 70lbs), not because of overeating. They include but are not limited to Cancer, Hypothyrodism, Perimenopause, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy...there's more but I'll stop here.

So for me as a young woman, getting pregnant isn't the easiest and neither is losing weight on a healthy "SP" diet. So this would be an option and has been discussed with my Oncologist. And NO she's not pushing it on me for money.

Again, it trips me out how some people jump on a bashing bandwagon without COMPLETE knowledge. I could say more but I'll stop. Because those who want to bash or discourage will & those who want to believe will. I just hope that in the mist of it all, people will remember to be friendly SP members who are respectful and understanding as oppose to just mean and "know it alls". Because every situation is slightly different. We can't all eat and exercise the same way and get the same results...and that's a fact!

@DAINASMITH, it's unfortunate that your friends' weight returned which means that they must not have followed the protocol completely as stated. And if anyone has issues with the 500 calories they can increase it, there is a HCG protocol for more calories including 1200.
As far as developing health problems from sticking to a 500 calorie diet...hmmm, interesting. As there are other 500 cal programs (all of which state that you should be under medical supervision) so it seems "interesting" that HCG was the reason for their "health problems".

Again, I wrote this blog, not because I'm going on the HCG diet but because of my disappointment in the Spark people who have sited only negative "data" AND have been quite harsh to those who have chosen to do the protocol.

And by the way, consuming 500 cal does not mean the people are living on only 500...according to PROVEN theory!

  I know some people from work and a few friends that did the HCG diet, and I would not recommend it. They all thought it was wonderful that the weight came off so fast, and some got other people involved with it, but as soon as they finished the diet, they all regained, some even more than what they lost. So they had basically risked their health on an unproven theory, and were back where they started from. Not surprisingly, some developed health problems from sticking to the 500 calorie a day diet, which made them worse off than they were when they started.

My suggestion would be to try one of the clean eating programs that eliminates anything with chemical additives before you try anything as extreme as the HCG plan, as additives seem to be causing many people to hold onto weight. You might also check out a diet that eliminates certain foods for a period of time to see if you have an undiscovered sensitivity to them.

    You are preaching to the choir on this one. People on here can be brutal and some times down right disrespectful of others. But its only a few so don't let those get us cause us angels outnumber them. emoticon

    I think a lot of it has to do with people WISHING there WAS a secret quick-loss solution. And many of us feeling silly at TRYING various methods that were promising just that. Personally, I went to a diet Dr and got shots of B12 and took phentermine. Oy. Yes, I lost weight, but because I didn't yet have the knowledge or tools to maintain weight (much less lose it working WITH my body) as soon as I stopped I gained back about 20 of the 25lbs I had lost-I mean within 2 months.

My personal belief for most instances is: We need to have sustainable solutions. If it's not something you can do for life, it probably won't work. Now, that's not to say there are not extenuating circumstances such as yours where your body is already having to battle illness and/or foreign chemicals (Rx).

Anyway, my point is: We have all participated or seen people partake in the whole lose-weight-quick schemes that are out there and it seems that most do not work. So when we hear of something new making the rounds, well, it provides a rather strong response. I'm not excusing people for being nasty, I guess I just understand why it evokes such a passionate response.
