A Day To Throw It Away... Clean Beginnings

On Monday I will have an interview at my house and I really NEED to have my place CLEANED to a T (what does a t stand for anyway?)!

So I was just thinking that I have so much clutter that I won't be able to really get through everything (in terms of sorting through, that never works). So I think that I might just start throwing it all away. Even the good stuff. I have LOTS of books, papers, gifts, kitchen appliances, LOTS of clothes, nick knacks, you name it it's almost in my home!

I have a real problem with the "I might need it later, I can still use it, I could sell it (on Ebay or the swapmeet across the street, or give-it-away", so much that I can't seem to really have a clean house, or parking lot storage space or get rid of my renting storage room! Yes I have clutter in all three of those places.

So is it bad when I get to the point when I feel like I just have to throw stuff away? I mean, I want to have a nice neat and clutter free place like I used to. It's just the hardest thing for some reason to get back the life I use to have. It's draining I know... so maybe I can actually have a better chance at a clean beginning if I use this Saturday as a day to throw it away!

I think I have to keep saying it so that it actually happens. Well any help, encouragement, inspiration or suggestions to help get me to a successful clean day, is welcomed! Thanks!

I live in an apartment but did live in a house at one time. I saved things I never used. One day a month I go through everything. If I don't need it or use it I get rid of it. Report Inappropriate Comment

Thanks for your input ladies, I really appreciate it! You know, I would love to give to those who lost in the fire. The only problem is that they are asking that people ONLY give if their MONEY and TIME. I will donate some, possibly to my church so they can use it in their rummage sales (whatever is left from that sale theygive to local thirft shops). Also I really could use the money myself. I mostly threw away papers and old medicine bottles. I still have much to do. So I'll see what I can accomplish before noon tomorrow. Thanks again! Report Inappropriate Comment

Not too long ago our church leaders said that unless you really need the money, it is better for you to donate usable items to people who need them than to sell the items. With all the homes that were destroyed in your area recently, there must be people who would totally appreciate anything you could donate. Good luck tossing. I would put them in a box and head to the closes place to donate them. There are so many needy people out there that need things. Unless they are broken I would not toss them in the trash. I was there once and really appreciated the help and now I give back to the places that helped me before. I don't know if it's bad but we're in the same boat. You sound like me...only much braver! I've been slowly trudging my way through the house trying to reduce the clutter for the past month. It's so hard that I have to just toss it all into boxes and put them in the car to haul away to donate before I lose my nerve. We have totes filled with clothes that my kids have outgrown (my son is 16, daughter is 9...needless to say YEARS of clothes). Maybe it's a women trait to "save" everything because we might need them later lol. Both my husband and my son are minimalists...I really envy them. My daughter and I on the other hand are the worst packrats. I had to pry away her toddler toys from her that she hasn't played with in five years. Good luck on your clean and toss day! Transfering My Spark Page. I want to make room for a timed weigh-in on my page (11/15/08)

I'm here like many, in the pursuit of loosing weight, getting healthy & staying active! I have lost and gained weight while on SP, but hands down, I'm still here because I enjoy the motivation, inspiration, support and accountability.

I hope...NO... I look forward to seeing my body change for the better. And I see that change coming real soon. I love me, and my parents are most supportive in the way I look right now which I love and am thankful for. My health of course is important to them, but they are just glad that I'm alive, because I came real close to not being around too many times (cancer, recent hospital surjuries and all). So I must continue to take care of myself by taking my meds, taking it easy (not doing too much), being stress free and taking one day at a time!

I'm not a "skinny" person by any means but I carry myself well and I think that makes a difference. And I must say, I do look good! I just figure while I'm trying to remember that health is first before weight loss (I keep doing it the other way around because sometimes I just want to be small like I was before), hopefully I'll drop several pounds as well!!!

So move over thyroid, cardio, hormonal, chronic fatigue, fibro., medication side effects, etc....I'm pushing through all of it with the power of the Lord!!! My Pursuit of Being Healthy & F.I.T. (Faithfully In Tune/Touch) with God begins everyday with His grace! ~RYC (11.10.2008 update)


(11/13/08 Update) I recieved my Healthy Solutions Quick Start Diet Kit last night. YAY!!! My plan is to officially start the HMR Program Nov. 17th and to do it for 3 months. I also have planned "out of the box" days: Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's, these days I will eat some family food.

Valentine's Day will be the 3 month evaluation point. I'll see where I am and if I want to continue. I hope to keep up with the HMR 2,000 calories of PA (physical activity) and met or even surpass my SP Goal of being 185 lbs. by then.

I also started a HMR Program Sparkers team. It's for those who want to know more about HMR, get extra support while doing the diet or in maintance phase.

Whatever path you chose to help get your body to a healthier you, make sure you do just that. Do it the healthy way! Take Care!

Tea FIRE Update

With prayers going out to all who have and are loosing their homes and other posessions.
I recieved an Evacution Warning by the Sheriff's Alert call this morning @ 5:11am. I have not had a mandatory call.

Things appear to be getting better, But it's 0% contained and they still tell us to be careful and watchful.

Lots of smoke and ash embers, so I'm trying to keep my health in order the best I can. Thank you all for your words and prayers. I'll try to keep you all updated!!!

11/15/08 Saturday morning update: Outside literally looks and smells like the inside of a chimney! It's pretty bad. I will stay in as much as I can. Do some cleaning and resting. I'm sure I'll have to go out, but I'll try not to.
I also found out that an older church member and her husband lost their home in the fire. There are over 111 homes that were lost so far, so my prayers stay with them all.

a FIRE in My Santa Barbara Backyard & I Don't Want To Evacuate!

Well, we have another fire. This time it's a lot closer. I'm live in Santa Barbara, CA and am less than 3 miles below the fire (as of now, it's still not contained yet. so it keeps getting closer). I pray that no more homes or people get burned, and that I don't have to evacuate. But I'm doing some packing up. I also have friends who have had to leave their homes.

My asthma & breathing has been effected, but I'm doing okay. I can see the fire from my home, that's how close it is. The helicopters keep flying over my roof and I don't know if I'll get any or much sleep.

My parents want me to just leave and drive north to get a hotel. Or that at least have my BF come over and stay with me. I think he's on his way...

Well, I pray that things work out and get contained REAL SOON!!! And I'll keep the t.v. on Channel 3 News, unless the power goes out again. And I'll do like they say; just be prepared to evacuate.

Not sure if I'll get to write tomorrow but I'll try! It will keep me calm, thinking about writing on SP again! There goes another helicopter!

I've seen this on our news channel. I am sorry and am praying. I have asthma too and I know this can not be easy. Added stress of the threat of fires. This may not be popular but I have seen the other activities going on there also. God is not please and he is getting of a bunch of stuff. I pray the maddness goes soon!
