A NEW YEAR: A NEW ME

emoticon Well, I suppose many of you have begun to assume that I have just disappeared into think air, but no I am still around. I answer my Sparkmail. I need to get back to blogging though.

So here goes.

I have decided that I am going to get my weight down this year. I am going to make it real. I am going to make it happen. If you saw some of my blogs from last summer I did an intense amount of Zumba and swimming and lost some weight, a couple pant sizes and thankfully only gained 5 pounds back (last weigh in last week). emoticon

I have made some positive changes towards my spark goal, including:

1) emoticon started attending a weight loss small group at a local non-denominational Christain Church. This group is going to be following the Daniel plan, the new book by Pastor Rick Warren the mega-pastor of the mega-Saddleback Church and best selling author of my mother's favorite book The Purpose Driven Life. I'm not sure exactly what this entails yet, I'm buying the book tomorrow, but I believe it focuses on eating whole foods, exercise and all that sensible healthy stuff that I so desperately need. First meeting was last Sunday and we watched a video about Food. and it covered America's dependence on prescription pills and junk food and our national aversion to vitamin supplimenets and how good food can heal your body. All good stuff. It's a 12 week think and I'm in for the 12.

2) emoticon Started walking with my best-friend-from-Maine, Gail. Gail from Maine and I used to walk 4.2 miles daily around our hometown of Ashland Maine. We were notorious for these walks and our bottoms got significantly thinner as a result. We miss this because I now live in Georgia! Well thanks to modern technology we have decided to walk together every night at 8PM. We use our cell phones and earphone/mics and I walk around the one mile loop I live on (sometimes with my Chihuahua emoticon ) and she is (for now) using her treadmill in her living room because its really snowy, icy and cold in Northern Maine right now. We gossip while we walk and it's like we're together, but we are not. It's awesome. So far this week we've done it twice, Monday night (3 miles) and Wednesday night (3 miles).

3) emoticon Eating much less. I am trying to cut back / cut out Diet Soda emoticon (my secret addiction) as well as cutting out the red meat and port. I am sticking to chicken and fish emoticon , for now and trying to eat much more Raw Foods emoticon (this was recommended at my Food Group meeting at the church.) emoticon I'm also drinking more water but not as much as I need to!!!

These are the things that I want to do more of:

1) emoticon a ton more water, like 265 oz a day or so. 2 liters when I get up in the morning. Before coffee.

2) more exercise preferably dance emoticon ( I want a dancer's body so I got to dance.)

3) more gym time emoticon (going to take my son to the one we belong to and also going to join a second one to go to with my friend.


So that's what's going on with me; exercise-wise. There are some new exciting personal developments emoticon as well which I will be chronicling as well. I promise to show my face on the vLog emoticon because I need to set those teams on FIRE!

    Ooh I've seen that book and I'm curious. I have my own plan going on with weight loss that's pretty much working so if it's a plan I prob. wouldn't follow it but I'm sure it is just chalked with good information.. please share what you learn or what you like from the book in future blogs :-)

I just decided I'd work on walking more too :-) Just bought a treadmill.. it's coming Jan. 31st to my door step lol That shall be an adventure.. even if it's only indoors :-P

And yes more dancing for me too .. Just Dance is calling my name in about 5 or so mins lol

    OK..... I love that you are into tracking your fitness minutes. I am going to do that too now. Good plan. I am going to set a goal for 1000 minutes. That sounds like a lot. but I needed something to motivate me to get back to work.
I have been doing more reading than anything this week. Not so good on the waistline.

    Hi Andi...Great goals. Yes..I have started using SparkPeople and it gets easier every day. It's going to be fun to watch your blogs...I'm going to go back and look at all the other ones. There is so much on this site!!! I am learning how to track my food, my fitness, my water and I know how to go to your page now and check out what you're doing. BOOTCAMP ANDREA UPDATE: VLOG Is My Face Thinner?

It's been exactly 2 weeks since I started BootCamp Andera. I've been swiimming, lifting weights, kettlebelling and doin Zumba. I have completed 500 fitenss minutes and lost at least 12 pounds. Going well, I'd say.

    I am so proud of you. Yes your face looks thinner!
So again you inspire me.
I know that I can reach my goal. I too am on the right track at this moment.
Since Monday I have worked out every day. I am eating right and feeling very strong and optimistic. I have lost 2 pounds this week already.

I need you to come to Calif and show me how to Vlog on the new computer. I would do it now if I could figure out how. Maybe one of my kids will be able to show me.
We will see.

UPDATE: Bootcamp Andrea Week 1 Day 1

Okay, not a lot of information about Bootcamp Andrea. But it is Day 1 Week 1. In this video I do reccommend my favorite air popper for popcorn. I also talk about the two gyms I have joined, my new fad diet "No AC in the Grand Marquis", the benefits of real butter vs. margerine, why old is not a negative word, newly wearing a size 22 and my need to buy a new scale.

LOL I love your backtracking on the word old. I am still laughing.
trust me no worries.
FYI I'm guess I'm old having been married long enough to join that club. (45 years)
and having a great grand daughter. But I heard once that old is just ten years older than however old you are. I'm going with that definition.

    emoticon size 22 yippee! but no A/C the very thought makes me sweat. I took your air popper in account - not too noisy- and that's a bonus... seems to be a anonymous consumer report online favorite plus the sale $ - I can handle (in what I won't be spending in oil) ... all in all I'm heading over to wallyworld and see what gives... emoticon by the way background is not lost on me happy PoPpinG emoticon

    Zumba is so fun! I cannot attest for classes I'm sure they are even more awesome than my home experience. But here where I am we don't have such a nice price on Zumba so I cannot do classes right now. I am looking forward to going swimming as well but again.. here in Greater Boston they wanna bleed you dry of money so I can only go a few times a month. Luckily my gym is cheap so my summer plan is I'll be doing elliptical and weight training at the gym and when I don't feel like that fitness trampoline, Zumba, and dance games at home :-)

    Zumba! That sounds fun! Maybe I should look into that instead of torturing myself jogging in the heat. Congratulations on the shrinking clothing size!! emoticon Hope you get A/C in the car -- that sounds miserable. emoticon I used to love popcorn, but I like it drenched in butter, so I have going to have to hold off on it for a bit longer. I'm getting much more used to eating healthier foods and the taste of fattening or sugary foods is kind of overwhelming to me now -- not sure if I'm ready to try popcorn yet though. :) Keep up the great work! :)
