Super Saturday

Saturday, September 12, 2009

I babysat the little ones today from 7:15 to about 1:30. We had an awesome time. As we were baking bread for a bakesale, Josie learned firsthand how to punch down the dough and make her own little loaf of bread. Pretty exciting for a 4 year old!
We had a carshow in town so we saw some very "sweet" machines. Too many good eats
so nutrition was not on track but it was such a gorgeous day and evening that I treated
myself. Back to task tomorrow.
Sleep well, everyone. I'll put in more details after a good night's rest. Brain is getting a little
fuzzy here. emoticon

You are giving your grandchildren some great memories, just as my grandmother did me. I will always treasure the time I got to spend with her as a child and young adult. Time just goes by too fast!

Funtastic Friday!

Friday, September 11, 2009

It's Friday again and it is surprising how fast the week goes when you are one work day short. Last night DH and I worked through 2 5 gallon pails of wild plums. We pitted them and I cooked them down and ran the product through a sieve. Over 16 quarts of juice to be cooked
into jam or jelly sometime in the cold winter months. Some were as large as my thumb but
most were a lot smaller so it took a little time to pit them.
David has his first home football game of the year. It is my night to take the ambulance out
to the game and be ready for anything. At least I get a good view of the field! He says he gets
to start on the kickoff play. After that, who knows?
I had two ambulance runs this week. One was a heart attack that was brewing. The other
was exposure to toxic fumes. The person was using a product to loosen adhesive from a
wood floor. Both windows in the room were open but no breeze from outside and no fan
inside to stir the air. Patient came home that evening and states "I'm not doing that again".
The spouse agrees!
I have gotten back on track after the fair. Staying in all my guidelines, getting plenty of exercise and sleep and drinking my water. I have been spending time working in the
basement and rearranging fruit jars and canned food so I can find what I am looking for at
any given time. It's got to get done sometime.
Have a great weekend-more tomorrow!

Hope your son's team won and that you didn't have to take any players off the field! My grandmother use to can jellies and all sorts of things when I was little but I haven't ever done anything like that. I know it is a lot of work, I remember watching my grandmother but I also know it tastes better than anything you can buy in the store, I remember that too.

Last update on the fair

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Well, Monday was the last day of the fair and it is always such a process to get loaded up
and pulled out for home. We went to the last perfromance of the troupe, then zipped over to the poultry barn for the chicken auction. Everything sold pretty well and some of David's
chickens brought a very good price.
We ate at the food court and 5 girls from the troupe were hanging all over that "little"
guy of ours. He was pretty excited with all the attention.
Back to the camper to box up the groceries from the cabinets and all the refrigerated goods
needed to get packed in coolers. It took until almost 5 before we could leave. It was a
pretty pleasant drive home. Then unload chickens and put the goats away. I took a peek
in the garden. Lots of cukes and tomatoes to pick-just not then.
Home to start washing the 6 loads of laundry for the start of the work week. Jeans went
first since DH said he only had one clean pair left. How many pairs do you need for the
next day? LOL!
It was a great 3 day break that went way too fast.
Have a great evening! emoticon
