Gardening season begins

Saturday, March 24, 2012

Today we spent 2 1/2 hours in the garden. DH tilled and I set
up rows for radishes, beets, spinach, carrots, lettuce, peas
and kohlrabi. It was a most pleasant day with just a light
breeze and plenty of sunshine. I think it went quite well.
I washed 4 loads of laundry and hung it outside. After
chores, I made sure to wash 3 pairs of tennis shoes.
They really needed to be freshened up. My pair of shoes
are the ones I wear walking. But after the garden and the
barn, it was either wash them or leave them outside
for the night LOL!
Tonight we treated DS to an 18th birthday dinner. He and
DH both had steak with shrimp, tossed salad and
french fries or a baked potato with the works. I chose
my usual salad with grilled chicken. Even with a few
french fries and a bite of the loaded baked potato, I
am just under my range for the day. So I can have a
snack just before bed, if I choose.
Joy of joys! Today I bought myself an iPad and it should
be here next week. I am so excited! New technology-
woohoo!
Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for stopping by.
HUGS!

Oh how wonderful to be able to have fresh produce that you have
grown yourself!! If only I had the room, I would so love to plant a vegtable garden!
Congratulations on the I-Pad......you are so going to love it.
I adopted my DH's and now claim it as mine. I cant even sit and watch a tv program at night without having it in my lap and
checking out one thing or another each night. Especially Spark people. emoticon

Oh, I would LOVE to live in a place someday where I would have room for a garden! When I lived in NY (In Brooklyn) my apartment had these great bay windows so I had room (and enough light) to plant herbs and cherry tomatoes in pots. When the tomato plants got really big, I had access to our roof so I took them up there. It was really fun. My current apartment does not get that kind of light and doesn't really have the right kind of windows or space to do this. Someday!

Glad you got the veggies in. All that hard work has such a great reward. I have noticed lately that no matter what any one else is eating I tend to stick with "safe" foods. I pretty much have eliminated red meat...not intentionally just like chicken and fish so much more. I know you will have a wonderful Sunday. Spark on my friend, spark on. emoticon

I don't have a veggie garden but I plant lots of flowers! This year we have a huge tree that must be removed as most of it has no green on it this year! You did well on your eating out! I am not sure I would be that strong Lizzy!

Great Friday!

Friday, March 23, 2012

It was such a beautiful day and it was nice to be outside.
Now I have laundry and cleaning to finish before I tackle
some bookwork. If I get as much done as I want, I will
go for a walk before bedtime. Or I might go for a walk
because it feels so good.
DS2 has a new job starting April 2nd. He will drive 16
miles one way to go to work. The pay is good and he
will adjust to new surrounding and coworkers. His
former boss was concerned if he had found a job. But
she gave him an excellent reference and I think that
helped immensely.
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by.
HUGS!

Glad to hear of your son's new job.

Moving ahead

Thursday, March 22, 2012

The week is progressing at such a quick pace again
and tomorrow is Friday. WOW! The weekend is almost
here. Time to plan for the activites we want to get done.
I am sure we'll change our minds or something will
change them for us.
DH found a replacement car and purchased it today.
We had looked at several on Saturday and he was
having a "diffiicult" time coming to a decision. He
did ask my opinion but since he will be driving the car
99% of the time, it seemed pointless. At least I knew
what he wanted better than he did. He had gone with
his mother and brother to do some legal work so he
rode with them to the lawyer's office so he could
drive the car home. Then, after doing chores, he
said I could drive it home. After being in the goat
shed, I decided to just drive my pickup home. At
least one vehicle will smell fresh and new. How
long it will stay clean is yet to be seen. DS2 drove
it briefly before supper and liked it. Of course, the
18 year old was delighted that dad had bought him
a car for college! Reality check! But worth a good
laugh.
I am off for my walk now since the weather is so
gorgeous yet at 9 pm.
Have a great Friday and thanks for stopping by.
HUGS!

Ah, the joy of 18 yr olds and vehicles. I am glad that is all past. My DS wanted me to take the granddaughter out and let her drive my car - ha ha ha is what I said, and then I told him teaching he and his brother to drive was stressful enough-he got to teach his daughter.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Delight and Disappointment

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

The delight-DS turned 18 today at 12:48 am.
He played a very good game last night and had so
much fun playing with some of his former competitors!

The disappointment-the battery on the camera was so
close to dead that I was unable to take any pictures.
DD took several on her camera and I hope to get them
from her. She also took pics of DS and her 2 children
after the game.

The delight-it is another gorgeous day. I love spring!

The disappointment-I need to be inside when I want
to be outside.

Have a day of delights! Thanks for stopping by! HUGS!

Happy Birthday to your son. 18 is such a wonderful time!!! So glad that you got to watch him play even if the camera didn't co-operate. I remember taking tons of pictures at my DD's sweet 16th birthday party only to find out there was no film in the camera...back in the day. Hope you are able to get copies of the pictures.

Glad your DS is 18, I can remember wanting to be 18 forever when I was young LOL Next year I turn 50 and I am still happily telling people 'I am almost 50' just like I did when I was almost 18. I think the years going toward 50 have gone by a lot faster than they did going from 16 to 18 LOL
We had Rain here today and rain expected tomorrow. My yard and tulups are loving it!!!!!

Sun peeking out today

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The skies are clearing and so is my mind. Cloudy days
can be a little depressing but keeping a positive attitude
because today is the first day of SPRING!
DH and I baked a full batch of bread last night and I
baked a pineapple upside down cake for Lenten Services.
I want to take it down to church today before we go to
DS's Conference All-Star basketball game. We will get to
see him play one last time as a senior. The camera is
definitely coming along tonight.
I am moving forward today. Yesterday, I was in retreat mode.
I was retreating from the extra goodies that were present on
the weekend and know it is time to focus on my goals again.
The angelfood cake is gone, thanks to DS and DH getting
it off the plate. One less thing to be calling my name and
distrating me.
Have a terrific Tuesday and thanks for stopping by. I will
try to have some nice pics from tonight's game. Wish me
luck! HUGS!
