Can it get any better?

Monday, February 13, 2012

Just a light dusting on the ground this morning and the
snow melted enough so that sweeping it was passed
over for more urgent things.
The day went well and we made significant headway
with customer service needs this morning. Everyone
was in such a good mood. It was fun! I am still waiting
for a call back from the company on my accounting
software glitch. I could be in for a long wait.
Our second nanny finally kidded this afternoon and
the GC were introduced to the 3 new baby nannies.
They are Baylee, Bayou and Bunny. The mother is
very gentle and also protective of her new little ones.
Poor DH was confused and kept calling her by the
wrong name. I finally pointed out each one and they
all knew their names. He just laughed and said that
was my department to tell them apart.
I will post pics as soon as I get a chance. DS just
accepts that mom will name the babies and do
the paperwork for their pedigrees. Next year he
will be in college so he is willing to turn that over
to me. I have been doing it all this time so I guess
I must be doing something right LOL!
He is concentrating on scholarships and the usual
fine details that come with being a senior. Tomorrow
night's bb game is the last home game of the regular
season. It is also Senior Night and he and another
boy are almost at the end of their school careers.
Bittersweet but both are ready to move on to other
things.
Life can be worse than this but it can always get
better. Stay positive and focused because the best
is yet to come.
Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by.
HUGS!

Warmer days are coming

Sunday, February 12, 2012

The last frigid blast seems to have departed the area. Good
riddance. We have kept the wood furnace going and it is
very pleasant inside.
DS1's girlfriend came to visit him this weekend. She called
to ask if it was okay. We had met her once and she is a very
pleasant girl. She came to church and sat with us today.
After church, we went to DD's house for coffee and treats.
I took both large pans of cinnamon rolls and long johns. They
were a hit. She talked with everyone and seemed to enjoy
herself. She wears two hearing aids but she reads lips
well and is fairly easy to understand when she talks. DS
was very content to share her with us.
We invited both of them for lunch. She offered to help
clean up the dishes but I refused so DS could go home and
get his laundry done. She will come to visit again next month.
Sunday in drawing to a close and tomorrow I hope to have
answers as to why my bookkeeping program is being
difficult. The company is to call me. If need be, I will do
all my work by hand, the same as last year. I had wanted
to avoid that, but so be it.
Have a wonderful evening and thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

Warming up the house

Saturday, February 11, 2012

DH started the wood furnace yesterday at noon while I was
getting a hair cut and I've kept it going ever since. The sun
is shining today but there is a bite to the air. It will start
to warm up tomorrow and for the next few days, be nice
and above normal.
We babysat GS this morning and he was so good. He played
with his toys, helped Papa make bread and watched me
roll out the cinnamon rolls and long johns. I made 2 separate
batches of dough and took my time baking so every roll is
golden brown, top AND bottom. Last week we had an issue
with black. It is nice as a color but I prefer a lighter shade on
my baked goods LOL!
I am making soup for supper and have plans for a quiet
evening, just folding clothes. I still need to do my ST so I
better get to it.
Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by! HUGS!

Ahhhh I remember our wood burning fireplace in a house we used to own here in FL. It was SOOOO funny...we'd have to turn the A/C on real low...so that we could use the fireplace some years...is that crazy or WHAT? emoticon When we built the house we are now living in I said...no fireplace...it just doesn't make sense. Still miss those nights of watching the logs burn though... emoticon There's something sooo peaceful about that scene. emoticon

I have to admit I miss our woodburning fireplace and wish we had replaced it with a new one instead of the gas fireplace. SIGH

Sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day. Hugs

Wood furnace...mmmmmmm that's good heat!!! Almost wish we could do that, but house is really small and my allergies would never be able to live with it, but it sure gets expensive with propane and electric space heaters and then to only have one nice, warm room. Glad you are keeping warm. It got pretty frigid here last night, too, but the sun today is lovely and got up to43F!!!
Stay warm and safe! Have a great afternoon and evening!!!

Yum!!!!! Bread! emoticon emoticon

Turn up the heat, turn off the wind!

Friday, February 10, 2012

The temperature is 5 degrees above zero with winds gusting
from 21 to 29 mph so the wind chill is 9 degrees below zero.
Yeah, it is winter is South Dakota.
DS has a pretty tough time at the game last night as he
rolled his "good" ankle in the first quarter. He kept playing
until there was a time out. His brother went home to get him
another ankle brace. He sat out part of the game but did
finish. He went to see his buddy, the chiropractor, as soon
as he had showered and he treated him. He spent the
night on the couch. Walking up the steps to his bedroom
seemed like a bad idea. Plus, he needed to be up early for
practice. He went but I am sure practicing was the last
thing he did.
I had an appointment for a haircut on my lunch break
so I ate lunch at my desk, the first time in a very long time.
Now it is back to business.
So for anyone with access to the controls on the thermostat
and the fan, please consider changing the numbers around.
Temp of 29 and wind at 5 mph would be much better. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day! HUGS!

Burrr burrr and more burr. Cold is one thing but cold winds are another thing entirely. I've always been so intrigued with Chicago and really thought at one time I'd love to live there...but after visiting it one winter...I know EXACTLY why they call it the windy city...it was freezing and the winds made it even MORE so.

Hope DS is doing better...he is a dedicated player and his team is lucky to have him. emoticon

Right now, it's 6 with a wind chill of -9; our 1/2 inch snowstorm that was predicted ended up being 3.5 inches blown around by gusty winds. I went to the grocery store at lunchtime so I could go right home after work and it was like being in a blizzard. The roads weren't terrible but the visibility? Much different story. By the time I was ready to go home, the sun came out and, if you didn't go outside, it was a pretty afternoon.

Each day done is a day closer to Spring!

Brrrr!!!!! I thought we were cold, but we're balmy in comparison (mid 40's) and 20's at nite for the weekend. Know what you mean about the wind. We are calm now, but why is there seemingly more wind when it's cold that makes you colder than in the summer when it could provide a cooling relief? hehe That's mother nature for ya! By and large, it's all good and the bad will soon pass.......or..........this, too, shall pass! LOL!
Sorry about your son hurting his ankle!! Hope it is not hurt badly!!
Have a great day, my friend!!! ((HUGS))

OVERHAULING-ME 2/10/2012 5:34PM

Brrr! Definitely NOT pleasant weather! I hope it improves soon!

How is our son doing today? I have boys that play high school bball too. My junior rolled his ankle off of another player a month ago and ended up tearing the two ligaments that support the ankle. He's been in a walking boot, crutches and now a brace. Today is our last game before heading into State playoffs. My son is hoping to be healthy enough to play if they make it in. Just a reminder for your son. Our PT reminded my boys. When you're doing your basic workouts ALWAYS focus on the flexibility and strength of ankles!

I hope you enjoyed your haircut! I LOVE how relaxing it is!

Ouch with your son! That is dedication trying to play thru the pain. I hope the chiro helped and that he gives this time to mend. Sprains are so painful . :(

I agree on the temps. Even my dog ran outside and did her duty asap and was right back at the door...no snooping or barking on her agenda today.

My plans for exercise are indoors for sure.

Quick blog

Thursday, February 09, 2012

I got through the week of meetings and tonight DS has
a BB game here in town. I need to go pick the eggs and
milk the goat, making sure to clean up before I go.
Otherwise there may be a open area of seating around
me LOL! Then the conversation would be about me,
instead of the game. Got my chore shoes ready to go.
GD will be in the grade school cheerleader group for
a performance during half time of the varsity game.
This should be fun.
Catch up with you later tonight or tomorrow. Have
a great evening and thanks for stopping by. HUGS!
