Get Serious!

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

One Act Play troupe members were awarded 2nd place and
will travel to the State contest on February 3rd. DS and several
others received favorable comments on their performance.
DS's basketball game was exciting and the team won! They will
play a much tougher team tomorrow night.
Get serious, you weather forecasters!
The weatherman played a trick on us. We were predicted to get
less than 1/2 inch of snow but ended up with 4-5 inches of very
light, fluffy snow. One station's forecaster even apologized
for being wrong. This morning it was very foggy and school
started one hour late.
Get serious! Plan ahead, track, get active and get enough sleep.
All good tools to help you get serious and meet your goals.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day. HUGS!

The more tools the meteorologists use the less they get the weather forecast right....go figure. Here at SP we have all the latest, greatest tools to help us to succeed and we have more than a 98% chance of succeeding.......how great is that. Congrats to the One Act Play Troupe and WTG basketball team. And you MSLIZZY, take some time for yourself today....you deserve it. emoticon

Me, I'm getting serious with me.
Keep it up!

Our forecasters have had little boo-boo's lately, too, but not debilitating like yours turned out to be! Sorry about that, dear! He was a good guy, though and apologized! I guess the key here is, to know they only read the weather, not create it. Once in a while, mother nature chooses not to share her intentions! Oh well. This, too, shall pass! Stay safe and warm and well!!! emoticon

One Act Play

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Of the 68 high school students, 42 are participating in the
One Act Play, either as members of the cast or the crew.
That is almost 63% of the entire enrollment, which says a
lot about participation in a small school. They are now
waiting their turn to perform and will receive the critiques
as soon as they are finished. DS is the leading male cast
member and is carrying a lot of responsibility on his
shoulders. I do hope all goes well. He seemed very
confident this morning before he left. May the sun shine
on their performance.
Last night's concert was fantastic. The band was split
into 2 groups, concert and symphonic. Of the 7 students
that attended, 5 were awarded first chair honors. The
concert group performed first and was mainly comprised
of those students who were of high caliber and had
submitted an audition tape judged to worthy of participation.
Four of the students were in that group and the music
was excellent.
The last 3 students were in the symphonic group, judged
to be superior in skills, although the dividing line was very
fine. DS was awarded first chair in the trombone section
and also performed a solo. That selection was composed
and finished just the night before the concert. The conductor
was also the composer and lead the group in a very lively
number.
MIL rode down to the concert with us and was very impressed
and thankful that she was a part of such a wonderful
evening of band music. As a side note, DS received a letter
today, outlining the marching band program and does it
ever reveal the excellent course of study that DS has
already to chosed to be a part of. So many advantages that
were non-existent when I went to college.
Okay, I am done bragging about the little man LOL!
The day went well and I stayed on track on all counts. That
sometimes get tricky when you attempt to do too much
in one day. So now I better get back to work as my lunch
break is over and the phone is ringing. Have a super day!
Stay on track and "toot your own horn" when you succeed!
Thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

Out and About Tonight

Monday, January 23, 2012

DS left the house early to go to a band event. It is the Quad State
Honors Band, being held at the u where he wil be attending college
this fall. He had neglected to tell us that there was a concert tonight
and then called to ask if we were coming. After a short time, we
called MIL and, of course, she wanted to go. The weather has
settled down and she will arrive in time for us to be there early.
Supper will be on the fly, so to speak. My beef stew from last
night is history as DS and DH finished it at lunch time.
So, I'm off to the races (or concert) and will share all the
details tomorrow.
Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

Enjoy your evening!!

Mother Nature's Revenge

Sunday, January 22, 2012

I must have really ticked her off yesterday as she sent Brother Wind
to rearrange my handiwork. I reshoveled our sidewalk and driveway
last night after the play, went to church to set up for communion
today and as I drove past DS2's house, I saw where he heaped
another long drift of snow right next to the parked car. Naughty
boy! So after church and coffee with the family, I went back to
undo the damage. First, I moved the car, shoveled the snow off
and discovered that the mild temperatures had made it a mushy,
heavy mess. Another 30 minutes of shoveling and it looked pretty
good. Now, Mother Nature is shaking her fist and making it snow.
She got the last laugh, for now.
I am almost caught up with laundry and have bread dough rising
in the bowls. Beef stew is bubbling in the crockpot and I do hope
it is ready by 6, when all the boys should be home for supper.
I still plan to mop the kitchen and living room but with the new
snow, it might be a wasted effort. One trip through with wet shoes
and I'll be back at it. More cardio, right?
Have a great evening and an awesome week. Thanks for stopping
by. HUGS!

Have a fantastic week.

I can smell your bread baking and it smells sooooooooooooooooo goooood!!! I have to limit what bread I eat so I don't bake it anymore, but I have a whale of a good imagination and some very sensitive smelling mechanisms. We have not had much snow this year and I am waiting for the shoe to drop, I have made up my mind that if we get snow that needs to be scooped we will just be staying home. Jeff can no longer do the scooping and I am not going to even attempt it until the testing is all done and they do what ever they are going to do with me. I don't want to take a chance on having a heart attack. So if it snows all go canceled until we don't have to scoop.
God bless
Barb

Our winter travels and more

Saturday, January 21, 2012

Our trip to the basketball game was pretty windy with just a
few visibility issues. But we arrived in plenty of time to watch
the JV team win a very close and exciting game.
The varsity team had a more difficult time and lost 59 to 26.
But DS had a great defensive game and even scored a 3
point basket.
The trip home was much nicer and MIL was able to drive over
to see DS as one of the leads in the One Act Play. There were
a few miscues but the entire audience enjoyed it. As a matter
of fact, we had the biggest attendance ever tonight. But the
extra poeple who attended were also there for a very special
reason. The director, who is also DS's godmother, had turned
50 on the 17th and her husband arranged for a surprise
birthday party after the play. The entire cast and crew knew
about it and kept it a secret. It was awesome.
They served cheese, meat and crackers, filled cupcakes,
ice cream and juice. She is one very special lady!
On that happy note, I will save some things for tomorrow.
HUGS and sweet dreams, SParkers!
