Should I be Surprised?

Friday, December 23, 2011

After my marathon night of baking and doing laundry so I could
be ahead of the game, I had just settled in bed and the pager
went off. Our response time was under 5 minutes. We needed
to transfer an older man from town to the nearest hospital. His
whole demeanor screamed emergency. This was one of those
calls that had me baffled. Had I known more of his medical
history, I would have seen it for what it was. However, he comes
from a much larger city and was only visiting a friend. She did
try to give us as much information as she could, but the gaps
were enough to keep us guessing. He was transfered back home
to his regular doctor and will be just fine. But the 1 1/2 hours we
were gone took a chuck out of my night.
I spent 2 hours cleaning house with the GD helping me as best
a 6 year old can. She was truly a blessing and it left me time to
do other things. After a lunch of pancakes, (GC's request), we
settled down to watch a video and grandma promptly took a nap.
It sure felt good. The four loads of laundry from yesterday are
all folded and out away. The 3 loads from today will be done
before bedtime. Now to convince the laundry elves to get busy!
Since the GC are here for a few more hours, the wrapping of the
presents will wait until they go home. I still have the living room
and den to clean but it is still doable.
The menu is all planned for our Christmas meal tomorrow. The
whole family will be here so the house will be full. We will open
presents tomorrow and Christmas Day will be quiet. A new
tradition? Maybe!
Have a very Merry Christmas, whenever you celebrate. I will
be here in an abbreviated manner but I will make sure to check
in from time to time. Thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

All the bustle of the season

Thursday, December 22, 2011

I finally finished the headache of a quote yesterday and I uploaded
it today. I have a few things to add to the system but Monday is soon
for pictures and the like. The main office is closed anyway.
I started 2 other large projects but there is time enough to finish
those after Christmas.
I did my cardio and ST early as tonight was my night to clean and
get the house in shape for company on Saturday. I have a lot more
to do but I did want to bake cookies tonight. Tomorrow I will have
the GC here and hot things around little ones can be scary.
I now have 12 dozen cookies for the guests to nibble on. I had
4 tubs of frozen cookie dough from the Girl Scouts that needed
to be used. So I did save time in that respect.
DH made 2 batches of biscotti tonight. One to keep and one to
give away. We took turns with the oven and everything turned
out fine. This was our first night home this week and we tried
to make the most of it.
I will wrap the gifts tomorrow after the GC go home . They will
be here most of the day but we will have fun. That's what
grandmas do!
Have a wonderful evening and thanks for stopping by.
Make time and take time to enjoy this special time of year!
HUGS!

It does sound like you have a great life and you will have a wonderful day tomorrow. I get muddled with your time... Saturday is the next day.

I am Friday night now and you are asleep as your Friday has only just started.

I must remember that my Christmas Day will be over before yours starts. emoticon

Just one of those days

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

I love my job, really, but there are days when it is hard to like it.
Today was one of those days. I went to work early so I could have
a quote all ready for DH. I spent 1 1/2 hours getting it as correct
as I could. He has his interview, comes back and now it is time
to upload the application. Sailing along nicely until I reach the
final screen. Red flag! Drat. Go back and correct something.
Red flag! What??????After the 12th try (yes, I did count), I
thought I had cleared all the hurdles. Now all the other error
messages are gone and there is a new one. Hmmmm! After
the 13th try with the error message still there, I called it a
day. It was 5 PM.
So, in order to retain my normal slightly insane composure,
I can home to light the wood furnace before supper. I spent
10 mintues chopping wood to get a true sense of peace back.
Much better. Combine sitting most of the day and fussing
with a funky program, I guess I just needed some good
cardio to get me in the right mood. Off to church and the
inspiring message from the pulpit put me in the best frame
of mind.
Despite the hassle, I stayed on track and am satisfied that
this was just one of those days that come along to try the
patience.
Should you ever have "one of those days", just focus on what
it takes to get you back in the mood. Just breathe and get
through it.
Note to self-so good of you to remember mindful eating. If
any day was a grab-a-snack day, today was it.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great Thursday. Only 3 more
days until Christmas. HUGS!

Sounds like a VERY trying day!!! Congrats to you for taking the steps you needed to balance it back out and restore peace and sanity! Congrats also for not turning to food for some momentary comfort -- that is not so easy to do on a day like that one! emoticon emoticon emoticon

GS and Daycare Concert

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

We attended the concert for the daycare center. The children
were all dressed up and sang their hearts out. After the program,
we were treated to cookies, juice and coffee. I picked up what I
thought was a bonbon and discovered......a chocolate covered
cherry. I thought twice about spitting it out with all those little
eyes watching me LOL!
I am planning to set up the new computer tomorrow if I find my
click drive. I know it is here somewhere but I have seemed to
have misplaced it.
Well, as long as I have my mind, I guess I'll be okay.
I have to close off to make DS some waffles. He had late night
practice and he is hungry. Was that a growl?
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening. HUGS!

Guilty confession-I ate a whole box of chocolate covered cherries in on sitting! Even worse, I bought them myself, telling me that I would eat one a day! Lesson learned! Hugs!

Elementary School Concert

Monday, December 19, 2011

We watched our GD in her concert and it was just great. She
sang every song and knew all the words. The whole group
sounded so good. The B Band played and they sounded great
for their ages. The promise of many excellent concerts to come.
There was a basket raffle after the concert. Area businesses
put together baskets and people bought tickets to deposit in
the buckets for the basket they wanted to win. The owner
of the feed store and I put together a basket worth over $50
and they pulled my ticket out. I told them to draw another
ticket. That was my only winning number but that is how it
goes. The money is being raised to send our band to play
in Washington, DC in June. DS will be a part of that group
and it will be the last chance for him to participate in high
school band. Everyone is getting excited to reach their
goal to pay for the trip. Right now, it sounds like they are
very close to meeting their goal.
Are you getting close to meeting a goal? It can be any
goal you choose. What will your reward be? If it is a trip
to Washington, DC, you might see our band LOL!.
May your reward special! Aim high and reach your
goal. It is all up to you!
HUGS and thanks for stopping by!
