Busted!

I blogged that it was a quiet day Sunday and got called on the
carpet by my dear SParker, DAISY443. Yes, I did do laundry,
kept the wood furnace burning, picked up twigs in DS2's yard
(guess where they will end up?)and other goofy stuff.
So tonight is marathon night. I set up the new receiver for
the TV in the living room (quite an adventure). This was
mid-point in the baking bread process. The first half of the
dough was rising in the pans and the second half was in
need of getting punched down. Once I was off the phone
with the very nice lady tech, I hustled out to make sure that
I got to it in time.
DH made a batch of biscotti and gets it done to the point
of cutting and toasting. Then I need to step in because he is
just scary with a knife in his hand. Left-handed as the day is
long LOL!
First 3 loaves are in the oven and the last 3 are just about
ready now. I did get a bit off schedule playing with the tv
but at least now it works. Even DS is smiling. Now we can
change the channels without waiting 5 minutes after
pushing the buttons.
I wanted to make bon bons tonight but ran out of time.
GD's Christmas concert may need to be postponed if the
freezing rain and snow develop like the weathermen think.
Who pays them to think? They should know, right?
Now for the fun part. This falls in the department of
"knowing". We "know" what we should be doing. We
"know" we have to make healthy choices to succeed.
But there is a time when we wait for our receiver to
change the channels for us. We think we've pushed
the right buttons but....we sabotage our efforts and
snack the night away. Take it from someone who was
there 2 nights ago. I had a dickens of a time to change
the channel and convince myself that chocolate could
stay right where it was.

A very quiet Sunday

As Sundays go, this was one of the quietest, up to now. Maybe
it was in preparation for the coming 2 weeks before Christmas.
I know the schedule is full, with some event or another on
almost every evening to come before Christmas break. I
was happy to just kick back and relax.
We will be baking bread and biscotti tomorrow night. We
plan to attend GD's Christmas concert on Tuesday if the
weather cooperates. There is a possibility of freezing rain.
DH and I serve Advent lunch after church on Wednesday night.
Thursday night the boys have a basketball game here.
Friday is free for now, as far as I know.
Saturday is Customer Appreciation Day, where the business
community serves ham sandwiches, baked beans and
potato chips. Santa Claus is here to talk to all the little ones
and find out what they want for Christmas. That will be a
busy day.
So I guess having a quiet day was just what I needed.

First and "last"

First basketball game of the year and the "last" parents night.
It is a big double header, which means there will be 2 girls games
and 2 boys games today. They will introduce the parents between
the high school girls and boys games, just about 7 pm.
We babysat for GS this morning and he helped Papa pick the
eggs just after lunch. Then he announced he was taking a
nap. Okay! Boy, was mom surprised.
DH baked a batch of cookies and I have a roast in for supper.
MIL is coming to watch all the games so I need to organize the
potatoes and veggie before we leave. Timing will be a bit
interesting but doable.
Keep life interesting and your goals doable. Have a great Sunday

Another "last" of the high school events

This will be DS's "last" Christmas concert and the last for my
children. Now I have the GC's events to anticipate. One concert
will be December 13th and the next will be on December 19th.
What begins must end and what is coming must begin. I look
forward to these two concerts as the GC give me endless joy.
At their tender ages, the happy glow and excitement is so easy
to see. Time to spoil the next generation with kisses and hugs
and exclaim over their accomplishments.
In less than 2 weeks, DS will finish his "last" fall semester as
a senior and move ahead. His grades are much improved from
the first nine weeks. I think the subject content is easier or he
has enough of the basic material down pat and using that to
qualify for the A Honor Roll. Woohoo!
Speaking of "lasts", it is the last month of the year and the
new year will begin soon. Have you accomplished what you
wanted to this year? Make your goals "first" on your to-do
list and save something else for "last". Like that second
piece of chocolate cake with frosting. Humm, strike that!
Make sure the second piece stays on the plate.

What a crack-up!

I just returned from an ambulance run with a 93 year old man
who had broken his hip. It would be hard to prove it because
he had me laughing all the way to the hospital. He may have
been in pain but the conversation was delightful. He had such
a dry sense of humor. It was almost hard to leave him but
he figured the nurses needed him more.
I would say that he was my blessing for the day. Thanks for
