The last stumbling block of my week

Friday, October 21, 2011

I had a 10 page survey to complete for the ambulance service
and it was a stinker. I had to fill in 8 pages of questions with
very intricate information and then attach two pages of maps
with our service area. Anyone who lives in an area with a river
meandering through it, gravel roads and highways that start,
stop, and start agan with bypasses, country lanes and detours
will know how much fun it is to complete. So I consulted maps
and marked areas that I knew we had covered in the past 19
1/2 years that I have been with the service. What a nightmare!
I wrote it off as a Halloween joke LOL! I did turn in my hours
and told the finance officer if someone else wanted to do
this in the future, they could be my guest. Will I have any
takers?
So that completes the last stumbling block of my week. I was
trying to work on it when it was quiet but there are always
interruptions.
Other than that, I have had a fairly easy week staying on
track. If I get through the weekend, I see a clear path ahead.
Tonight we will have the two GC here as Dad is gone for
guard weekend and mom has a volleyball match. We may
spend some time digging potatoes and carrots if DH has
his way. They just love that!
We have Oktoberfest tomorrow night. It is a night for the
ethnic Germans in the area to consume food like our mothers
and grandmothers made and some of us young (?) people
still cook at home. There will be many temptations on the
dessert table. They also serve beer and I think this year,
there will be a wine tasting area. After the meal, a polka band
will play and there will be dancing for those fearless enough
to venture out. Guess where I will be? Dancing without my
shoes LOL!
Have you encountered stumbling blocks this week? Well,
push, shove and move them out of your way by following
your SPark plan. You have the tools and the knowledge so
go for it.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wrapping up another day

Thursday, October 20, 2011

As cold as it was this morning, the day turned out warm and
pleasant. But before breakfast, I wanted to stay home in my
cozy kitchen and sip hot tea all day. Instead, I rummaged in
the upstairs closet for a sweater and headed out. It was my
morning to get GS and take him to preschool. We do this twice
a week. I pick him up, take him to the cafe while I have coffee,
then drive him to the daycare center. The other grandma comes
to pick him up and babysit him until dad gets home. It gives us
time to talk and play together during the week.
He has been such a joy and minds most of the time. I seldom
buy him a treat unless he asks. He has only ask one time. If
I ask him if he wants a treat, he shakes his head and goes
back to playing.
The day was pretty uneventful but we had a spaghetti supper
benefit for the daycare tonight. Last year, it was awesome. This
year we arrived very late. There was plenty of food left but the
spaghetti was overcooked. That took the fun out of the meal.
I had planned for this all day and decided one serving would
suffice. So now I can have an evening snack and still stay in
my range. That will wrap up my day.
How have you wrapped up your day? Did you meet your goals,
stay in range, drink your water and get enough sleep?
Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. HUGS and thanks
for stopping by.

Back to it

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

My "save for tomorrow" project was still waiting for me. I sorted
the tomatoes and managed to find enough to make about 3 quarts
of juice. So now, I will wait for them to ripen. An even trade LOL!
My two involved policy changes are done and submitted. What a
relief! Now on to other things.
A friend came by to help move firewood into the basement with DS1.
Once it was thrown into the wood room, he stacked it so nicely.
We will move in more later but this was from the tree that was
blown down by the tornado 2 1/2 years ago. It was very dry and
should burn well.
I invited him for a supper of ham, baked potatoes, squash,
watermelon and squash bread for dessert. Everyone had very
healthy appetites after their hard work so leftovers are minimal.
I am working on laundry now so I am back at the things I took
a break from yesterday. What should I save for tomorrow?
That little chocolate bar LOL!
Have a wonderful evening and thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

Save something for tomorrow!

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

This was a bit of advice that I heard my mother say more than
once. If she thought I had pushed myself too hard for her taste,
she's say "Save something for tomorrow". I am sure she would
be shaking her head at me more than once since I have been
known to take on the world, just because I could.
So today I tried to back off from a couple of involved tasks
that can easily be done tomorrow. I decided to fold laundry
instead of cooking up the 5 gallon pail of tomatoes. As cool
as it is, they can sit outside one more day.
But I also applied this to nutrition. I could have eaten more
for supper since I had extra leeway with my choices. So I
decided to "save something for tomorrow". That miniature
chocolate bar will still be there, unless DH gets to it first LOL!
As for DH, that man slept in so late today that I had to walk
home to check on him. He let the phone and cell phone ring
until they went to answering machine and VM. When I came
in the door, he was astounded that he missed hearing DS
and I leave. Were we that quiet? Ha!
So are you saving something for tomorrow? Think about
it and see what you can come up with for ideas.
Thanks for stopping by-hugs!

Working a New Program

Monday, October 17, 2011

Relax! I am still on SP and am keeping it that way. I am working
on a new accounting program for business expenses. It is called
Peachtree and I have to learn the ropes. The bookkeeper in the
feed store has given me some tips on using the check register
portion of the program. So far, it is working quite well. I want
to get as much as possible done before tax time. Hmmm. That
is only 6 months away.
Today was a typical, hurried Monday. I secured answers for
most of the problems that developed and I think I covered all
the bases for the more complicated issues.
DS is finished mowing at the bank and supper is well on it's
way in the oven. Baked squash, scalloped sweet corn, baked
potatoes and a fresh lettuce salad. The boys all love German
sausage so that will be the highlight of the meal.
Now, the pep talk begins. Are you working the program? Are
you learning the ropes of nutrition and activity? By now, those
of us who have been here longer may have it all down pat,
but life happens. Sometimes knowledge is forgotten or over-
looked in a busy lifestyle. If that is the case, grab the Spark
book, if you have it, and review the problem areas. I keep
my copy close at hand and re-read the chapters to brush up
on the fine details.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening. HUGS!
