DH and DS are in the garden, checking for any and all veggies to exhibit.
I do hope they can find some good ones. Since it stopped raining, I have
noticed the quality and quantity of veggies has declined. I promised that
once they have taken what they need for exhibits, I will go out tonight
and harvest the rest. I KNOW that there are plenty of cucumbers and
beans but I wanted them to have first pick. The broccoli is small
and the squash and cantaloupe need another 2 weeks before we can
think about picking. Even then, that might be a stretch. The zucchini have
faltered but I am sure they will find eggplant and peppers galore. As soon
as the tomatoes ripen, I will be canning spaghetti sauce and juice. I
am committed to restocking the shelves in the basement for winter.
Have you made a firm commitment to your healthier lifestyle? Are
you making healthy choices and working to do your cardio and strength
training on a regular basis?
Think positive, act positive and be positive! HUGS and thanks for stopping
by! Have a wonderful Wednesday!
I know what you are thinking but it is that time of year when we
get ready for 4-H Achievement Days. Time to wash and clip the
goats, put leg bands on the show chickens and then wash them.
Yeah, you read it right. We wash the show birds and hope they
stay clean until the fair.
Lunch was super late today as we were in the office until 2:15.
I was back before 3 and finished the day. Then we packed up all
the supplies needed for the animals. We finished just after 9:15,
then went out for supper. Sadly, we will have to check out the
horticulture exhibits tomorrow. We should have a few exhibits
but they will be limited due to the lack of rain. Such is life.
DS has been asked to do a radio interview for 4-H and he has
to go down to the extension office early. They asked 3 members
to be interviewed so it is quite an honor to be asked. He thinks
Are you dealing with "crunch time"? Trying to get it all done?
Make the most of your day and do the best you can. That is all
you can ask of yourself.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to catch up with you tomorrow.
This being the typical first Monday-(first day of the week
AND of the month it seemed I needed more time to get
everything done and more things to do than I expected.
So being able to concentrate was high priority.
I am glad I ate a solid breakfast to carry me through until lunch.
DH is off to judge rabbits and chickens for 4-H in a town about 45
minutes away. It is pretty hot and he will be miserable unless they
have a fan running for him. I have EMT class tonight so the 2 boys
are on their own for supper. Plus, they go trap shooting tonight at
goodness knows what time. Our poor cat will be home all alone LOL!
Let August be your month of concentration. Focus on your goals
for a successful month. Thanks for stopping by!
Today I turned 57 and I am thinking it is the new 40! However, if I was 40-
I would have 5 children in the house, from ages 17 to 4 months. I would
be trying to loose the extra weight from my last pregnancy. I would be
just as busy as I am now, only taking care of a much larger household.
I would be doing at least 20 loads of clothes a week, including cloth
diapers. I would be cooking much larger meals with fewer leftovers.
But since I am 57, I am healthier now, cooking less in volume but still
cooking healthy. My garden is the same size as it was 17 years ago
and I am canning almost as much as I did then. I have grandchildren now
and 2 son-in-laws that have added so much dimension to the family.
I have more birthdays and anniversaries to remember and with SP,
I am finding new friends that feel more like family every day. I call
this a winning situation.
Thanks for all the birthday greetings and goodies. I will try to return a
message to each of you. Your kindness will be rewarded many times
Another hot and humid day and we are heating up the house. We are baking
bread and kuchen (German fruit pie) and I am making BBQ spare ribs for
5 loads of laundry washed and dried on the clothesline. I have it all in
and will be making the beds as soon as the ribs go into the oven.
Later we will do chores and then pick cucumbers and green beans.
I noticed quite a few ripe tomatoes this morning so I am sure some
time will be devoted to picking them as well.
I pulled up the last of the carpet and padding in DS's room, swept
and mopped the floor and it looks just fine. So glad that little adventure
is over. And my, I was still surprised at all the tiny pieces of glass I found.
At least it was in an area away from foot traffic.
Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks for stopping by. August is
just a day away so start planning for another month of success with
