What a Monday!

Monday, July 18, 2011

The day went so quickly and I had so much I wanted and needed to do.
I even took a shorter lunch break so I could finish a really big project
with a deadline-today! It would have helped if they had called sooner
but I got it done.
A 5 pm meeting, followed by a 6 pm EMT class, followed by an hour in
the garden, then chores, then finally my supper salad.
I am trying to get caught up with tracking so it I miss a few posts and
a few blogs, I will get back in touch with all my lovely SParkers as
time permits. HUGS and thanks for stopping by!

It's funny how some of us have life happen and interrupts our SParking, but you, my friend have it down to an art. You have life AND SParking!!! Very rarely do I notice you apologizing for missing posts or blogs b/c by and large, you do it ALL!!! I wish I had an ounce of the endless energy and organization you have!!!! You just keep doing what you do! Your blogs make me tired, but obviously, all that activitiy works for you and I wouldn't change a thing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sunday recap

Sunday, July 17, 2011

We followed the normal routine of church, but skipped coffer hour so
we get ready to go to MIL's for lunch. She made the beef roast but
we brought new potatoes, beets, kohlrabi, green beans, broccoli
and cucumbers from the garden. I made the rest of the meal, and
even brought along a cheesecake for dessert. We pulled weeds while
GD watered the roses. 97 degrees with a heat index of 116! We
did what we could before the heat sent us all inside. We stayed
until 3:30. GD fell asleep on the way home. We waited until almost
7:00 to do farm chores. Supper was made on the grill to help the
AC keep the house cool-steak and potatoes.
Last, DH and DS2 brought the camper home from DD's house. Time
to call it a day.
Start your week off right by keeping a positive attitude-hugs! Thanks
for stopping by!

Oh my...do I KNOW heat...it's like that every day here in FL and the gallery has no a/c in the back section. We camp out up front in the showroom where it's pleasantly air conditioned. Take care of yourself dear one, heat can take you down FAST! emoticon

Whew! I don't envy you those temps!! We got up as high as 81 yesterday after 3 glorious days in the high 60's/low 70's! It's supposed to get back up into the 90's by week's end, (darn it). Oh well, it is July, after all, but I truly don't need any more high 90's of triple digits and I pray it avoids us! Hope your temps come down to more easily bareable! emoticon
Those vegies you grow sound absolutely yuumy! That's a meal I'd have loved to been present to share!
Be well, my friend!

The heat has arrived

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Hot and steamy this afternoon but that is the way it will be for the next
5 days. We got up early to butcher 7 old roosters that were terrorizing
the whole flock. Then uptown for coffee and breakfast so I would have
enough energy to do the laundry and mop floors before working at the
customer appreciation day at the store. 2 hours later, I went home to
help DH get organized to bake bread, swapped dry laundry on the line
with the freshly washed loads. It would take time for the bread to be
ready for baking, so out to do chores and get back in out of the heat.
The second set of loaves is in the oven and as soon as they are out,
I will go out to see DD's in-laws. They invited us out for supper but I
wanted to get the bread done first.
I cut up two of the roosters for MIL to make into soup. The other 5
will be given to next door neighbor for their church's soup kitchen
in December. All in all, a very good day!
I hope you all have the energy to accomplish what you wanted or needed
to do today. Have a great weekend! HUGS and thanks for stopping by!

My goodness, Marsha, you are such a go-getter, it's unbelievable.
I am amazed at how much you got accomplished and all before the dreaded heat & humidity set in.

Whew! I am exhausted & my day is just beginning! No, NOT from MY doing MY work, but just from reading all YOU did. LOL!!

Moving into the weekend

Friday, July 15, 2011

The morning started out cool and cloudy but now it is very humid and the
skies are almost clear of clouds. Our whole state is included in an
area of "excessive heat warning" so everyone is asked to take
precautions against heat exhaustion or heat stroke. We will be timing
when we spend long hours outside. Weeding in the garden can wait
until after 7:30 and the same goes for walking. Now to convince DH that
he can walk AFTER supper instead of before. I have suggested walking
earlier in the day but he thinks it benefits him more if he does it at
night. He says he sleeps better. He may have a point but it sure is a lot
cooler in the morning.
We are still finalizing plans for the weekend but I am ready for
anything.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend! HUGS!

I saw the weather reports this morning & it certainly doe NOT look favorable for your area. Stay safe& cool, dear friend.

BTW, you are so right, it is much safer because of the cooler temps to walk in the early morning hours.
Good luck trying to convince your DH.

Turning hot and humid

Thursday, July 14, 2011

I am so glad we finished some home projects last night because
the weather is turning hot and humid. I still have to consider picking
the green beans but it still is too wet and muddy to think about it.
Tonight I want to pick peas and check the tomatoes and broccoli.
I found a sea of blossoms in the cucumbers so I know that sooner
or later, we will be picking them by the 5 gallon pail. Fresh veggies
are the best.
DS is out mowing his lawns today. He wants to finish before the
weekend when his girlfriend comes. DH is still planning to butcher
some old roosters Saturday. There is a customer appreciation day
at the grocery store. The board of directors (I am one) have been
asked to help serve and that is doable. Then Sunday, the 24th, we are
helping take the mid-year inventory. That should be interesting. It's
been a long time since I did that (31 years).
It seems that summer brings out a whole new set of obligations that
need to be met. I am up to the challenge.
Are you up to the challenge of living a heathier lifestyle with SP?
Make a commitment each day to do the best you can because
you are worth it.
Now I am off to read my email (last count, 142 messages). I may be
here for a while.
Thanks for stopping by! Let's go, team! HUGS! emoticon
