Ask the right question-

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

get the right answer and find out you have at least 2 days of work
ahead of you. I have a whole new batch of service work to do-
about 100 policies that need to have changes done. I have barely
scratched the surface but I do have a list to consult so I can make
sure to do right by everyone.
GD's birthday party tonight and I did enjoy the fresh sub sandwiches,
the veggie trimmings, coleslaw, huge bowl of fresh fruit and the
ice cream cake. It was one fun party but now it is off to bed.
Catch up with you tomorrow! HIGS!

Frying eggs on the sidewalk

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

I am tempted but I think I'll save my eggs for potato salad LOL! The
temperature is 102 and the heat index is 112. Now I know the eggs
would eventually fry but humans get overheated a lot more quickly
than that. Everyone is looking a little wilted. My garden is showing
signs of the last 5 very hot days and nights where the
temperature barely falls into the 70's. I remember the days on the
farm with only a fan to cool the house. We slept on the linoleum floor
in the sitting room since our room was in the center of the house. It
was either sleep there or on the spring swing outside. The swing was
a bedspring hung from two trees, much as a hammock but could
easily fit 3 to 5 children, depending on size. Who worried about bugs
when you could sleep under the stars and catch what little breeze
was blowing? As an adult, I think my body would take offense to the
hard, unforgiving metal but the memory is a fun one. I wonder if my
siblings remember it in the same way.
After a very full day with meetings and checking out the garden, I think
tonight will be a stay inside kind of evening. We picked whatever was
ready in the veggie department and I am sure we could pull weeds but
I am voting to wait until at least Thursday before venturing out to the
garden again. Now we could use a little rain. We have been watering
the flowerbeds every other night to keep them going. For now, the flowers
look to be surving the heat pretty well.
How are you surviving this heat wave? Take whatever precautions to
stay hydrated. If you walk for exercise, wait until the heat of the day is
past or plan to find a fitness center where you can be inside.
Take care and thanks for stopping by. HUGS!

AZ is definitely hot emoticon, and while I'm in a fairly high elevation, it cools down to about 65 at night. But I find that even when it's 75F for my walk, sweat is dripping down my neck by the time I get home, and my dog's tongue is dragging!

So why are we always so anxious for summer to get here?

By the way I love the purple flowers peeking around your blog!

I don't like the idea of being "trapped" inside, but I also do like the idea of being safe from heat stroke. Off to do yoga.

What a Monday!

Monday, July 18, 2011

The day went so quickly and I had so much I wanted and needed to do.
I even took a shorter lunch break so I could finish a really big project
with a deadline-today! It would have helped if they had called sooner
but I got it done.
A 5 pm meeting, followed by a 6 pm EMT class, followed by an hour in
the garden, then chores, then finally my supper salad.
I am trying to get caught up with tracking so it I miss a few posts and
a few blogs, I will get back in touch with all my lovely SParkers as
time permits. HUGS and thanks for stopping by!

You just keep doing what you do! Your blogs make me tired, but obviously, all that activitiy works for you and I wouldn't change a thing! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sunday recap

Sunday, July 17, 2011

We followed the normal routine of church, but skipped coffer hour so
we get ready to go to MIL's for lunch. She made the beef roast but
we brought new potatoes, beets, kohlrabi, green beans, broccoli
and cucumbers from the garden. I made the rest of the meal, and
even brought along a cheesecake for dessert. We pulled weeds while
GD watered the roses. 97 degrees with a heat index of 116! We
did what we could before the heat sent us all inside. We stayed
until 3:30. GD fell asleep on the way home. We waited until almost
7:00 to do farm chores. Supper was made on the grill to help the
AC keep the house cool-steak and potatoes.
Last, DH and DS2 brought the camper home from DD's house. Time
to call it a day.
Start your week off right by keeping a positive attitude-hugs! Thanks
for stopping by!

Oh my...do I KNOW heat...it's like that every day here in FL and the gallery has no a/c in the back section. We camp out up front in the showroom where it's pleasantly air conditioned. Take care of yourself dear one, heat can take you down FAST! emoticon

Whew! I don't envy you those temps!! We got up as high as 81 yesterday after 3 glorious days in the high 60's/low 70's! It's supposed to get back up into the 90's by week's end, (darn it). Oh well, it is July, after all, but I truly don't need any more high 90's of triple digits and I pray it avoids us! Hope your temps come down to more easily bareable! emoticon
Those vegies you grow sound absolutely yuumy! That's a meal I'd have loved to been present to share!
Be well, my friend!

The heat has arrived

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Hot and steamy this afternoon but that is the way it will be for the next
5 days. We got up early to butcher 7 old roosters that were terrorizing
the whole flock. Then uptown for coffee and breakfast so I would have
enough energy to do the laundry and mop floors before working at the
customer appreciation day at the store. 2 hours later, I went home to
help DH get organized to bake bread, swapped dry laundry on the line
with the freshly washed loads. It would take time for the bread to be
ready for baking, so out to do chores and get back in out of the heat.
The second set of loaves is in the oven and as soon as they are out,
I will go out to see DD's in-laws. They invited us out for supper but I
wanted to get the bread done first.
I cut up two of the roosters for MIL to make into soup. The other 5
will be given to next door neighbor for their church's soup kitchen
in December. All in all, a very good day!
I hope you all have the energy to accomplish what you wanted or needed
to do today. Have a great weekend! HUGS and thanks for stopping by!

My goodness, Marsha, you are such a go-getter, it's unbelievable.
I am amazed at how much you got accomplished and all before the dreaded heat & humidity set in.

Whew! I am exhausted & my day is just beginning! No, NOT from MY doing MY work, but just from reading all YOU did. LOL!!
