Good Friday

Friday, April 22, 2011

After a solemn church service, we came home to prepare for the annual Easter egg
dyeing extravaganza. GD is here to help and she has 10 dozen eggs waiting for her.
She is so excited!
We had our traditional lunch of stewed prunes and noodles. Supper will probably be
french toast or another meatless meal. It is only for 1 day so we can live with it.
This is a family tradition that my family always observed. Other families, I am sure,
have their own unique traditions.
DH and GD went to the store to get white vinegar for the dye so I better be ready
when they get home.
Have a wonderful Friday! HUGS and thanks for reading and commenting!

Wow, 10 dozen eggs to dye! That's a lot. I think the little ones dye eggs at school here, but it's not a home Easter pastime.

Stewed prunes and noodles sounds very strange. Regardless, I hope you enjoyed your meals and your day.

Happy Easter!

Back to clouds and rain

Thursday, April 21, 2011

The peeks of sunshine faded fast. At least it was nice when I took my walk last night.
Tonight we have church services at 6:30 so walking will have to wait for later.
Since we are hosing Easter lunch at the church, we have enough space for those
who are planning to come. I am just hoping the weather cooperates so all can
travel in safety. I would love to have a 60 degree day. That is our normal daily
high for this time of year. We are struggling to reach 50. That would be perfect
to let the little ones run outside and play. Ah, yes, we still have mud. May have to
rethink sending them outside.
Have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Easter. Time on SP may be limited,
but then again, one never knows? HUGS and thanks for reading and commenting.

Little peeks of sun

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

It has been nice seeing the sun occasionally today. It lifts the spirits and
brightens the mood. We need a break from the rain, short-lived though it
may be.
I planted more tomato seeds last night. The first trays came up poorly and
I wanted to be sure that I have a few plants ready as soon as the garden
dries out and it is warm enough to move them outside. That is probably
a good month away but one can always hope.
I am finalizing plans for Easter. The list of attendees is still pretty liquid. So
much depends on the weather. Best case scenario is 40-45 and the worst
would be under 30. It makes it interesting to plan the menu and coordinate
how much to prepare. Everyone is bringing something so I just need to keep
them in the loop as far as numbers go.
Are you in the loop? Are you staying on top of the game? Good luck!
Thanks for reading and commenting and have a great Thursday! HUGS!

Day has slipped away

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

and here it is early evening. It was a pretty usual day but the weatherman gave us a
break and the rain/snow moved out of the area sooner than predicted. It was still cool
and cloudy but tolerable. DH kep busy with clients today and it was a productive day.
My biggest challenge required having a serious talk with the nanny. I told her I would
appreciate a little cooperation. It was hard earned as I felt like I was wrestling with
her. When we were done, I realized my coat was in need of a washing. I will be glad
when the mud dries up. I was pretty decorated. The standing water just adds to the
mess. Maybe by this time next week, we will have sunny and warmer days again.
I am watching the Biggest Loser (or should I say listening). I am trying to fold laundry
and keep the washer occupied, I might get done yet.
Have a wonderful Wednesday. Thanks for reading and commenting. HUGS!

You make me tired just reading your blogs. You are always too busy. I don't think I could lead such a busy life, but you seem to handle it OK.

Have a great day.

Weekend activities

Monday, April 18, 2011

Saturday we took a road trip to MIL's house to meet our niece's fiancee. We had lunch
together, visited and caught up on family and friends, then pruned MIL's trees in the
backyard.
When we came home, we went to our orchard and trimmed two apples trees that
needed attention. Farm chores were interesting with the fresh snow.
Yesterday, the snow was pretty much melted. After cleaning in the basement, I baked
the bread so we could send some home with MIL. She came over to hear DH and DS
sing in the cantata. It was a very beautiful concert. Lunch was served afterwards for
the choir members and their families.
This morning, I carried all the boxes out of the basement. I had just finished when
DH said "I was going to do that." Well, too late now. I think he waited on purpose LOL!
The next 5 days hold the promise of more rain/snow and wet conditions. Got to love
spring-unpredictable and usually wet.
Have a great and glorious Monday as we walk through the days leading up to Easter!
Thanks for reading and commenting. HUGS!
