The pursuit of happiness

Thursday, December 23, 2010

This time of year, we seem to focus on the things that will make us feel good and be happy.
From the perfect meal to the perfect present, we lose sight of the true reason for the
season.
With this in mind, I am trying to focus my thoughts on all the blessings I have received:
A family that I love and who loves me (for what I am)
Food on the table
A warm house
A bed to sleep in
All the luxuries that I possess that others can only dream of
I will be more thoughtful of others, more tolerant of my failures and do what I need to
do to live and be healthy in body and mind. Will I be happy? Can I be perfect?
I am a work in progress. Time will tell.
Have a blessed Chrsitmas and thanks for reading and commenting. HUGS!

I cannot add much to what you have said. My DH and I were saying only this morning that we have so much. things we never even dreamed of are part of our everyday life (think about the silly things we are addicted to - like the thermometer in the car telling us what the temp is outside, like water and ice through the door of the fridge - not to even mention the luxury of having a car and a refridgerator! We are truly blessed beyond 90% of the people in this world, and it sometimes takes a kick in the behind to remember that.

Blessings

Another day closer

Wednesday, December 22, 2010

to Christmas and I am slowly getting organized for all the festivities. Even sounds like we'll
be getting 1-3 inches of snow. A little more than the dusting I prefer so maybe we'll have a
white Christmas after all. I am content with what we have now but Mother Nature may have
other plans.
Do you have your plans in place? Make a list, check it twice so you have what you need
to make good and healthy choices. You can do it!
Thanks for reading and commenting! Hugs to all!

Thank you for the present of your friendship. It is a beautiful gift and I will treasure it all thru the coming year.
May you have a blessed Christmas with your family. Yes I will try to make good choices. As many say, so hard at this time of the year but we all try to make wise decisions!

I hope you enjoy your snow - and that it doesn't affect any Christmas plans! Thanks for today's inspiration - and yes, I am working hard to get through the temptations of the month, and perhaps even end the month a pound or two lighter than I began it.

Hugs to you and yours
Patti

Life needs to slow down

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

or maybe I should. The health insurance industry knows how to plan things. All changes need
to be done by year's end so everyone is searching for ways to trim expenses and still afford
coverage they need. So many questions and sometimes, so few answers.
Yesterday was another of those busy days when I felt like I was 5 steps behind. I did get
caught up by 5 pm but I felt like I was spinning my wheels a lot. We had a cardiac emergency in the middle of the afternoon. The man was very lucky someone was there to see him go
down. We were able to get him good medical care and he was transported to the Heart
Hospital for treatment. For now, his condition is stable and I am waiting to hear from his
daughter that the issue has been resolved.
DDs and I are planning our Christmas menu and I think we have a good nutritious plan for
Christmas dinner. It helps to be preared and offer fewer choices but also healthy ones.
Less chance of overdoing it on the biggest day of the year, right?
Well, it's back to work so I can be ready for the next customer. I wish for you a wonderful
Wednesday and a blessed Christmas day. HUGS and thanks for reading and commenting.

It sounds like you need to take a couple of days and relax. I have done that this week. Our batteries need a recharge every so often! Enjoy the season good buddy.
Merry Christmas.

Taking time to smell the roses is a good motto............deep breathes of sweet fragrance send smiles to ones face. May you get a dozen roses to smell during this busy time and slow down when you can........ emoticon emoticonX12.

Sunday update

Monday, December 20, 2010

Church and Sunday School proactive-although DD did most of the practicing with the other teacher. DH is still down with the flu and seemed to get better during the day but went downhill from there.
I ran around doing errands and chores and tried to be ready for The Christmas program.
The neighbor was very insistent about me coming over to trim the hooves of his goats-
yesterday, of all days. The kids were all coming for an early supper and I was out in the
barn for 45 minutes. I could say I was a little unhappy but that would be putting it mildly.
But the work got done, supper went off without a hitch, made it to church on time to set
up lunch and start the hot apple cider.
The program went very well. Even GS was pretty well behaved. The lunch went well
although only a few people stayed. We had enough goodies for so many more. The
extras were put into the refrigerator for Wednesday night's service.
The rest of the evening was passed watching the Survivor Finale. It was so great to see
SD's Holly come in fourth. We were pleased she made it that close to the end.
Today is another day of scrambling to stay ahead. I feel like I am in slow motion but
that may change when I get closer to caught up.
Put your motion in high gear today. The holidays are fast approaching and the opportunity
to push things off is very inviting. Be one of the 5% who have gotten it right and kept it there.
You can do it! emoticon
Hugs to all who stopped by, read and left a comment. You are an awesome group of friends.
Thank you!

You are one of the busiest ladies I know. Sounds like it all went very well.

DH and I watched Survivor too. We recorded it and watched with our coffee this morning. I wanted Fabio or Holly to get it. I started out liking Chase but later he wasn't nice.
