Things not to share

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

but these may be out of your control:
A snowstorm (have to wait a few months)
Trojans and viruses on the computer.
So for those of you suffering with the first 2,
I apologize that I couldn't slow the systems
down and send them elsewhere.
Have a great Wednesday. HUGS!

Taking a break from the garden

Monday, July 21, 2014

With the heat and high humidity, we opted to take a break
from the garden. We even waited until much later to do the
chores. Even now the heat is oppressive. It will be a bit
cooler tomorrow and back to normal highs by the weekend.
DH will certainly be happy about that.
Tonight we each had a salad with boiled eggs and a few
blue cheese crumbles for dinner. That was all either of
us felt like eating. Not expecting this to make much of a
difference on the scale but a light dinner was just the
thing tonight.
Even the goats were content to just lay around today.
Milking time was tolerated but they were more than ready
to get out of the barn and back into the open air.
Our friends are still picking up as much milk as I
have to give them. Makes me wonder how much more
she has room for in her freezer or what else she is
doing with it. I am sure she will be talking with me
later this week.
Thanks for stopping by and Take it to the Top tomorrow.

My dogs have had very little appetite, including my Rottweilder twho weighs 160 lbs He could stand to go without much longer than a couple days.

Glad you made a healthy choice. You don't need to worry about the garden. The weeds won't grow in this weather. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sorry to hear the heat and humidity has gotten to you. We are used to it in Florida and right now we are certainly enjoying the cooler temps here in Michigan. It was 86 today but humidity was low so it felt great to us. Looks like it will be even cooler-into the 70's for the rest of the week so we will likely feel like we are freezing!!!

The heat is horrible, isn't it? I am pacing myself also outside. We are on the same page for Supper because I made a salad here also. Eating anything cooked had no appeal at all.
I DO have to get into the garden and pick my peas and beans or they will all go hard on me. :(
Have a good day Marsha.

It's been here in FL also. I mean SO hot yesterday that after the afternoon movie DH and I attended he couldn't even hold onto the steering wheel until the a/c kicked in and cooled the car down. The leather seats were BOILING. You have to lock everything up tight here in FL...otherwise you are liable to go out into the parking lot and find your car missing!

A whole lot different way of living than what we were used to in Iowa..I can tell you that...but it's probably the same way there now. emoticon

I wish we could look forward to a little cooler weather back there but August is always their hottest least we are used to it! emoticon

I'm glad you put chores off til a little later...I wonder where all of that milk is going also? You'll have to give us the low down! emoticon

"Till" we meet again

Sunday, July 20, 2014

DH and I spent a good portion of the morning
running both tillers and we are about 80% done
with the areas we weeded before. With the extreme
heat expected tomorrow , it was better to do as much
today while the low cloud cover was in place.
The sun came out mid afternoon and we were happy
to be back inside. We did go back to do the evening
chores and did a walk through. DH did water the squash
plants but the rest will just have to hang on until
it rains.
Now DH is working on his last test for his agent's
license renewal. He is kind of cranky because
it is taking so long. I think he would rather be
watching tv.
Thanks for stopping by and greet Monday
with a smile. emoticon

I HATE tests and I think I was just plain over confident and didn't study enough...booo on me for that blunder!

Celebrating a very special day

Saturday, July 19, 2014

in an not so special way. Pretty much like every other day
of the year. DH turned 65 today. After I wished him a "Happy
Birthday", he said, "Oh, I forgot". This from the guy who
was telling everyone for the last 18 days that he was officially
on Medicare. Not sure where his mind went today. DD and
family took us out to dinner tonight and we had a great time.
This morning I did most of the laundry and hung it outside
before working at the Customer Appreciation Day at the
grocery store. After DH and I ate, we came home to relax
a bit as he had been working in the garden. We stopped
for coffee midafternoon and went back to the garden. It
was fairly warm and humid so we limited the time a bit.
Chores all done and showers taken before dinner and it
sure felt good.
Laundry is folded or hung away, DH is watching TV and I
am Sparking. He did bake his favorite chocolate cake
and we will be eating some with ice cream shortly. You
can't have a birthday without cake and ice cream. I
have decided it will be one or the other-not both. Which
would you choose?
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Sunday. HUGS!

Back at it again

Friday, July 18, 2014

Ducked out of work an hour early and headed for the
garden. Another 40+ minutes with Mr Mantis and the
arms and back are doing fine. I did the milking (4 tonight)
and had just picked the eggs when DH got back from
a delivery. He needed to take two totes and 3 kuchen
down the road and meet up with Little Man's GF. She
had packed the clothes away in the office and wanted
to have the extra clothes as they are going to Minnesota
to visit her aunts. The kuchen (a German fruit and custard
delight) was for all of them to share for breakfast this
weekend. DS spoils her aunts and they do the same for
him. The thing is, the lady in the café baked them by
special request from DS and refused to charge for them.
She feels like she is in his debt because he always
comes to work on the weekends and won't take any
extra pay. I am so proud of him and she thinks he
is the best young man ever. I guess I could agree.
The appliance men delivered my new-to-me gas dryer.
It is the same age as my old one (15 years) but was used
by an older couple with no children. They did replace the
blower unit so it should last the 2 of us for a long time.
Settling down for the evening and so glad you took time
to stop by and comment. Have a great weekend. HUGS!

Of COURSE your son is one of the best around...he couldn't turn out any OTHER way with you as his mother. Which brings me to MY DH really the offspring of HIS mother...or did he get switched at birth.

The real reason may be that he was pretty much raised by his that could explain EVERYTHING....he is kind, and respectful of others and wise and wonderful....I wish I could have met his grandmother...but she passed before I cam into the picture...I just have a feeling we would have been good friends! emoticon

I got to gather a few eggs while my neighbor was out of town, but there were only 5 laying hens and they spaced out their laying time throughout the day so I'd get 1 then maybe 2 then maybe 1 or 2 ......took all day, plus they don't all lay every day. Don't know how many you have laying, but I'll bet you get more at a time! lol!

Machines now days just don't last as long any more and now it is just buy when they go bad and that only makes money for the company that makes those machines. It used to be that American products had pride and were built to last but now they are greedy and just want more money. They make the machines to only last a few years it seems.
