Awesome Day With My Spark Buddy

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Today I had my first Spark meet, it was with Diane ( DIFROMWYOMING). I've spoken with Di several times over the last couple years, exchanged texts but there was nothing better than meeting her in person today. I felt like we've know each other for years. She's a very beautiful lady inside and out. Let me not forget to mention she has a very sweet husband.

We toured Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, LA

Thanks Di for taking time out of your schedule to spend the day with me !!

How wonderful that you two got to meet! I met my best friend through Spark a few years ago - we posted back and forth and then realized we lived in neighboring small towns. Now, we talk almost every day and meet to walk together several times a week.
It's great when you can put a face and personality with the friends you make on Spark!

WE DID have a great time! It was my best day in LA. I'm going to try to put some photos up, too, as soon as I can get time to do so. Thanks for giving me such a wonderful gift that day- both the actual gift, the generous sightseeing, and the gift of YOU.

I am so happy you two got the chance to meet and have a day together. I love the photos! You two must have a psychic connection you are wearing similar colors.

Another Disappointment

Saturday, November 03, 2012

After being married 28 years I really should be used to disappointment but sometimes it's hard to suck up and put a smile on. Yesterday was my 28 anniversary, I started my husband day off great thinking, he took off but of course I had to work. Well to cut to the chase I didn't get as much as card. I wasn't looking for a gift but I would like a card expressing his love. Of course I have him a very nice one alone with a gift.

Now for dinner we went to outback I ate very responsible and have no regrets. Passed on dessert and did not feel deprived. Walked 2 miles last night because I was so upset with the hubby.

Baked chicken, sweet potato, no veggie because I don't eat anything other than green beans.

Picture of hubby and I was still happy, no one wants to see one by the end of the night.

Another late comment. I have time to catch up more on SP blogs now that my DH is away. I have never been to Outback. That sweet potato looks tasty! I love baked (not candied) sweet potatoes. Good for you taking a walk to cool off! And skipping desert! Woo Hoo!

We used to do more for our anniversaries and birthdays than we do now. The past few years we haven't bought anniversary cards. But we usually go out to dinner if not on the actual day then sometime that week. For birthdays it may be dinner out with the extended family and we give cards and sometimes gifts. Since we both have been on this lifestyle change we don't have BD cake, but our guests usually have cupcakes. It has been a few years since DH got me flowers for my birthday. He has always taken the day off work to spend with me if at all possible. I will give him credit for that!

    Hey Jo,

Sorry you were disappointed. I like the DUMP CAKE idea from Kate.

I'm cheering you on: DO IT, DO IT, DO IT. And then report back and let us know how it went.

(First, eat a bit of the corner of the cake, AND THEN dump it on his chest)

I'm a bad robot - like the one on tv.

I'm so sorry that hubby disappointed and hurt you. However I am so very happy that you walked to help with the anger! There are so many other ways you could have dealt with that and you did the right thing!

One time... at band camp... No wait... that's a different story. This one.. was my birthday a hundred years ago. DH was so non committal... I was needy.. I decided to go shopping. Bought myself a top.. There was a bakery next door. I bought myself a pretty cake with raspberry filling. I brought it home... took it to the kitchen.. DH still non committal...I picked up the sheet cake and took it to him and dumped it on his chest. Oh man.. Shock and Ahhhh! ! He has never forgotten or ignored my birthday since and that's been about 40 years. Also, he has never forgotten the cake on his chest and tells people about it now and then. Me, wished I had gotten to eat some of the cake LOL..

Anyway, I'm sorry you are so disappointed. I understand. One time.. not at band camp. DH bought me a dust buster for one occasion, I forget which. That was almost as disappointing as getting nothing.

Sometimes you have to be very blunt about what you want and expect. My DD has a DH like that. She now gives him some cash and tells him to go buy this or that or whatever it is that she wants. That wouldn't work for me. You have to find something that will work for you. You can't keep being disappointed over something that may or may not work out the way you want. You have to make it work.

Happy Anniversary :)
Hugs

I would be devestated if DH forgot our anniversary. We don't usually exchange gifts or anything, but we try to at least go out to dinner. Wasn't going to Outback celebration? Or did he not even acknowledge why you were going out? Regardless, I'm sure he has his good points and sometimes it's just best to focus on those (speaking from experience!).

I completely understand . . . .my DH never remembers ours and I used to be really hurt but I finally realized it isn't something he feels he needs to remember . . . I know he loves me and shows me in lots of ways throughout the year. Each year I remind him the week before, the day before and on that morning . . . I can't change the way he is and most of the time I don't want to.. . .in the end I still have the guy who is best for me and my best friend. emoticon

HELLO 2 's Finally We Meet Again !!!

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

This has been a very, very long time coming in fact I don't think I have seen the 2's in over 20 years !! But finally with the support of my Spark Friends and hard work I am in the 2's. I've been trying half heartily for the last year promising I will do it this challenge but no go. Well, I have officially done it and I'm not sure I even believe it.

A special thanks to my Sapphire Sister and BLC family for all the support during the Fall Challenge.

I became lazy with the blogging but here's a recap for October

Walking 3 miles daily
2 weeks no candy
2 weeks no fast food
2 weeks no biting my nails LOL

We are about to have a break between challenges, I just have to stay focused and not lose my momentum.

Dealing Without Using Food

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

I'm still walking 3 miles a day, finding it easier with each passing day. Today I was faced with a very uncomfortable situation which normally means time to grab a candy bar but instead I grabbed a book. sat outside and read for 3 hours.
I'm getting stronger with every passing day, thanks to Spark family.

Good for you! That's the way to go and the right decision! A good book can offer you plenty of "food" for thought and "nourishment" for the brain and "nutrition" for the psyche!
