After The Vacation

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Well I am home from vacation. Sad to have left such a beautiful, stress-free place and glad to be home with my little fur faces and back to watching my weight. I did not do too bad on this vacation, only gained a few pounds, probably because I was so active walking, swimming, etc.

Can you imagine if you were on vacation all the time? Wow, what a change that would be from one's normal lifestyle eating all that rich fantastic food prepared for you loaded with all of those fats and calories. Drinking those sweet concoctions laying by the pool all day long. Sitting at the slot machines, yet drinking again. WOW, talk about some weight gain. I think it would be virtually impossible to lose weight living a life like that.

So, even though it is sad being off vacation, home is where the heart is and I am glad to be home, that is until next vacation, which we are thinking about already (cruise to Alaska, New York is a possibility).Who knows where we will go, but for right now we are staying put, I am going to get this weight off and hopefully be at goal weight before the next vacation. I am determined to once and for all get this weight off and keep it off.

Learning to eat healthy and maintain a healthy weight is for every day, not just non-vacation days.

I've never been to the Bahamas -- my go to island vacation has been Hawaii since I'm a west coaster. It looks beautiful.

Ideas: Try an active vacation and you don't have to feel guilty about eating -- like Backroads biking or walking tours -- or just make sure you do some sustained exercise each day. Or don't think of vacation time as a time to eat everything you want -- or maybe only at one meal per day or something. It's easy to eat a healthy breakfast in your hotel room -- bring Kashi Go Lean, some skim milk, some fruit, some nonfat plain yogurt... and then for lunch eat a salad with lean protein or something, and then splurge at dinner. Or whatever! LOL.

Cheers,
Dana in Oakland, CA

How true. It is lovely to go away and let your hair down and relax - but at the end of the day home is where the heart is and it is always nice to go back home emoticon
Happy to hear you enjoyed your vacation.

Bahama Bound

Thursday, April 07, 2011

Finally, my vacation is here. Heading to tropical Bahamas for a fun-filled week. I am so, so excited for a little R&R. We have made reservations for Mesa Grill (which Bobby Flay owns) if there are any foodies out there. We are staying at the Atlantis Resort. Can you believe they have 17 different restaurants at the resort, not to mention, clubs, fitness center, massage, shopping, bars, lots of pools and casino. WOW, get exhausted just thinking about it. What a great time we are going to have. Lost plenty of weight for the trip to compensate for all the great food and drink I will be imbibing in. Will fill everyone in when I return next week. Have a fun-filled week and weekend everyone, I know I will. emoticon emoticon

Team Spirit

Monday, November 29, 2010

Pensacola Sparkers, what on earth is going on? There is no team spirit whatsoever. We are not setting a very good example for anyone new joining. No team walks, no support, no nothing!

The first of the year is coming sooner than you think and a lot of New Year's Resolutions are going to have something to do with weight loss and we need to get with the program. A lot of the Sparkers need our support and we need to let them know that we are here for them and welcome them to the team and we need to band together to help each and everyone of us to reach our goals. Losing weight is no fun and it certainly is not easy and most of us need all the support we can get. So ladies, lets try and be a little bit more active. I know it is the holidays and everyone is super busy with work, company coming in etc. but lets not forget what spark people is all about and get ready for the new year with a vengeance.

All of you Pensacola Sparkers come out, come out wherever you are and let yourselves be heard. The New Year is coming. Make a plan for the New Year and stick with it. All it takes is baby steps starting out. The weight did not come on overnight and will not come off overnight.

Lets do this! 32 days left in 2010. That is 32 days to come up with a plan to get rid of the extra weight in 2011. Think about it, make 2011 the year to be the "new you."

Thanks for rallying the troops. I'm guilty of not being around. You have been faithful to the team, and I appreciate that. I will try to do better.

Thanks for the reminder - even though I'm not a "Pensacola Sparker", I'm just as guilty of disregarding those "new member" alerts. I DO remember being new to this site and all the friendly welcomes and support I received. I never would have made it without the support - and now is my turn to pay it forward.

Thanks for the kick emoticonin the ever dereasing backside.

Domestically bred turkeys will drown by looking up. The wild turkeys are actually pretty smart.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Sunday, August 29, 2010

Well yet another soggy dreary day. I stayed in my jammies all day and did absolutely nothing but relax. I think this is the first time ever that I have done this and it felt sooooo good. My husband is usually the slacker in the house. Caught up on my way behind tivos and now off to take a nice really hot shower, get back in my jammies and catch up some more tivos. I will definitely be ready for the new work week tomorrow. Had leftovers for dinner so no fuss there. Hopefully we will all wake up to a beautiful sunny day tomorrow.
