Christmas day

Friday, December 25, 2009

Well the day is coming to an end and I am a little tired. It did not start out well. I got a call at 7am which is never good.Turned out ANgel spent the night in the hospital with heart problems again. She didn't want me to worry so she didn't call until they were sending her home. She has spent most of day sleeping.I just talked to her and she sounded much better and was going to eat.
Bill was very good to me.He got me a necklace

He also got me the first 3 volumes of the Wheel of Time books. They are fantasy books. My oldest son has read 8 of the 11 and he said they are good.I will see. He had to take back the book Wicked and a young man at Books a Million recommended these. He also gave me a gift certificate to Book a Million.Walmart and Bed Bath and Beyond. He is also putting money in bank for me to use to buy stuff on Amazon that I see. He also got me a set of Obsession perfume, lotion and small bottle for purse. So he took very good care of me.Oh I forgot.Bless his heart he tries so hard.He did get 2 blouses that are both going back. One doesn't fit and other is not something I will wear.
His brother and his wife came over and had dinner with us.I baked cornish hens, baked veggies and a tiny sliced ham.
I made enough veggies for an army but I will use leftovers for soup. Here is pic of veggies and them at table,Sorry the pic of them is a little blurry.

After lunch we played domino's. Karl won and I was 2nd.So I beat Bill again emoticon
So all in all it was a good day.Now I can rest up tomorrow for the big invasion of everyone coming. Bill only works 1 day next week so we will get to spend a lot of time together
Well I am going to go lean back in my recliner and rest.I hope you all had a great day and enjoy the weekend

Looks like you had a GREAT day! Your Bill is so terrific (I repeat myself). I hope Angel is okay.

I expected my son and daughter-in-law this afternoon, but when I talked to them this morning, she sounded terrible. She said it's just a cold, but colds have a way of turning into something much worse at this time of year. She has to work tomorrow and certainly doesn't need to be out in cold, rainy weather. So Josh brought the gifts over and picked up theirs. I sent dinner home with him, too. We'll all get together later in the week.

Rest up, my friend.

I hope Angel is better. How scary!

I like your necklace, very pretty. I think it's great that he will buy you clothes. Jason won't and I'm OK with that!

Sounds like you had a good day! Those veggies look yummy! I love to eat just veggies for a meal. YUM!!!

I downloaded pictures on Facebook and I also made a slideshow and downloaded it to my family website. We had a wonderful day as well.

Enjoy your family! I only work one day next week too and am looking forward to spending time with my family.

Take care and try to rest!

    Merry Christmas!
We are having a white one this year It rained all night then about day break it turned to snow. They said we had 9+ inches. It is beautiful, am so glad I don't have to be out in it. So thankful that I told out kids to wait until the week end to come over. (I'm not up to cooking, or visiting got that matter) They could not have gotten here. I 44 is closed from here to OK City. They live about 45 minutes south of here, but they are snowed in also.
You all have a wonderful day tomorrow.
Love you, my friend.

Will try to get this done before Angel gets here. I just baked some bread to make bread crumbs and once they cool I will smash them. Bill asked for baked chicken fingers and I was out of my homemade crumbs so I had to make more.I needed to do it anyway. Anything to make my sweetie happy.
he is going nuts trying to get me something for Christmas. He thought he had got a good one and I spoiled it for him. I have been talking about wanting to see the play Wicked that is playing in Tampa in Feb so I called and got tickets. Then I called Bill and in talking he asked if I had read the book and I said I had had book for a long time. Poor baby.He bought the book the other day.He thought he had done good and now he has to take it back. He is paying for half of the wicked tickets so I can count that as gift. I really can't think of anything to tell him to get.I did tell him I needed another bottle of Obsession perfume. He said something that makes me think he has gotten something different and I hope he hasn't.He tries but buying me stuff is something he just doesn't get the hang of.
Just got back from heart doc and he didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I do have fluid in the lungs but it happens. I will take a complete extra dose of diuretics today. Which can cause a lot of other problems if I don't make sure to take enough extra potassium. He is such a sweetie. He proceeded to tell me what a remarkable woman I was and how much he truly loved me. Some charmer. He always tells me he loves me but this time he really went over board. I think he is just amazed I am still around. He was looking at my meds and I jokingly asked how many more was he going to add.He just shook his head and said it had to be daunting for me because he was for him when he looked at all my meds. There are 6 that all tie in with the fluid.Even the gout is mostly a result of fluid. I also got big hug from Dom who is a big bear of a man.My kind of guy. And another nurse. My nickname thanks to Bill is trouble but the nurse says it in a loving way. I am sorta one of their favorite patients. At least thats what they tell me.
I know there was something I wanted to tell you but can't remember now.
I am going to start a new journal called gratitude journal.I will try to list 3 things I am grateful for each day.My friend Carol RURAL3 blogged about starting one and I am going to copy her.She got a neat one from Amazon that is just for doing that.
Ok I need to get stuff ready for supper.Angel should be here soon. Better be good.Christmas is almost here. Love you guys more than you know.

Oh I remember. Now before you read it you may need to go to the bathroom so when you start laughing you will be ok.

I kept thinking there was something familier about my new frames. I still am not sure I like them. And after I made my discoverey today all I can say is.Well!!!!!
My glasses look just like the new ones that Ugly Betty is now wearing. emoticon I said I wanted a new look but I don't think that was what I was thinking emoticon

I don't watch "Ugly Betty". Post a picture, I'm sure they look fine!

Bill tries hard and that's all that counts. Jason is the same way. Years ago we agreed to shop for each other together so we get exactly what we want, and in the correct size if it's clothes. That way we stay out of the return lines at the stores. It works for us.

I didn't know you had gout. Jason has it too. Knock on wood he hasn't had a flare up in a long time.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas! I'm hoping after Friday things will calm down and I can stop being so grouchy. This morning I woke up at 5:45AM and was leaving the house for work at 6:50AM. I didn't leave work until almost 7PM and then went grocery shopping. I'm looking forward to relaxing this weekend.

When you have been married a long time it is really hard to get gifts for each other at least in my house because we buy something if we want or need it. Then when it comes down to it there is nothing left to get. I sense you and Bill are like that too. Besides, how many trips have you made to WalMart lately? Have a wonderful Christmas.

Can't wait to see the ugly Betty frames.

This week is flying by.
My GS Christopher 6 and GD Kayla 10 stayed with me for a couple of hours this afternoon.Their mom Rebekah needed to shop without them. First time in years they have stayed. He is 6 and got bored as I wouldn't let him outside. But Kayla had a good time in kitchen with me.I let her help and then make some of her own chocolate covered ritz crackers.I picked up some chocolate mint melting chocolate yesterday. They taste just like girl scout mint cookies. I let her take a dozen home plus some of the popcorn stuff. I talked to her about this being a happy memory for her when it comes time for Grandma to go to heaven. She liked the happy memory thing. That is it for making sweets.I am finished.
I gave Rebekah one of my smaller Christmas cactus and she watered my plants on patio that were very thirsty.
I am having a lot of trouble with fluid again. It is an endless battle.
I know I may regret it but I am taking a break from counting calories until next Monday. I have no intentions of eating wildly.I just want a break from all the calorie counting.
We are having a little cooler weather but it will be back to the 70's soon.It was in 60's today.
Ok I am going to go sit with Bill after i clean up my kitchen mess. Have a good night all

Making memories together is what kids love, I think.. It not only made your granddaughter feel special to be in the kitchen with you, but it probably gave you a little tug in the heart, too.. The grandson will get to where he will enjoy being inside with you, maybe doing the dominoes with him..

If I don't get back on in the next day or so, I hope you and Bill have a Merry Merry Christmas with your family.. God's blessings be unto you Eleni!!!

Hugs,
Pat

My Mom always made christmas special for me and my sisters when we were growing up. Then we all made christmas special for our children. And now, like you, I am trying to make it special for my grandchildren.
Eleni, besides making a special memory for your grandchildren, I am sure you will agree, they made a special memory today for you.

Every morning driving to work, I hear a commercial on the radio..."People think Christmas is about giving gifts. Christmas isn't about giving gifts. It's about making memories. The gift may last a year or even two. The memory will last a lifetime." I have no idea what it's advertising, but a happy Christmas memory pops into my head every time I hear it. You gave Kayla and even bored Christopher a happy memory to last a lifetime.

The choc. covered crackers look good.
And you were so sweet to make memories with your grandchildren. You never can determine what they will remember the most. Mine are grown but remember decorating a tree in our back yard , for the birds, with toast covered with peanut butter and dunked in bird seed. We sliced apples and oranges and threaded them on yarn and they hung that on the tree. They were talking about that a couple of weeks ago.
What are you doing about the fluid retention? Do you take something different?
Don't worry about the calories, just enjoy the Holidays. Try to remember to make wise choices, but if you can't resist, just start from that point...and go forward. Somethines you just need a break anyway.
Take care of yourself!!! I probably won't be back on until after Christmas. So have yourself a Merry Christmas.
