Blogging Late

Monday, December 21, 2009

It has been a semi busy day.
I got my hair cut and I picked up my new glasses. I am going to have to get glasses adjusted as they are hurting above my ears.I am not so sure I like the frames I picked out.I thought I picked out black ones but they are a dark copper like color. I also got a small headache from wearing them.
I finished fixing the popcorn stuff I tried to make.I will send part to work with Bill and save a few for Sunday. I will make some ritz crackers covered in chocolate tomorrow.I got some mint chocolate so they should taste just like the Girl Scout cookies.
Here is front of house. In one pic you can see Bill's truck. In one you can see front Christmas tree in window. He has some pretty santa's etc that usually go on railing but couldn't find them til last night,I told him to forget it and he can put them on next year.

Talk to you tomorrow emoticon emoticon emoticon

Your home is lovely with the lights all aglow.. Yummy treats too. The tree in the window gives such a warm atmosphere. Santa can't help but skinny down that chimney to find your tree , or shimmy through the front door if you have no chimney.. LOL

I thought I heard sleigh bells the other night, but I was dreaming and when I woke up it was my tv showing another commercial.. LOL..

Merry Christmas

Beautiful. Eleni. I love the decorations.

I had a very busy day yesterday and am up with the birds again today.
My Soldier Boy is traveling today and so is our Daughter in Law and the grands.
I will be less stressed when they all arrive safely.

I work tomorrow then am off until next week.

Take care and have Be Blessed.

Bill did a wonderful job with the lights. They look great. I am all ready for Christmas am going to make cookies tomorrow and take them to the Grand kids and the little ones across the street. Give them all a sugar buzz. Keep thoughts of sugar plums and candy canes dancing in your head. Christmas is a special time of the year. Enjoy. Sandy emoticon

Love the lights. We don't do outside lights anymore. But think they are pretty.
It has been a really busy day for me. I finished shopping, have most of it wrapped. Made cookies bought ones that you just put on a cookie sheet and bake. The raisin ones aren't bad, but will make choc. chip ones from scratch tomorrow.
Need to get to bed...

Ooohh, I love Christmas lights. I don't do outside lights, just inside decorations. When we were kids, we'd all pile in the car the weekend before Christmas and see the lights. I grew up in a town where neighborhoods went together to decorate. The whole town was extra bright from after Thanksgiving to New Year's Day.

Just got back from grocery store. My goodness. How in the world can 2 people spend so much money in the grocery store.I am embarrassed to even say how much. And the only meat I got was 4 cornish hens that were on sale.
I have been playing with melting chocolate and so far I am not doing so good. I did make some covered ritz crackers that turned out good. I guess it takes practice.
Here is a picture of the rose plant, one of the crotons and one of the liaoipa (sp) grass that Santa (Bill) put put outside. He is going outside right now to get correct name of the grassy plant. Ok the correct spelling courtesy of Bill is Liriope or Aztec grass.

My sisters husband is doing much better.
Ok I still have groceries to put up and I want to spend some more time with Bill.We started another domino's game last night and I am ahead for now.
Angel came and got the futon from back room so it is ready to put Bill's exercise thing in there.
Here are a couple views of my largest Christmas cactus

Ok I am outa here.Hope your day has been good.

I have never seen a Christmas Cactus in bloom. I owned one for awhile...even through Christmas, but it didn't bloom. Then it died. I was not very good at keeping plants alive back then.

Just for the record, I am rooting for you on your donimo's game.

Merry Christmas!

I make chocolate covered pretzels at my house, they are super easy, just drop the pretzels in the chocolate stir them around and use a fork to fish them out. Put them on wax paper to dry they are so yummy, of course I use sugar free chocolate as Hubby is diabetic. But I can't tell the difference.
The other thing that is easy is throw nuts in the melted chocolate, like almonds or pecans then dump them into a pan with wax paper and when they are set up break them into nut bark. Have fun with the melting chocolate. If you need more ideas just let me know. Sandy

I haven't really had any problems with chocolate. I'm more of a baker than a chef anyway. I'd LOVE to be able to open a bakery and bake goodies all day. Keep on practicing. Maybe google some recipes.

Ok Last night was bad and I didn't get up til almost 1pm today. So needless to say I was not in a great mood. But thanks to my sweetie and my pal Wanda it got much better real quick.
First after I was almost awake Bill drug me out on front porch in my nightgown. He had bought some new plants.See I am not only one that gets carried away. He went to replace my hibiscus that he somehow kills. And those are hard to kill. He couldn't find any hibiscus where he went.He had a pretty white rose plant.3 crotons he put in between my desert rose plants and 3 others over by fence. Then I have to go look out back.He had another tomato plant that had about 6 small tomatoes on it. He said Santa must have dropped them off.
Then he brings in the mail and I have a package from Wanda (Mickey341) Inside was red kitchen gadgets etc. So now my bad mood is completely gone. Then on top of that Bill cooked lunch(subway sandwich). Not a bad way to start the day.
My sister Joanne's husband is still in hospital. He has a severe infection in his intestines. They are hoping meds will work.If not he will need surgery.Yesterday was his birthday.Rotten way to celebrate.
Today is my weigh in day.I was expecting a big gain so it was nice to see only a 1# gain.So that was another nice surprise today.
Well I need a get something done today.Angel is coming to get the futon and I want to see what else is in closet that I can get rid of.
Hope your weekend is going good.

Glad the package arrived and perked up your day. I hope it wasn't something you already have. I was going thru the store and they just jumped right out at me! ha Thought of you right away and your red items in the kitchen.
How I envy your weather. We aren't too bad, just can't have things like outside because they would all freeze. My garage lookd like a nursery. Ted says it's had to get the cars in without running over a plant!
Bed time...take care and I hope you have a good night!

Bill is a treasure. Hurray for him, turning your day around like that. I hope your sister's husband is okay. Still no snow around here, just drizzly rain. I finally did some shopping. I think I'll do gift cards for people. Except for my son and daughter-in-law I have no idea what to get anyone. My creativity is at a low ebb this year. I think gift cards might be the best way to go. Folks can get what they want that way. And they are easy, breezy to wrap. emoticon

Friday and Just got Home From wal-Mart

Friday, December 18, 2009

Just home from Walmart and those that know me know what that means.
I some how ended up on candy aisle. I swear it was an accident. It was awful.Sooo much good stuff. I ended up with 1 small gingerbread cookie,1 claxton fruit cake, and a small bag of chocolate covered pretzels. The fruit cake I will cut up into small pieces and throw in freezer. On way home Bill went in Micheals and got me some dipping chocolate. I am going to blame that one on my cyber daughter Robin. I want to try to drizzle some on popcorn.
Back to my Walmart adventure. Bill also got a container of Bob's peppermint candy which is the soft peppermint candy.
Next I got Brianna's extra presents. She is only grandchild that gets extra but she is only one that is always helping me all year long. The Walmart we went to was not a super store but an older one that they are expanding. I found her a hair straighterner but they had a skinny and a fat one.Another shopper who was also shopping for a teenager told me her daughter liked the skinny one better. But I double checked with Angel and she said same thing. It is a wet/dry one.Sounded good to me. Then I was going to get her some eyeliner and mascara.I think 7-11 has a better selection. But I got her some anyway and then some hair bands and clasps for her hair.
And we know I always find me something.I wanted a new blouse but I didn't like any of them. But I went thru pans etc and saw a Paula Deen roasting ceramic dish. I roast veggies all the time so I got it

Bill also picked up a new set of towels for bathroom. And I got a few extra candles to wrap for unexpecting family showing up. We also stopped at shoe store and Bill got 2 pairs of shoes. So it was an expensive trip but all Christmas is done.
Bill's brother and his wife are coming to have lunch with us on Christmas day.I am fixing corning hens and baked /grilled veggies. I do have a very small ham in freezer and may fix that.None of us should be eating ham so this way it will just be a taste for everyone. Then they will stay for the afternoon and show us some card games.
We decided to move the futon out of back room so Bill's exercise gym can be put up.I was going to put it back here but it is too big.So Angel is coming to get it for Brianna as her bed needs to go. So we also got a full size air mattress to use in that room when Brianna spends the night. His gym thing will fold up. Plus I am giving her the sheets and comforter.I don't need them and it gets them out of my way.
I am giving my daughter Joy my ad-doer. We will have a nice little exercise room back there.
OK I have rattled enough. It was a good trip and all I have to do is wrap Brianna's present and put my sisters gift certificate in something.
My sister just called and said they are at emergency room with her husband. My other sister is with her. I think her husband is 83 and has some problems.Hopefully it isn't anything too serious. Now they think it diverticulitis.
Gotta go.I have to go get clothes in dryer. Bill is cooking tonight (Take-out)
Stay warm my freezing pals.

Uh-oh, Wal-Mart. Does your Wal-Mart have a craft section? They may even sell the melting chocolate there.

I LOVE my wet/dry hair straightener. It saves time not having to dry my hair before straightening it. I have thick hair and it takes me 30 - 40 minutes to straighten it from a wet state but even longer if I have to blow dry it prior. She'll like it.

Sounds like you got alot accomplished on your shopping excursion. Relax this weekend.

It is a cloudy windy day and just a tiny bit cool.We are suppose to get some cooler weather for a few days but our weather is like a heat wave to some of you.
Been on the lazy side the last couple of days but thats ok. I was suppose to see heart doc today but they rescheduled me to next week.Suited me as I didn't want to go.Now my lower back muscles are hurting. I often wonder what it would be like to not be hurting somewhere. But I just tell myself it could be worse.
Here is a pic of 3 of my smaller Christmas cactus that are outside and just starting to bloom.

MMMMMM Once again I am at a loss for words. I did have a stray cat on patio yesterday.Boy that is pitiful that my excitement for the day was a stray cat wandering by. emoticon
My eating during the day is great and my night eating is still a disaster. But I am still trying. I try not to get too frustrated as that will just make me eat myself sick and I am not going to do that.
Ok Since I am still in my nightgown I am going to go hit the shower and put some clothes on.

PS I want to thank poker1990 for commenting on my blogs but I have no way to contact you as you have no spark page. Any of you that do not have a spark page please think about making one.It can be as simple as hello I am so and so. At least that way people can send you comments and encouragements.

Hi My Friend. So many of the things you talk about sound a lot like my life. I too do well with the eating during the day, but when it's dark and I can't sleep, those foods just seem to dance in my head (two pieces of cake last night.) My cactus has not bloomed either. It depends on the amount of dark it gets but apparently mine has had trouble "sleeping" too. Gotta go. Mother has my morning scheduled today. Have a great weekend.

I'm so sorry that you are having so many aches and pains here lately.. Sometime it gets to be to much to deal with, but we must endure it and keep on trying.. I know how the nights can be more tempting.. It gets quiet and the hubby is gone to bed, and the fridge calls our names.. Damn fridge always has something in there that has the voices that say ' come in here, I need you to take a bite of me' or the pantry has some kind of goodie that stays hidden until it gets good and dark outside.. it's like a ghost of goodies just waiting to spook you in to eating them before they snatch your tastebuds out..

Oh geezz I better stop, I heard a noise in the kitchen.. I think it's the cheese and crackers having a party and I'm invited.... BBwwaahhhaaaa...

Love ya Eleni... stay STRONG.. forgive my silliness.. It's late here, and I'm sleepy now..
