Back from grocery store and have most of stuff put up. I am always amazed at how big our grocery bill always is.But I am very thankful that I can afford to buy what I want. Many people can't.And there was a day I couldn't even.I even remember days when I had no money for groceries and a few times I had no food in my house.Been there done that.So I am very aware of how fortunate I am.
I did get the stuff for the cookie pizza pie. But I am just going to make a mini one. I bought bite size candies that can be kept in freezer out of site. I am going to use refrigerated cookie dough this time. But if I decide to make something like this at Christmas I am going to get a huge cookie pie already made and use frosting and then decorate.Much easier. And will make it just before everyone comes.
Ok on the the Food Demon.I did beat him 5 out of 7 days this week.I had a 3.8# loss. But this is a relose but thats ok.
62 15
So I am still way ahead. I am slowly getting back on track.
We are not giving out candy this year so we will keep light off and close blinds. I have been giving out candy for 40 years and it is time to take a break. Plus it won't be here for me to get into.It doesn't matter if I got candy I hated I would end up getting into it.The stuff I got for special cookie will be in back freezer.Out of sight out of mind.
I made my weekly pot of soup last night. Bill was laughing at me as I was getting it on during the commercials. When Monk came back on he would tell me. I got it all bagged up this morning.I tried something a little different.I used a small can of tomato paste with the tomatos and tomato sauce. This time each bag is 2 cups and 98 cal. I always add broth and frozen okra or broccolli when I eat it.So I can have a huge bowl for 150 to 200 cal or less. So I am set for soup all next week.
Well my friends I still have some groceries to put up. Have a safe and fun Halloween.

Yay!! You are doing so well fighting that demon!! That was a great loss!!!

One good thing about living at the top of a really bad driveway is, nobody comes to our house to trick or treat. The girls got candy, but it was mostly stuff that I don't like. So, it all worked out. Have a great week!

emoticon on that weight loss. You had to lose it again so it counts. You did the work. This time I know you can keep it off. We had some candy here. I bought peanut butter stuff because I KNOW I won't eat that. Yuck!!! But we decided to go to good will and check out some new duds. DH got flannel shirts and I got a leather/suede blazer for $9.99 still had the covers over the buttons like in the store so I think it is new. So we weren't home when T or T started and then we went to church. When we got home there was only 30 min left of it and no one came. So DH gets the yucky candy.

Hi Eleni...that's fab on the weight loss. You are so smart to fill up on soup. I used to have a weight watcher soup that was SO delicious. It was only a 1 point per cup..so that was really low. It was 3 cans fat free chicken broth, 2 packages of frozen veggies, 1 can rotel tomatoes (I always chose the spicy one) 8 oz. velvetta lite cheese. I loved that soup so much...very filling and tasty. Another good one at only 1/2 point per cup:
3 cans low fat chicken broth, 2 small cans Italian Stewed Tomatoes, 2 large bags of spinach 1/2 c ditallinni or orzo pasta. Also very good and filling.

Of course you know now that I am RAW/Clean I wouldn't eat these because they are processed..especially the velvetta cheese..but since you aren't on my band wagon yet...I'm perfectly willing to tell you about these wonderfully tasty soups, I used to enjoy them so much..and there's no reason you can't too.

And now I can share one of my CLEAN recipes that will satisfy your sweet tooth and be super healthy for you all at the same time!

Just buy butternut squash (I buy the already cut up package at Costco) spread it out on a baking pan...drizzle a little olive oil over it..sprinkle a little cumin, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg, then drizzle 100% pure maple syrup...pop in a hot oven about 400 degrees for about 20-30"...check it every so often because every oven is different...you'll love it!

emoticon That's awesome you lost 3.8 pounds, even if you're losing it again. Your hard work is paying off.

We bought $16.00 worth of candy and we only had 5 trick-or-treaters. I don't know why nobody is coming this year. Maybe kids were discouraged like my little guy and gave up. Hardly anybody was handing out candy. Of course the candy we have left is all the good stuff. Kit-Kat, M&M's, 3 Musketeers, Milky Way, and Snickers. It will be a test of will power. I will eat some, but I will also be able to walk away.

I remember a time when we struggled to buy groceries too. We're lucky that we have the money for groceries and our bills. We may not have much left over after that, but we're well fed, dry, and warm.

Eleni, you are doing great!! We are giving out candy this year (if any children come by) but dh is keeping it with him and not near my sticky fingers. When we turn the lights out, he will put it up where I won't know where it is. lol Like you said, out of sight, out of mind.

Not too much going on. I was thinking about making my weekly pot of soup. But I also needed to make my meds up. I went with the meds. I am making up enough for 5 weeks. I hate doing it and it takes so long so I would rather make more and do it less.
Tonight was every man for himself.I told Bill we needed to use some of the stuff up in little freezer. I had a low cal mini pizza and some mac and cheese. I still have plenty of calories left for later.
I saw a cute recipe for a Sweetie Pie Candy pizza. I am so tempted to make it and freeze pieces for later. Not too sure of how well I can stay out of it. I have several kinds of candy in back freezer that I never get in but once in a long while. This thing probably has a million calories. Cookie dough, peanut butter, choco chips and chopped up candy bars with M & M's. Truly decadent. I am still thinking. I could get stuff and wait til the day Angel comes and then let them take most of it home. I have done well with staying away from sweets but when it is everywhere like this time of the year it is harder.Start getting that deprived feeling a little. Oh well.Have to learn to deal.
Some people say there will come a day when this gets easier. I find that hard to believe. At times it is so hard and seems so hopeless. Ofcourse it isn't hopeless and can and will be done by all of us. I do know if I didn't need to have more food it would be easier. I can't just eat a salad or small cup of soup.I need the volume. My soup and salads help me make it. I have to have stuff I can eat a lot of for lesser calories.Like the 5 calorie jello. And the 50 cal yogurt. Somedays I get so tired of planning and keeping track etc. But i have to do it in order to lose. I know it will all be worth it some day.So I just keep on truckin. Get ur done.
Ok I stll have to finish making up my meds. Enjoy the weekend and have a safe holiday.

    Hi there!

This is the FIRST year ever..that we didn't even buy Halloween candy..there are so few trick or treaters that even come to our house..unless it's the older kids that shouldn't be out by this age anyhow. Most of the toddlers go to the mall. In years past I always bought my fav candies to pass out and what was left..I of course ate.

I'm telling you if you can just get your palate interested in fruit...you can use it every time to ward of the sugar monster..and then you will get all of those yummy nutrients and enyzmes in the process...and be happy and proud of yourself for choosing healthy...I know you and I don't always agree on healthy...but in this case I'm being YOUR mom and telling you Eleni...eat your fruit and veggies..hee hee! I want you healthy and around for a LONG LONG time! emoticon emoticon

Landon and Grampa...do too..they are adorable in this pic!

We all have things that trigger us. Mine is chips. I can't go near them or I will eat the whole bag. My brain loses control during that time and I hate myself afterwards but during the process I can't stop. If yours is that candy then don't make that pizza because you know what will happen. If you do decide to make it when Angel comes let them take it all home except one piece. You will be happier afterwards.
How much fiber do you have in your day? That will keep you feeling full longer than a yogurt or jello. In any case, cute pic of Landon. Grandpa teaching him bad habits already. emoticon

I agree, this time of year is so hard. Candy is EVERYWHERE!! It doesn't help that I've been craving junk and we have candy and cookies all over the house. We'll be getting rid of most of the candy tomorrow for trick-or-treat. We'll have what my son gets but I'm pretty good about staying out of his stash.

The candy pizza sounds yummy. Sounds like a fun alternative to a birthday cake. Making it when your daughter comes over is a good idea. You can save a few pieces in the freezer for yourself and give her the rest. If you make it you need to take a picture.

Lately the food that filled me up isn't anymore. I used to be OK with a yogurt for breakfast around 8:30 or so and I'd be good until 11:30 when I ate lunch. Not anymore. I have to have a snack. Since I'm eating a snack I push my lunch back to about 1PM. I don't know what's going on. I guess I need to start eating a breakfast that fills me up more.

It is time consuming and a pain, but it is worth it! You see the results! There's a reason we're doing this.

Great Blog - loved the photos.

Here is a great Stew recipe I think you would like.

Hugs, Sunny

Ciambotta (Italian Vegetable Stew)

Description
This vegetable-laden stew makes a delicious dinner with crusty bread. When reduced just a bit, it could also make a hearty pasta sauce.

Ingredients
1/2 lb. eggplant, unpeeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
1 tablespoons good, fruity extra-virgin olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
5 large cloves garlic, minced
1 stalk celery, thinly sliced
a large handful of fresh basil, stems removed, chopped
1 lb. ripe plum tomatoes, passed through a manual food mill, or peeled and chopped finely in the food processor (or use a 14-oz. can Italian plum tomatoes, drained and processed)
3/4 lb. new potatoes, or any waxy potato, scrubbed and cut into 1x2-inch pieces
1/2 lb. zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch rounds
1 large or 2 small sweet red or yellow peppers, seeded and cut into 1x2-inch strips
Salt and freshly-ground black pepper

Instructions
1. Toss the eggplant cubes in a colander with 2 teaspoons salt. Let it sit in the sink until it starts to sweat out the bitter juices.Rinse them, drain, them and pat dry, squeezing a little.

2. In a large pot, heat the oil. Add the onion, garlic, and celery. Stir-cook over high heat for about 5 minutes, adding a little water as necessary to prevent sticking and burning. Add the basil and stir-cook for a minutes, then add the tomatoes. When it comes to a simmer, add the eggplant, potatoes and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir, bring to a boil, then turn down and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes. Add the zucchini and peppers and simmer 15 minutes more, or until all of the vegetables are tender.

3. Taste for salt and pepper, transfer to a warm serving bowl, and allow to stand 15 minutes before serving.

Variations:
Use Yukon Gold potatoes instead of the waxy potatoes.

Instead of zucchini, you can use any summer squash, or try using cauliflower or fennel root.

Instead of eggplant, you can use mushrooms.

Quiet Thursday

Today has been quiet here so I will just leave this with you

We all know someone who’s been having a rough time or someone who’s luck seems to always run short. What can you do about it? You can remember that we all have bad days and offer support. Think about how much it means to you when someone offers a shoulder or helping hand when you’re having a bad day. Use that feeling of gratitude to help someone else. Become someone’s inspiration and hope, showing them that it is okay to stumble, offering a hand, and helping them up again!

Did not sleep well last so I am tired today. Food Demon whopped my butt good last night.
But on good side the scale was finally down from the fluid.
I made a crock pot meal for supper tonight and used some fingerling potatoes which are just baby potatoes. But. I have 2 new ones.A purple potato and a pink potato.
And here is picture I am working on.It isn't finished yet.It still needs a lot of work
Hope you are all having a good day.Gotta go finish supper.

Blooming Tuesday

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

This is blooming tuesday on one of my teams and I only have a few things in bloom and I have shown them many times. But I do have this that Bill brought me last night. Just because he wanted to make me smile.Isn't he just the best.
But he can be sneaky too. He just came out here and asked if I wanted some pennies. I waylayed him earlier and swiped his pocket change. Sounds like he was being nice.Right? Wrong. He doesn't want to sit and put them in folders. Thats ok.I don't mind doing it.So that is his loss. emoticon
Our weather has been warm and it is suppose to be even warmer in the next two days.Right now it is raining which is always good as we always need rain. But 90 degrees in Oct is hot.
I was good and did work on my art today for about 45 minutes. Thats 30 minutes more than yesterday. I called my art teacher friend.I told her there were 3 ways of drawing. Her way which is the right way, the wrong way and my way. I told her I was somewhere inbetween. The picture doesn't look too bad as long as you don't look too close.
I did beat my Food Demon really good last night. I won't do as good tonight but still will win.Just on high side compared to low side of last night. Once I screw up it takes time to get it together. I admire those that seemly never get off track.I am just not that good.
Ok hope you all had a good day. I jsut have the next few hours to get thru.
Maybe if I watch the biggest loser it will keep me out of kitchen.I just dislike Tracy so bad.It ruins watching the show
