It is late to start blogging but I will leave some pictures.
We just got back from a meet the author book signing by my friend Deborah who is a sparker too.I met her months ago for lunch.Tonight I took Bill ,Angel, and Brianna to see her. Bill is not a book person. But Angel and I are and Brianna likes all the ghost stuff.Bill bought her the book and she was thrilled. She is grandpa's girl.
And here are a couple of pictures of my large orchid with Bill and I so you can really see how big it is.
I did beat the Food Demon again yesterday.I should today but it has been a strange day. Did not sleep well so slept a lot today and eating was out of order.

I'm a ghost believer! I've had a few experiences and would love to spend the night at a place that's haunted.

WOW, your orchid is huge!!! It's beautiful!

Sunny Monday

Monday, October 19, 2009

It is a beautiful day here in sunny Florida.Got a little cool last night but it is warm now.
I have been trying to find an old picture of myself back when I rode bicycles. I found the album it was in but no picture.I think it is on the birthday board. When I turned 60 we made a huge board of my life in pictures.I think it is on that.It is behind the other desk and too heavy for me to lift.Bill will get it out later today. But I did have this one from my fishing days.I use to go fishing every day I had off. It has been years since I last used my rods.
And I got this off of facebook of our youngest grandchild Landon with his parents

I beat the Food Demon last night and plan on doing the same today. I just got back from getting my hair cut. I have known the lady that cuts my hair for years and she commented on me looking like I had lost more weight.Doesn't that always make us feel better. It was enough to keep me from getting some fries when I stopped for a drink afterwards. Went home and got some 5 cal jello's out.
Tonight is turkey burgers with grilled/baked veggies.
We will finished up our game of domino's tonight. I am getting beat big time.It will take a miracle to even get close. But it is fun anyway. It is his turn to win anyway.
Tomorrow night I am going to the library to see my spark friend MDMNINA speak. Angel and Brianna are going with me.Haven't talked Bill into it yet.
Will I need to jump in shower and get the loose hairs off my back.
So far it has been a good day.

Great pictures!! That's one ugly fish!

That's great that your hairdresser sees that you're losing weight. It gives you the motivation to continue.

It's a beautiful day here too. We went to the Milwaukee County Zoo today and I ended up taking off my jacket because I got too hot. The trees are changing colors as well. Beautiful day!

What a cutie Landon is! You have a very lovely family! I know where they get their looks from! Landon has that friendly glow about him that you do! he definitely took after you!
You still have a chance tonight with Bill!( unless you just feel sorry for him) and oh yeah! emoticonon whipping the food demon! emoticon

Not a great day but here are some pics

Sunday, October 18, 2009

I did not sleep much at all last night.I have been in bed off and on all day. But feel much better now since I got a short nap.
The Food Demon got me again last night. But the scale was down today. It is a shame my weigh in day was yesterday.
But I do have some pictures to share
First is the change we made in kitchen.A small change but I like it.As some of you know I do everything from that one spot. I have everything that I can close by. I picked up another set of measuring cups yesterday.I get tired of digging in drawer so I picked up some hooks.Bill put them under the cabinet..I use the 1 cup and 1/2 cup the most so those are on 1st 2 hooks. The last hook has 1/4 cups.Above on my knife strip which I love is the new red woodpecker kitchen scissors and 2 new knives.
Next is the jello Bill found that only has 5 calories. It is same size as the 10 cal jello and tastes just as good.In fact if I were blind folded I couldn't tell the difference.
And now for the pomegranate. I am pleased to say I do like it.But I don't see how you could add it to salads unless you are suppose to eat the tiny seed inside. The juice is real good. Do you eat the thing or spit out the tiny seed.
I took it apart over a bowl instead of in water which is way it was suggested. This way I didn't lose any juice.
I did get my nails done and the little gal that did them likes to play with decoration a nail.

And here is a visitor outside my window
Ok Bill has the card table up to play domino's so away I go. Hope you are all having a good day.

Have a great Monday. It is back to work for me today. I dread going as our Social Worker lost her Mom on Friday. So Sad!

The easiest way I found to seed a pomegranate is to cut off the crown and cut it in half around the middle. Cut four slits around the cut edge. Place the pomegranate palm side down in the palm of your hand over a bowl. Take a heavy spoons and hit the hard peel and the seeds just fall out. You ca also freeze the seeds. They are great on a green salad. Very good for you too.

I called Costco to see if they had any pomegranates in yet. No, I was so sad!!! I can't wait to get a box or two.

I shell the kernels of 2 or 3 fruits into a glass pan filled with water, get all the pith out, rinse, drain and then eat or store in the refrig. I put them on salads, on top of cereal cold or hot, eat them by the handfuls or use my recipe

Pomegranate & Celery. Make a plate of these up at Christmas time because they look so lovely!!! They look like rubies on top a blanket of snow.

I love your spider nail too. My fingers are to fat and wide to look nice with polish on them.

Have a great week!

I love your new knives and you have to tell me about the strip. Do they just stick to it like a magnet? It looks to me like the other visitor outside your window got stuck on your nail. Are you sure it isn't going to crawl away? emoticon I don't do pomegranate. It seems too complicated for me.

Pomegranates are both delicious and annoying to eat. I think when they are really ripe you can eat the whole thing, but I always used to spit the seeds out when we used to have a pomegranate bush on our property. Haven't had one in years. emoticon

Is the pomegranate sweet?

I like the hook idea for the measuring cups. I'm always dogging around for mine. I have 3 sets and sometimes I can't find the one I'm looking for. It gets frustrating!

    Hi Eleni
Yes you ARE meant to eat the seeds as well. One great thing about pomegranate, aside from the fact that they are low cal and oh so good for you is that they take a fair bit of time to eat.
Have a great week.

Love the set up in your kitchen! I always like things right at my hands too! I haven't seen that brand of jello although we do have a similar brand, I will have to pick some up and try it!
You can enjoy all the pomegranates you like! We have a tree in our yard! My DH likes them but I could never get used to the taste! One of the very few fruits I don't care about.
Your nails look great! Love the spider! Hope you won at domino's!
Hope you and Bill have a Great Day! Loved the blog and oh Yeah! Loved your visitor!

Today was weigh in and I saw the results of my Food Demon beating me 4 times this week.My worse week ever. I had a small gain of .4 but I have only myself to blame. Have to get my act together. This will not happen again.Enough said. I will be as kind to myself as I tell others to be.
We went to Target.I am going to blame it on Audra as she put idea in my head when she sent me ad for red pans. Ok It wasn't Audra's fault.I went very willingly. I almost never go to Target but I had a good idea I would find some red.
I was looking for a red cutting board but the one they had was too small. But I found a few goodies.New measuring cups, new kitchen sissors, new knife, new strainer.2 red coffee cups. Bill added me some hooks so I can hang measuring cups where they are easy to get to.
Bill found some sugar free jello that is only 5 calories.I will let you know how they taste tomorrow along with the pomagranite.
I was watching 2 mockingbirds this morning and they can get rough. They were flying full speed chasing each other. They caught each other in mid air and went spiraling to the ground.I couldn't see them on ground as they landed on other side of wooden fence and on other side of pool. But they were widl chasing each other.
Ok I am on small laptop and it is not easy to use.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend emoticon

Take care and keep on keeping on.

Your weight gain was small and you'll take it off next week! You know why why it happened and it can be corrected. Don't beat yourself up over it too much!

I haven't been to a Target in over a year. I refuse to shop there. I have noticed more red kitchen gadgets lately.

5 calorie jell-o???? Does it taste like anything?

Friday

It has been another tired day. But took some extra potassium and that seems to have helped.
We left earlier to go to grocery store and when we left house it was pouring rain.We came back home. Then went back out later. Went to Chili's for supper.Had my list and it pretty much only leaves the salmon as healthiest. There are several that are low in calories but salt is out the roof. But I did good and came out with a good count.
When we came out there was a nice rainbow.

The Food Demon has tore me up this week and I have no idea why. But I should be ok today.
I did get a pomegranate. They actually had a nice brochure next to them showing how to clean and eat.I already had the info but I thought this brochure was a nice touch.Wish they did it with all the strange foods but they don't.
Tomorrow is weigh in day and we will see how much damage Food Demon did. I think I will be ok but don't know until tomorrow.
Ok I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good luck this morning on your weigh in.

I LOVE pomegranates. I keep looking for them in the stores but have only seen small ones. I buy them by the box at Costco. I can't clean them fast enough for my family. We eat the kernels like candy!

Have a great day my friend. Oh, how was the new grapefruit?

It was raining when we came out of the grocery store. I jumped into the car and Jason loaded all the groceries. A little bit later we went to Wal-Mart and it was misting. We came out and it was pouring. I guess I'd rather have rain than snow!

Let me know how the pomegranate tastes. I didn't want to buy one until I heard the verdict from you. emoticon
