My day started out with a wonderful email from spark. They told me I had been voted as a spark motivator.Wow. What an honor.I feel so special. It is a great feeling to know that I am being a help to my spark family. As you know I am fighting my Food Demon every day.Lately I have been winning but could not do it without the motivation you all give me.Thank you so much for this honor.

I also found out something else pretty special last night. I have been getting a lot of comments the past week from people who saw my 1st kitchen video. I was a little curious as why since I posted it back in July. I have a link to where all video's can be viewed and I noticed last night that you could view 2 ways.Recent and most popular.For funsies I clicked popular and there I was on front page and it said 379 people had looked at it.Another Wow.
So needless to say I feel very special today.

And I have more good news. My Food Demon stayed chained real good yesterday

We still have very warm temps but will cool off for a few days.We are in hi 80's and low 90's now.It will go into 50's and 60's for a few days starting tomorrow. But back up by weekend.

Today is a nice quiet day.Not much going on. I have a table behind me that is filling up with papers .I keep saying I will go thru it.Maybe that will be a good project for later. I did get Bill to clear off the table in other room.He wanted to put some Halloween decorations up. He is not crazy about Halloween but he likes a few decorations.

Halloween is not really a big deal over here which is a shame. I usually close the curtains and hide as the "kids" that come round often don't even have costumes on but may have masks. Thing is, they swap masks and keep coming back. First year I was here I got in loads of naughties and they were knocking every five minutes and not a real kid amongst them.

Food Demon won another one.

Monday, September 28, 2009

Will start with bad news. My Food Demon not only got loose from his chains he hid them for a while last night. I think maybe it was because I was so tired yesterday. But not to worry.He may have beat me yesterday but he is tied up extra tight with his chain today.

But I am still way in the lead.He will never catch me.
I have gotten into a bad habit of not going to bed til 1 or 2 and I need to change that.But I know "they" say you can't catch up on sleep but I tried.I slept off and on from 2 til noon today. Got up for some potty trips and to take some meds but I tried to catch up. Do feel a lot better today. Sleep is so important.
I have been getting a lot of comments on my 1st kitchen video blog from July. It was nice to know my corny video was helping someone.
Altho my Food DEmon whipped butt last night I am in a good mood and know I chained him tighter this time.
I spend so much time on this computer. I am always behind.I have been on here for 2 hours and I still have 25 emails to answer plus post on my teams. BUT I love it. All those emails with comments and encouragement is what is helping me to defeat my Demon.Plus my hard work. No denying it is work.

    It's OK that the Food Demon won. You can't be perfect ALL the time, just most of the time. emoticon You're still doing great!

I was in bed by 9:30 last night. I was hoping for a good night sleep but I kept waking up because of the wind. We had 20-30+ mile per hour wind gusts. I have trouble staying up past 11PM on the weekends. You're a night owl!

I feel like poop today but hopefully I will feel better.Did not sleep well at all.Joint pain kept me awake most of night.Bill was quiet tho.
Ok Enough whining.It doesn't do any good anyway.

I whipped the Food Demon again

My brain is in a fog and I am trying to remember what I wanted to say. emoticon

I decided to take Bill out for supper and I was very proud of myself. We found a new place called J.C.Cravers Bar & Grill. I had so much trouble at first trying to find something that I could figure calories out. I have read the tip about ordering from children's menu but usually there is nothing good there or restaurant won't let you order. But this one had a grilled chicken and 3 shrimp so I asked if I could order. The girl said she didn't really know but that she would let me anyway. Then they didn't have any low cal dressings for salad so I asked if they had any salsa in kitchen.Cook was nice enough to say he would find me some.So she brought me about 2 tablespoons of home made salsa that I dumped in my salad. Then ***** You are going to love this. I had taken my little scale in and I weighed my meal.I did take about 6 of Bill's fries and I weighed them too. There was about 1/2 cup of rice which was messy on my scale.I need to get some of those little wipes you get at restaurants to keep with scale to clean tray off. Bill got one with his meal and I took it.Told him he could go wash his hands. He was such a good sport about me weighing my food in public.He is so funny.My entire meal was 530 calories which was great.

If I start to feel better we are going up to Publix and I am going to check out Audra's soy chips.Plus they have a lot of stuff Winn Dixie doesn't so I want to look around and see what I can find that is high volume and low calorie.
Ok my friends.My brain just doesn't want to work well.Maybe a nap will revive me.

We did check out that stupid plant at causeway and it still hasn't bloomed.It is leaning more but hasn't fell over yet.

i am not sure if I posted this or not.This is where I worked for 21 years.The tall stack with tall building near it.

Great job on dinner! I think it's great that you bring a scale with you. I never thought about it, but wipes are a must have when weighing food on the go. 530 calories is great for restaurant eating.

If this doesn't play at first just come back later.If when you play this you get sound from other videos go up above where it says view in summary form.Then pick it out there and you should only have 1 sound.
I never have enough time and usually repeat myself but hope you get something out of it. I do mark the calories on the bags of soup before storing them either in fridge or freezer. I always hate how awful I look but I am what I am. Fat belly and fat arms. But they will get much smaller.

PS I bagged the soup and had 24 cups.Each cup is 43 calories.So with an extra cup of broth when I eat it each bowl of soup will be 101 calories for almost 3 cups of soup. I put 2 cups per bag

    I enjoyed this Vlog, I really think the idea of using celery for the "crunch" is a great idea. I love onions and I tend to eat way too much on sandwiches, I think the celery could possibly give me what I am looking for with out the over powering breath.
Since fall is here, my family and I eat a lot of soup and crock pot meals. I think I'll try making a bulk batch and saving some in the freezer for later. I like the idea of knowing the nutritional numbers before hand, the convenience of grab and heat, as well as knowing what went into it was good ingredients.
Once again great blog and I am looking through all your other blogs because they are well written and I enjoy your very honest and warm personality.

  Awesome tips! I am a health coach and teach people ways to make small lifestyle changes. This was a great idea. This might be a stupid question, but how do you reheat the soup in the bags!? And please stop writing negative things about your body. That kills me! You look great and do not put yourself down!

    I just watched your measuring v-blog from July and now this one - they are both GREAT! I've gotten lazy with cooking over the summer (my apt is not air conditioned) and haven't gotten back to cooking. But you've inspired me to get back at it! My new job even has a refrig. & freezer in the break room, so I can leave a couple of bags of frozen soup in there for lunches instead of keeping high-sodium cans of soup in my desk.

Thanks for taking the time to do the videos - I really think they are super!

  Hi, just watched your soup video and I love your ideas for bagging and freezing soup. I just made a big pot of fat burning soup - I haven't calculated the calories yet. It is lipton soup mix; 4 cans of stewed tomatoes; 4 cans of water; head of cabbage; green beans-frozen; 2 cups ea of carrots; celery; green peppers and onions. Love this soup! This is a recipe that was designed for overweight people along with the diet of different foods for a week for those that have to drop weight fast before a surgery. I also add a little cayenne; garlic and red pepper seasoning to give it a little kick to burn off more. You can add chicken broth or meat; different types of beans but than you add more calories. For a vegetable soup that you want a little protein but low calories heat your soup up and beat an egg up than drop the egg in the soup while it is on a gentle boil and stir. The egg will cook and you will have a variation of egg drop soup with vegetables. Keep on with your videos!

    I love it, so informative. My husband asked if I was watching a cooking show and I told him yes. emoticon What kind of wraps do you buy? I love having wraps but the tortillas I buy have too many calories. Do you find them in the Mexican aisle or somewhere else?

In the winter I make chicken noodle soup. Last year I started using wheat pasta and instead of using all broth, I use less broth and add water. My family eats it up, even my son (he's a real picky eater).

By the way, I have the same red Coca Cola cups. I love them!!

I hate the way I look on camera as well. I am learning to love myself. I know that in time I won't be as big.

I have to know, what did the plant look like? Never mind, I just read your post to me. I'm a little bummed.

Well it is soup making day. I may make a video in kitchen later. Maybe

Today was my weigh in day and I lost .6#. Not a lot but I am very happy with it. I am still trying to get my fluid back under control.ALmost there.Next week should be a better loss. I would like to lose the weight yesterday but that is not happening.So I will be very grateful for slow and sure.
I did very good beating Food Demon last night.. I guess he was too tired from the grocery store to mess with me much last night. emoticon

I was able to sleep better again last night.Bill has done so much better at snoring since he raised the head of his side of bed a little.I already raised mine. But painful joints did wake me a few times.But was able to get back to sleep.

It is a beautiful sunny day. Bill has no plans this weekend so I need to get my butt out of house.Maybe we will go check the plant out that refuses to bloom at causeway.

    A loss is a loss and I think it's GREAT! Slow and steady wins the race. You're learning to eat healthy so you can maintain the weight loss. The Food Demon doesn't have a chance!

Sounds like your new bed is helping both of you. I'm glad to hear you were able to fall back asleep again.

I'm curious to see that plant again. It looked like it was going to fall over last time. Enjoy the sunshine! It's a cloudy fall day here. Depending on what's going on with the kids I may step out for a walk.

I am so proud of you! 6# is a lot when you consider you are going in the right direction! I average about a pound a week is all but I remember that slow and steady wins the race!
