Need to get this done as day is slipping by. Sorry I have been such a poop head as Bill calls it.I will try to do better. You are some smart gals to pick up on it real quick.
The tree people are suppose to be here for sure today.I figure if I lay down for a nap they will show up.LOL
Had to go give my son a ride to pick his car up at repair shop.It was good to see him doing much better. He looked better and sounded better. I also got a good laugh at my grandsons hair cut.I am always teasing him about hair bows but can't do that now. Here is Ben Jr with summer cut. He was so cute I couldn't help but smile.
Once I got Ben we went to Angels as I had a care package for her.You Mom's all know what that is.Dug out some frozen soup and other things easy to fix.Her boyfriend is there to help over the weekend. I teased him about taking her for a weekend with kids on river and now she can't walk.He wasn't to sure if I was teasing or not.Let him wonder.LOL
Angel looks tired and like she has lost some weight but she will make it.She is tough like her Mom.
I couldn't believe how big the sunflower plant is that I gave her.I will show you a front and back view of it.It started out as a couple of cuttings maybe 1 foot high
Here is front
And this is back view of same plant or tree that it has become These things grow like crazy. This is what sunflower looks like
Bill is in Orlando but will be home around 4 or so.
Nothing new going on. Same as usual. It does seem to be hotter sooner this year. The heat is unbearable.
Have a great weekend. emoticon emoticon

WOW, that sunflower bush is huge!! Do you just trim it down?

My Alex wanted to get a hair cut like your grandson's. I'm not so sure it's going to happen. We'll see how much of a fit he pitches!

Our weather has been cooler than normal for this time of year. We had the horrible storms that came through on Friday and it brought HOT weather. Yesterday was my daughter's party and it was 90 degrees outside and the humidity was 62%. It was nasty! Thank goodness for air conditioning!

I hope you're feeling better and Angel gets back on her feet soon!

WOW! I did not know how sunflower looks like. In my dictionary it is different flower, it is flower we use to get oil. The bush is huge. What are going to do with it next Summer.

I like the hear cut. It is really cute. When my sons were boys I sent them to hear cut. They just got from Summer camp and their hear were long. When they got back I saw young boy and did not see older one. Where is your brother? Then I saw older boy. Bold. No hear at all. Just bold. When he left home his curly hear touched his back. Now he was bold.

Kids are cute.Your boy is very sweet. This hear cut is good for him. I love it.

The sunflower bush looks great. It is a perennial - right?

Good to hear that Angel has some help.

Your grandson looks great in that new cut. It must be the thing. When I was in ER yesterday with our Grandson, I saw another boy with a mohawk cut.

Take care and enjoy your day. It is quiet around here today after the severe weather we had yesterday. Most of the damage occurred across the river in Illinois. I was in Quincy this morning and there are downed trees everywhere.

Hot Friday

Friday, June 19, 2009

I haven't disappeared.I just wasn't in the mood to blog yesterday so I didn't.
Bill left early this morning to have his stress test.I had planned on going with him but when he said for the 3rd time he could go by himself I said fine.Go by yourself. So he was up early and I slept in as usual. He should be home around noon.
I had someone come out and look at my big tree in front to see what it would cost to trim and take out all dead limbs before hurricane season.Got permission from neighbor to cut some dead limbs off their tree that hangs in my yard. Got a really good price so they will be coming tomorrow to get that done. They were suppose to come today but she called and said they were running behind on a big job they re working on. As long as they don't come real early I am fine with tomorrow.
Bill is going over to Orland with a buddy to do some work on his daughters house. He will be back home in the afternoon.I would have liked to go so I could spend time with grandson but it is too much traveling for me in one day.
My blood work came back and my potassium is low again as well as magnesium.Heart doc has me taking magnesium for a week and then we will check it again. This is a big problem.I take tons of potassium and eats lots of food high in potassium. It is a problem caused by diuretics I take.Just an ongoing problem that goes with congestive heart failure. I also saw doc that put my defib in and the swelling at site is a hemotobim(sp) When he took old one out he had to make a new pocket for new one and there was a lot of bleeding said the same thing his nurse said.Probably would take a couple of months for swelling to go down.
Angel still can't walk and still hasn't been to ortho doc. When you are struggling to make ends meet and have no insurance getting hurt is a big disaster. I can't afford to pay for her to go.She has paperwork for medicaid but hasn't got it filled out yet. Nothing I can do.
I am stressed, depressed a little or just have a bad attitude and not eating so great. I am trying to eat less and am doing better but no where where I should be. Bill keeps asking me what is wrong as I am quieter than usual.I just tell him I have a lot on my mind which is true.My brain is on overload between myself, him and kids and life in general.
Oh well.Sh-t happens.
I drove out to causeway to check the plant I have been watching for weeks and weeks.I don't know if it partly bloomed and they blew away or if this is way it looks. The picture I saw had actual blooms on it.

This one was one week ago

this was yesterday Notice where the lower buds are now raggedy stringy looking and top is still well formed buds.
I will go back tomorrow and see what it looks like.Very disappointed as I was expecting pretty blooms
Ok enough rambling for me.Need to go fertilize my plants

Eleni, you are really having a time of it. Our older dd doesn't have insurance either and I know how that really bothers me. She has a lot of kidney and female problems. It is hard to not worry but we can only do so much. Take care of you, prayers go out to all of you. ((((HUGS))) Linda Kay

Do you know what that unusual plant is? The leaves look like Yucca, but the blooms are not Yucca. Very odd.

Sorry about all your stress and about all you can do is take a deep breath and keep going.

Tuesday

Yesterday was good most of the day.Around supper time I get a call from Angel saying she is at hospital and they are keeping her. They thought she had a blood clot in her calf. Thankfull I have a great step daughter who was at Angel's side 10 minutes after I asked her to go check on her. Luckily after the x-rays they found it was a clot but just under the skin and not dangerous.Basically extreme bruising. They released her with some meds and have her set up to see ortho doc for knee. She hasn't been able to walk for over a week now due to fall she had at river. It never ends.I did have to give Brianna a good talking to about helping her Mom. I told her to pretend I was looking over her shoulder and she better behave.Last thing Angel needs is a smart mouth teenager.Brianna is a perfect child here but like all teenagers she lives to make her mother meserable.
I am much better with eating the last couple of days.I am working on getting better.I make up veggies to snack on doing the day and working on night eating.
I did get another small tomato from my cherry tomato plant and have 3 ready to eat tonight.
I am struggling to get back on track. It feels like I am constantly hungry which I can't be.So I am doing the best I can each day.
I now have a standing order to have my potassium checked each month so we can keep a closer check on it.
My ICD site is till very swollen.Doesn't hurt.Just looks wierd. Will see that doc on Thursday.
Bill is doing great.I tease him about that being an expensive drink of water. He does get a stress test on Friday.
Nothing else new.

Did you accuse Bill of being a "expensive drink of water"? That is just too funny.

Take care! Tomorrow is my annual exam with my pulmonologist and I may have to have a heart cath. Not happy about that but will do it if he thinks I need too.

God Bless you real good, Eleni. Sunny

I hope everything with Angel turns out well. Did the clot have anything to do with the fall?

Like you I am feeling hungry all the time. For me, I'm not eating the foods that fill me up. Lately all I want is garbage food. It's a constant struggle, isn't it?

Blood clots are so scary. I'm glad she is alright and does not have to stay in the hospital.

I completely understand, as I know how hard it can be if one always feels hungry. They say the feeling will stop after 20 minutes but some days I wonder.

Hope everything comes out fine for you in Thursday.

God bless,

Another Good Day

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Yesterday was a good day.Met some old friends for lunch. It has been 2 years or more since I saw two of them. The other two have come to see me at my house. The lady sitting on my left with dark hair is going to have the lap band done.
Bill and I also checked out the plant at causeway and it still isn't blooming.
On way home this guy was on side of road. There were several all along the way here and there.
Today I was pleasantly surprised to see 4 of my cherry tomatoes turning red.
We had lunch and then I got my nails done. After that it was to Walmart.I sat in car while Bill went in and got us a new vacuum cleaner. Then it was home for a nap and fix dinner. I fixed a bunch of fresh veggies in oven.Even cut a tomato in half and did it too. I usually steam them but I think I like them better this way.Just filled pan with cauliflower, broccoli, sliced carrots, sliced squash, sliced onion.Sprayed with olive oil pam. Then sprinkled greek seasonings on top and into the oven they went.Just before I took them out I did put some parmesan cheese on the tomato.Baked it at 525 for about 20 minutes and they tasted great. I did squirt a little butter spray on them after I took them out.
That's it.Just a quiet day.Hope you all had a good weekend.

Getting back to normal

Friday, June 12, 2009

Hubby is home and doing great. He has even gone into work for awhile today. He has worked in the heat for many years and knows to drink plenty of fluid which he does do. But it was a combo of heat, the fact he takes a blood pressure med with a diuretic, and he has a normally low heart rate that may have dipped. A bag of glucose and he was fine. But they kept him over night to be sure and did several blood test. Have also put him on different blood pressure med.He is going for a stress test next friday. We are going to pick up an insulated bag so he can keep cool water with him all the time. He normally is not out in hot long.
All the walking I had to do put a real hurting on my knees. Will take a day or two for them to recover. I saw the doc yesterday myself and we are going to start checking my potassium and magnesium once a month now.I am now his star patient for taking potassium now take 17 horse pills a day. You would think I could be known for something better than that. I am going to try taking lipitor every other day and see if that will still keep cholesterol down and help leg muscle pain.Yea.I don't just have bone pain the muscles wanted equal time. We discussed the fact that taking advil is not good for some of my other meds but even it only helps a little.I told him I am between a rock and a hard place and he agreed. He said he would rather I be as mobile as I can be and we will work around effects on other meds. He really is a wonderful doctor but only so much he can do. I so desperately need to lose some weight.
And I have a lot of stress coming from worrying about grown children who have some serious problems and you don't stopping worrying because they are grown.
But thats life.Just have to deal with it.I usually do.
On a brighter side.I got my first ripe cherry tomato and just ate it.It was good. It is so hot we are going to have to water just about every day. Bill counted and I have 30 more little tomatoes on that bush. I have another plant that has a little larger tomatoes and it has probably over a dozen on it.The only plant that has full size tomatoes is still growing but no blooms yet.

The last of the plants have arrived. One is suppose to attract butterfies. Will get all of them in pots soon and then put the butterfly one by back fence where I can see it. My strawberry plants are growing so fast. How cool is that. And the exotic cuttings are all getting leaves. So my container gardening is going well.
Thank you to all the well wishes, prayers and good wishes from all of you. It was very sweet and appreciated. You are all such great people. You are very precious to me and I am blessed to have found you.Or have you find me.
I did have a funny thing happen. When Dom (our doc's right hand man) saw my defib and how swollen the area was.He told me I looked like I had a 3rd boob.I told him it was my perky one.He offered to draw a nipple on it with marker. Ok I guess you had to be there. But it was funny to Bill and I.
But Bill is good as new and I am getting better.Eating is a joke but I haven't given up.

Hi Elina, Sorry to hear about all the troubles. At least the tomato looked good. I'm glad Bill is better and maybe you will be feeling better soon also. I can understand your being tired. I'm kinda there with you. I drove over 3,000 miles to Omaha and back. I haven't fully recovered from that yet. Got home and my mom had fell and is bruised up, may have a broken rib but refuses to go to the doctor. At 87 she pretty well does as she pleases. Well I thought I would check in but I've got to sign off. Be talking to you again soon.

What happened to Bill sounds a lot like what happened to me. I too have worked in the heat for years and know how to handle it. But, maybe my doc is right. You reach a point where you're just too old to tolerate it well anymore.

Anyway, so glad he is better.

And don't worry about your eating until the big stressors of your life have passed. But do exercise if you can. That can actually help to reduce the stress levels!
