Crappy Crappy Day

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Bill and I had a terrible time sleeping last night. Both were worried about our gand daughter and her mother. Got up early and eating is terrible.
Things are better for GD today and she received her financial aid for school today so she is in a better mood. Her homelife is terrible and nothing we can do.I can't say anything to her mom as she will take it out on her. She knows she can come her or call her GP to come get her at anytime. I am thru asking my daughter anything or commenting on what she is doing. She just lies to me anyway and I am tired of it.
I did have a treat today. It did not stop but had a small hummingbird fly by window. I took some pics of butterfly solar last night. Only blue turned out good. But it changes colors. Kinda like those boxed lights years ago that changed colors.
First is what it looks like in day time.

Sorry to hear about the problems your daughter is causing your granddaughter. Hope everything works out for your GD and things improve for her once school begins. Today sounds like a good day for a nice long nap.

  Hi Eleni........
I remember my Mom telling me that once you have a child, no matter how old either of you are, you will ALWAYS worry about them. Then they have kids, and we get to worry about our grand-kids. It just NEVER ends!!!!! I am so tired of stress!!!!! Our youngest son has ADHD and was diagnosed at age 8. He is now 35 and his problems are still there........only on a bigger scale. My thoughts are definitely with you as I know how bad it can get. Just take care of yourself.
I LOVE your butterfly. I will have to keep my eye out for one at the garden centers near us.
I hope tomorrow is better for you.

  Hi Eleni.........
I heard from our son today that Elizabeth broke both of the bones in her lower arm. One is a greenstick fracture and the other a complete break. The doctor thought surgery might be needed at first, but on further testing, that was not the case. Thank goodness!!!!! She has a cast that will be on for about a month. Good thing her swimming lessons were in June. The reason that my son and I were both so upset is that the older cousin who was riding along side Elizabeth has hurt her purposely in the past and we strongly suspect that this was NOT an accident.
I hope that your nap was a good one.
Later........

New Visitor to Back Yard

Monday, July 23, 2012

I know it isn't morning but I liked this

As most of you know most of my pictures are taken right here in this chair thru a window. This time of day it is hard to get a clear picture plus it is overcast with dark clouds. It took me a second or two to realize what I was seeing. Almost fell out of chair grabbing camera. Then my batteries went out. He is all puffed up trying to dry off. But long red tail is what made me realize what I was looking at. A very young red tailed hawk. I have an adult one that shows up from time to time but first young one.Very cool.

I took him preening himself as long tail shows good

So that was my excitement for the day. Have spent most of day in bed. Just one of those days. I don't have to cook supper as Bill is bowling tonight and he will get something on his way there.

Your pictures are really neat. All the red tailed hawks I have ever seen are not that close. I've heard them though, screeling as they fly through the trees.

We have a young Blue Jay drinking out of a water dish we left out for the outdoor cats. I think it may be somewhat damaged because it was in the water dish this morning with it's feathers all puffed up. Just now it tried to fly into the window of the office with our Missy cat on the other side. Now exactly the smart move.

  Hi Eleni.......
I have seen many adult Red-Tail Hawks in our back yard, but never a young one. You were lucky.
When I was at the kitchen sink about 6 PM yesterday, I looked out into the field behind us and thought I saw a pretty large buck. I grabbed Ken's binoculars and I was shaking so hard, I couldn't get him into good focus. The reason I was shaking, was that his antlers looked so big that I couldn't believe it. I called Ken in from the garage and he didn't really look too excited, until he focussed. He said it was the biggest buck he has ever seen in our area. I guess he will run the next time I yell BUCK!!! This is just one of the reasons I love living in the country.
Later............P.

Soup Day

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Just had another short rain storm go thru.
Lucky Bill and Roxy sleeping. I laid down but kept thinking about big pot of soup that need to be bagged so I got up. I ended up with 50 cups of soup which I was hoping to get. I liked the bean soup I made last week but wanted less calories per 2 cup bag. This time I just added 3 cans of beans to my normal veggie and it is more than I usually have in calories but less than the bean. The bean was 132 per bag and this is 108 per bag. I know each bag is not exact 108 but average is so that is what number I will use.

My bee balm pot loves this rain. The other pot should bloom soon.

Bill's ginger is starting to turn red. have no idea why it changes color

My big momma orchid that I split into 3 pots had limbs for orchids coming out all over . The 3rd pot doesn't but it is still looking ok.
Due to bad eating for a couple of days i did not lose my gain. But did release 2#. I will have the rest gone next week and maybe more.
Ok Time to start supper.Hope you had a good weekend

Your pot of soup looks delicious! Do you know how many grams of sodium are in each cup? I'm always curious about that, especially with soups.
That's what's so good about making your own is that you can control the sodium amount better.

Another New Day

Saturday, July 21, 2012

My eating last night was the worse in a long time. Threw out rest of what I was stuffing myself on. Back on track for now. I wish this wasn't so hard. I will still lose some of what I gained but not sure how bad last night will hurt me. it had a lot of salt in it.
I always have fresh lemons so decided to make a bottle of lemonade for lunch. It was good. I do it all the time when we go out.
Bill is getting groceries today. Always interesting to see what he brings home.
here is old big bulky Tv and new one.New one was only $300. We needed a shelf to put TV on. Check out what Bill used to hold up shelf. This way the dvd is out where we can keep door underneath closed.

new rose bloom.Picture of two show one from the other day on right

  Hi Eleni........
Isn't it amazing how thin the new computer screens and TV screens are now. They are so much easier to place and take care of.
I have been putting the juice of one lemon in 2 cups of water and drinking it at least once a day and sometimes twice. It is supposed to be good for the liver and a friend of mine who is into holistic medicine said that lemons are good for all of our organs.
Elizabeth leaves for Minnesota tomorrow for 2 weeks.........Ken and I are going to go into withdrawal!!!!!
Take care, my friend. If you need more Cleome seeds, let me know.
