Busy Saturday Sorta

Saturday, June 09, 2012

Bill got all the soup stuff out last night so I got up early(early for me) and got soup going. Then I stood up to go into living room and picked up my glass of orange juice. Glass and orange juice all over kitchen. I just dropped the stupid thing. Thankfully Bill was home. I went to living room thru back room.He brought me more orange juice and cleaned up the mess.
While soup was simmering he brought me all my spice jars to do inventory.Made sure ones I use all the time were full and checked to see what I need to make my special spice. Found 5 jars I don't use so I will give them to Angel.
Bill is putting new flooring in computer room.It was cement and he is laying down some stick on tile.
Bill has room are tore up so I decided to try and load pictures on this computer. I did it but need to learn program. But it was a lot easier to trim.
Now we will see if I can put them on here.
Here is the rose that was just a buds yesterday

This is cleomes from seeds patti sent me

My double cone flower and others

And can you believe the same orchids are still in bloom.

And this is just different parts of a tree but to me it looks like a monkey. What do you think?

Ok My weigh in is so bad I refuse to track it as I know most of it is water.I just can't face it.

That absolutely looks like a monkey in the tree. You have a great eye to hone in on that! Happy your soup duty is complete. I've been having healthy dinner salads each evening..they are great...but the chop, chop chopping can get tedious. I need a set of really good knives. I recently bought a Gordon Ramsey and am HIGHLY unhappy with it. I hate it when celebrity chefs just slap their names on inferior items and make big bucks in the process. Gordon should be hanging his head in shame! emoticon

On the bright side we got a FAB set of copper cookware into the consignment gallery. A six piece set from Williams Sonoma. I've always wanted copper pots due to their superior conductivity in cooking. But the price always sent me reeling! emoticon Some of the pans can cost as much as $350 each. When I researched the pricing on this set (they still have them through Williams and Sonoma) I almost passed out...over $1200. I know that no one is going to spend the $480 they are worth in todays market. Most items consign for about 40% of retail if in superior shape.

Soooo I talked the hubs into letting me buy the set which I picked up for a song only having to pay the consignee on our 50/50 split. The chance for me to pick up this quality of cookware for only about $240 is unheard of.

Yes...consignment DOES have a few perks here and there...indeed it does! emoticon

I can't see a monket or a bear emoticon. It looks like a bat to me lol.
Don't let the scale get you down especially if you know it is water. Keep on eating healthy and get in some exercise. That is what matters. emoticon
I was shocked to hear you stood up and walked to the living room. Do you walk much or was this a try you havn't done before? Just becareful, i would not want to hear you fell or hurt yourself.

Those flowers are just beautiful!

  Hi Eleni..........
Your ears should have rung today because around noon our time, I was having lunch and looking out of our sitting window, when a Hummingbird hovered near our stain glass hanging decoration and just stayed there for more than a minute. He was drawn by the bright red glass and was frustrated not to be able to get to it. I told Ken that you would have taken at least a dozen pictures of him. Such beauty in such a little bird!!!
Your Orchids are unbelievable!!!!! So healthy and so perfect. I repotted the 2 slips from you and they are alive, but just don't seem to take off. I put them in our back bathroom where they get very little light.
We are having our oldest son's inlaws over for a brunch tomorrow morning at 11, so I had better get busy and finish cutting some fruit for a platter. I am still not feeling 100%, but they know this and have told me not to fuss and that they would help.
Have a great Sunday.

  Hi Eleni........
Whenever you tell us about your soup-day, it makes me hungry for it. Maybe it is what I need to give this respiratory thing the final push out of my system!!!

Your Cleome look great........ready to bloom already. Because they self-seed, I have literally MILLIONS of them in 3 areas of my gardens. I will send you pictures when they start to bloom. I thinned them out once, but need to do that at least one more time if not more.

We are having my DIL's parents over for a brunch on Sunday. If I feel like I do today, Ken will be doing most of the work.

Have a great weekend.

Rainy Thursday

Thursday, June 07, 2012

I finally got my hair cut. We did get wet when we were going back to car. But we always need rain here.
I have not done as good this week with eating this week. The best I can hope for is no gain.
My friend Debbie put this on facebook today and it is so good I had to share it with all of you.

Why do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character? How can I get along with all of them? I think, that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me.

With one of them I am polite. I joke with another friend. I sit down and talk about serious matters with one. With another I laugh a lot. I may have a drink with one. I listen to one friend's problems. Then I listen to another one's advice for me.

My friends are all like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When completed, they form a treasure box. A treasure of friends! They are my friends who understand me better than myself, who support me through good days and bad days. We all pray together and for each other.

Real Age doctors tell us that friends are good for our health. Dr. Oz calls them Vitamin F (for Friends) and counts the benefits of friends as essential to our well being. Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes. If you enjoy Vitamin F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age. The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your most intense moments it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%. I'm so happy that I have a stock of Vitamin F!

In summary, we should value our friends and keep in touch with them. We should try to see the funny side of things and laugh together, and pray for each other in the tough moments.

Thank you for being one of my Vitamins!

I know it isn't morning but I like this so just pretend it is morning

I know you have heard it before but my Bill is the best. He does so much for me and puts up with my grumpy moods when I don't feel good.He brought me these yesterday for no reason other than he thought I would like them

This is the plumaria. The old flowers are gone but new ones are coming.

Back to Bill. I called to tell him earlier that it was every man for himself and he say ok. No problem. Then I called him when I got up from my second nap to bring me a subway sub.Again ok No problem. I will bring you anything you want.
I am always telling people that my grand children are my reward for surviving their parents.Well Bill is my reward for surviving my first husband.Even at his worse he is still better than most men.
I am so aggravated with the soap "General Hospital"Another baby swap story line.I hope they don't drag it out.Ok have a good night.

  Hi Eleni.........
You and Bill are an inspiration. I have been very lucky in that Ken has been a wonderful husband from the start. Tomorrow is our 44th wedding anniversary and we are still going strong. Unfortunately, not many couples can say that.

I went to the Dr. and he gave me a great antibiotic. I still felt rotten this morning, but, after a nap this afternoon, I think I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I don't remember the last time I was this completely exhausted.

It is wonderful to hear a wife speak so highly of her husband! From all I've read and seen on here, he certainly is a "keeper"! You're fortunate Eleni! Rolly is my second husband too and can't begin to compare him to my first . . . first one was just awful!!
I feel fortunate too, having my second one who is so good!

I'm watching L.A hockey game, I'm hoping they win the Stanley Cup tonight, yay!!

Brianna came today to clean. She was hiding her face with mail when I went to let her in.This is why. emoticon

Of course I gave her a little trash talk. She is such a sweetheart. She actually does more than her mother . Plus if she sees kitchen is messy she takes care of it without me asking.
Next is Felicia and then Heidi,Scott,Landon

And misc

The snake is back. A mocking bird chased it across yard. Once it was in grass couldn't see it but mocking bird did.
I am not doing as good as i was. I slacked off listening to my tape. I will no longer say I lost weight again.I want to get use to saying I released the weight. My friend tells me when we say we lost something it is like saying it is something we can find again. So I want to say released from now on.

  Hi Eleni.........
Brianna and Felicia are such beautiful girls. I think that BOTH of them could model.

Our computer service shut down completely last night. I think that it might have been because of the election. I don't think they could keep up.

I ended up at the Dr.'s office this afternoon. I thought that I was finally getting over this respiratory infection I have had for a little over a week. I felt pretty good yesterday, so I washed all of the windows in the house inside and out. When I finally sat down to watch the election results last night, my nose started running again, my throat was sore, and I ended up coughing all night. The Dr. said that I did too much too soon and put me on Azithromycin. Hopefully it will do the job. I am so tired right now that I hope I am making sense.

I hate studs on the tongue, in the nose, eyebrows and face. A belly button ring is okay. And the different color hairs I love. If I was young I would do purple or blue.
