Weigh in Day and Soup Making Day

Saturday, May 19, 2012

I know that any day we don't have a gain is a good day but I was a little disappointed in 1#.I was expecting 2 or 3. I know I only had one really bad day and that shouldn't have hurt when all the other days were good.
Oh well.It is a new week starting.
Today was my low calorie soup making day. Bill has started helping and it makes it easier. I have a list of can stuff and he gets all of it and my big pot down.He puts all the cans on counter so I have them. Today he even got all the spices down and back up that I use.Which is about all my spices. Then once it is cooled he helps bag it. I put bag in my cup and put 2 cups of soup in it and then I hold cup while he takes bag out and closes it good.Cuts the time way down.
We both took 2 naps today. We took a nap at 11 am and then at 4. Feels good when I lay down but crappy when I first get up.
They are having Abigail's birthday party at the beach today. I don't go to any of them anymore .Too many rugrats with snoddy noses or else too hot outside.
Time to fix supper. I think I will open a can of beans and make a baked sweet potato

  Hi Eleni........
emoticon on the pound down. That is the right direction.
Ken and I often do projects together like your soup day. It does make everything go so much smoother and we aren't exhausted like we would be with a one-person job.

Tomorrow I will be Grandma again. Karissa will have a C-section at 9:45 AM. We will bring Elizabeth to meet her new sister whenever we get the go-ahead. We are VERY excited!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to dear little Abigail. I loved her Miss-Priss picture from Friday. Take care and have a good Sunday.

My weight is usually a disappointment. Up a pound, down a pound.. You are doing good. Don't give up. there are 52 weeks in a year.. You will lose more than that..

Actually got a few things done today.
Pinned up two new dresses I got from Blair. They were way too long. Will sew it tomorrow.
Finally got big momma taken apart. But as often happens to couples. What I told Bill and what he heard was too different things. He didn't get any potting soil just orchid soil and I use both . so why I was taking it apart he went to get potting soil and came back with a small bag.I needed a big bag. Just barely had enough.Actually didn't have as much as I needed. It was not easy splitting the plant. But both big pieces have plenty of root and should do well.
Here is before I took it apart.

Here is after. The two biggest pots are big momma and small one at end is pieces of her. The small one fell over and Bill stuck it temporarily in an old pot of dirt. I need more soil for a few other plants so he will get me more tomorrow. The one with red flower is from Rebekah for Mothers day.

Nosy Roxy

Roxy posed for Bill

Misc pics
The coneflower may still get a bloom on top

And another of GD Alyssa and GS Landon. And then Miss Priss my GGD Abigail

I have done better with eating today.I should have no problem having a loss tomorrow.Hope you had a good day

Wow...that WAS a task taking Big Momma apart. But look how beautiful she is now in several new pots! You DO have the green thumb thats for sure. I always LOVE your pictures and your updates! Roxy's face says LOVE in the purest sense. And the babies are all just too adorable! Have a beautiful summer my dear friend! emoticon

Look at Roxy's tail going as Bill takes her picture. She sure looks like she adores him. Big Momma is quite a plant. I had to get rid of all my plants years ago as the cats thought they were for them and chewed on the plants and dug in the dirt! Abigail is such a cutie and she knows it. Look at that pose.

  Hi Eleni.........
I couldn't reply to your blog yesterday because our Internet Service was out most of the afternoon and all of the evening.
I just called Ken in to look at Big Momma. He said that our orchids really look sick and puny in comparison.........like I needed to hear that!!! I wish I could drive down and get one of the smaller pieces of Big Momma, but with the new baby coming, we won't be going anywhere this summer.
We took a fish supper (Ken caught several Walleye on Thursday) over to Jason, Karissa, and Elizabeth Friday night and then went for a pontoon ride afterward. It was a beautiful night. No bugs and cool.......
Take care and emoticon on how well you are doing. I am proud of you!!!

I didn't know you named your plants. If we start naming all the trees and vines I won't be able to remember them all - it's bad enough naming the dogs, and we only have two.

What is that little critter that I see a photo of? Is it common there?

Roxy is a beautiful dog, it's great that she'll pose for Bill! She looks like a smart dog too.

I'm glad you had a good day with your calories too and you'll probably see the scale has gone down tomorrow! Hooray!

Thursday

Thursday, May 17, 2012

Well I did not use my better judgement and it will be tight with calories. It was so stupid of me.Thursday is Domino's night for Bill. I have not been getting anything but decided to get a small thin crust too.Well that is 800 calories. I could have eaten a whole lot more food that that thin pizza. I still have a few calories left but I could have had a lot more. I should have waited and got my 1 slice this weekend. I should still have a loss saturday but it is aggravating to waste calories like I just did. Shame on me.
But tomorrow is a new day. I will not be so stupid again.

A lot of fresh vegetables can fill you up, and your stomach is really full so you feel like you have had something to eat. Also, beans are a bargain. Remember that when you look at the carbos, the fiber is included, so the first thing you do is subtract the fiber. Then, half of the remaining "carbohydrate" is the weird stuff that acts first like once kind of fiber (say soluble because I can't remember which) and later like the other variety. So one thing to do is make sure you get at least a cup of cooked beans every day. Not necessarily from cans, but rinse them if you do use canned beans, and they help.

I can't remember the last time I had a store-bought pizza, but you can make your own, lower calorie variety at home.

Get Bill to quit buying pizzas - (good luck on that).

It's 'water under the bridge' now Eleni. At least you haven't gone over your calories and will eat better next time. With the calories we're allowed, wise choices are necessary ... good food that fills us up is best but ... I'm guilty of doing the same as you did today!! Let it go and do better tomorrow. There's no shame in a flub!

Storm Didn't Last Long

Wednesday, May 16, 2012

But I see more dark clouds coming from the Gulf so we should get more rain.
I am still doing good with calories.Bill brought me a sub for lunch and I cut it in half and saved rest for snack tonight. Had a small cup of soup with the half.
Rebekah and gang came by with a plant and homemade bird feeder house.Don't think bird feeder house will last long outside.
Here are a couple of pictures. Bill helped hold flowers looked so cute I couldn't cut him out of picture.

The coneflower was much pinker today but it should be even brighter, Maybe next one.It is suppose to be a double and it isn't.

getting some new rose buds

This is my desert rose that was almost dead when I moved it to the back patio

The small orchid has completely bloomed. The other 2 orchids are still in bloom

Two more misc. I think I already had one of them

And Landon and his mom Heidi

He needs another haircut
Bill's friday bowling has ended so he will be hanging around for 4 days a week now.He will be bowling Monday night.

  Hi Eleni..........
Your flowers are beautiful (as usual). I would give anything to have a bloom on my 2 year old orchid and I thought it was shooting out a stem, but it might just be a root. I was so excited and now am thinking it will be another year without a bloom. I did get a new leaf though.....
I also bought several annuals today and planted 15 pots when I got home. I have about 6 left that I can finish tomorrow.
I think that you are right about William winning. I don't think there is a woman watching who doesn't want him to take the Mirror Ball Home. I do love Donald though I think that William is the more natural dancer. We shall see......
Good Night.......

The scale is moving again and that feels good.Doing well with calories. Some days are harder than others.
Rebekah,Kayla,Christopher,Felicia and Abigail came back.I didn't take any pictures but Abigail is something else. She actually sat on my lap for a long time.
Roxy gave her some kisses and she would laugh and run away and then go back again. They brought me a plant and some things kids made. The plant is same as red one I have that I like so much. Nice visit.
Brianna came and cleaned today. She told me she found her hamster alive hiding behind her dresser.
Here are some pics of Landon, then Landon and GD Alyssa, then our daughters Heidi and Heather

This is coneflower I showed yesterday but it is starting to turn pink.It will be bright pink in a few days

I'm glad the scale is moving again for you. Mine has been random around a fixed area, but according to this morning I would still be in leeway and below my goal weight if I were still in TOPS.

The pictures are great, as usual. I don't know what happened, but I haven't been getting notices that you have a blog, and haven't seen them for a while. I didn't mention all of the things going on lately, but I think I just missed one some time back and screwed everything up, so I'm glad to see you doing well. Keep up the good work.

  Hi Eleni.........
Your flowers are so beautiful and look so healthy. The Cleome look great. Are you going to put any in the ground or are you sticking to the pots? It might be fun to see how one or two do in the ground. I had so many self-seed where the mother plants were last year that it will take me quite a bit of time to do some thinning. I put soil in 15 pots this afternoon and plan to go to my favorite greenhouse tomorrow for annuals. Our weather seems to be staying in a Spring-mode now, so I am going to plant and feel safe doing so.
I am taping DWTS and also listening to it while on Spark. I am afraid that Donald might not make the cut tonight. Everyone is so GOOD!!! I thought that Katherine might be in trouble after what happened last night but she and Mark are safe. I really feel that Maria has done the best job so far but...........we shall see.
Later...........glad to hear the scale is going in the right direction for you. emoticon
