The above is a side view of Greek church that people come from everywhere to visit. As you enter church there is a photo in glass that has been known to shed tears.
The statue represents the young boys that dive for the cross on epitheny each year. The names at bottom are Greek boys that died in war. I took pictures from my car and couldn't get one from front.Maybe another time..The church is very ornate inside with some breath taking pictures on the ceiling and all around. You can see a little of stained glass behind statue.
My weekend was quiet and nice. I joked about quilting Bill into playing Upwords but he out smarted me. When I ask he immediately said sure.I told him that wasn't fair that he didn't give me a chance to quilt him. He laughed of course
I am doing good with my eating and exercise. So hopefully I will be where I want to be this coming Saturday.

PS I finally finished reading Brisingr.I thought I would never get it finished. You have to read almost the whole book to find out what Brisingr stands for. This was suppose to be the last book but now we have to wait for one more book to get to the ending.I went to his web site and he is in no hurry to write the last book.

I love looking at Greek churches. They built one around the corner and down the road from my house and it's gorgeous! They're working on the fence that goes around it now (well, the last time I went past they were but that's before the weather got nasty).

I hope you had a great day!!

Loved the pictures. They remind me of one in the outskirts of Athens. We attended a wedding there.
Hope you have a good day. ws supposed to go to the Dr this AM, but we have ice falling and they called and ask if I would like to reschedule. It was worse in Wichita Falls than it is here. It started sleeting there before here. Looks like I will be house bound for several more is supposed to get worse!

I keeping answering email and messages and thought I'd never get here.Just realized I didn't get here yesterday.
Nothing exciting going on anyway.
I did lose 3.6# which gives me a total 48.2# loss. I will soon be below 280 and I can't wait.It will be first time I have been below 280 since 2000.
I was going to take Bill out last night for supper but I was on the tired side so we changed it to today. Now instead of going out he will get take out tonight. We are having Greek food.Being where greek restaurants are abundant there are plenty of good ones.
I did not do good with eating but it happens. In addition to my night eating , cheese has been a real problem. I don't know why I crave it so bad. I even ate some swiss cheese again that even surprised Bill as I never eat swiss cheese. I went over my 10 o'clock food curfew by 20 minutes but went to bed at 10:30 as I was tired and to stay away from food.
Changed pillow and it helped a little bit with arms falling asleep.
The birds have been very active this morning . I am watching a blue jay now trying to figure out lattice fence Bill put up behind Delilah& Tinkerbell. He attached it to fence as it fell over on D and knocked Tinkerbell off.Bill glued her on yesterday. She needed to be glued on as Bill broke her off the day we got her and she has just been sitting in Delilah's hands instead of being attached. Now she is attached.
My daughter just called and said my grand daughter Kayla was on TV last night doing a cheerleader thing. She is one that gets tossed in the air. I will look it up on internet and maybe I will see it.
Well I need to scat.Bill just called and said his bowling was cancelled. I am still in nightgown and still have exercises to do.LOL

I missed you yesterday! I told my husband if you didn't post today I was going to contact you to make sure you were OK. I was beginning to wonder if Heidi went into labor.

I'm so proud of you on your weight loss!! That's wonderful!! emoticon emoticon You're doing great!

I'm not a big cheese eater and lately I've been craving string cheese. I always have it on hand and it's easy to take to work as well. It's better than eating a bag of chips!

Believe it or not we don't eat Greek food. I'm sure we have one in town but I wouldn't know where or what to get if we went. I think it's OK to treat yourself as long as you don't over gorge. I'm getting a juicy steak when my sister comes to town. I can't wait!!

emoticon on the 3.6 pounds gone! That's super!!

About the cheese craving - check the balance between fats, carbs and proteins. Generally, when I crave a particular food, something is out of balance. Along with the balance, look at the kinds of fats and carbs. If I'm eating complex carbs and whole grains, I usually don't crave simple carbs. If I'm getting good fats, I don't crave fats. I've noticed that I crave chocolate and cheese when I'm too short on fats. Mental stress and tiredness cause me to crave them, too. I marvel at how connected our minds and bodies are.

Today starts the weekend at this house.I am still adjusting to hubby not working on Fridays. We have changed our shopping days around etc. He has a doc appointment this afternoon and then we will go to grocery store.
I did not do as good on my eating yesterday altho no eating after 10. Have some children going thru so stuff so I do worry about them. Some with somewhat serious problems. Angel is dealing with her sister for me to save me from getting really upset but that puts extra stress on her and she doesn't need it.I told her for once she was at bottom of the totem pole for worry. As I said on a thread you never stop worrying about your children no matter what their age. When mine were all little (I had 6 in a 10 year span) I was complaining one day to an older lady and she told me something I have never forgot. She said ***Enjoy them while they are little. When they are little they will step on your toes but when they get older they will step on your heart*** How true. What is more heart breaking than seeing your children struggle and hurt and be powerless to help. But that is life and that is why God made Mothers.
Ok on to better things. My scale was down good this morning. But my weigh in isn't until tomorrow and who knows.A lot can happen in one day. I so want to get out of the 280's.Hopefuly that will happen next week if I keep my act together. I got rid of all my TOPS stuff when I left but kept all my weight books.I just dug them out and the last time I was below 280 was December of 2000.So that makes me feel good as I will be below for sure next week.
We are still having cold nights but it warms up each day.The sun is shining and it looks beautiful outside.
Well I need to finish my grocery list.

You are right about never stop worrying about your kids, mine are 28, 25 and 20 and I worry about them all the time. I also think about my granddaughter who is almost 4 all the time too. Your friend was right enjoy them while they are little, but in my case they grow so quickly I have all my kids in their 20's now. Congrats on weight loss. I am at a standstill and only have 6 lbs. to lose to hit my first goal before my son gets married Feb. 20. I keep trying but I eat no matter what and really need to focus now.

I need to get my grocery list started as well and hit the stores, just don't know for sure when that will be. Have a good weekend and keep the pounds coming off. You are doing great.

How true about you never stop worrying about your kids (and grand kids). My daughter never understood until she now has two boys in late teens and early 20's. NOW, she understands.
Hope Bill's Dr's appointment went well. He is a good guy...I knew that years ago!!!
Ted has been retired so long, I can hardly remember him working. He retired and I went to work, ha. And I have been retired since 2000. Really doesn't seem like that long.
emoticon Good for you and the scales decline! I didn't weigh in today.
Want to do my shopping???? I hate to shop for groceries and hate it worse when I have to come home and put them up!
remember inch by inch, pound by pound!!! Don't beat yourself up when you have a bad eating day...just start anew...

Do you want to my grocery list while you're at it? I haven't started mine and we're going tomorrow morning right away. It's for 2 weeks too! UGH!! Lately our grocery bill for 4 people for 2 weeks is just over $400. I miss the days it was only $250!!

That's wonderful news about your weight! HOORAY!!!

I'm a HUGE stress eater! I've been stresses lately and it's a constant fight not to snack. Up until Wednesday I was craving ANYTHING chocolate. It was awful!!

Thursday Cold Day in Florida

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Did you hear my hubby muttering to himself last night. emoticon
He was suppose to just hang the large black frame and the red frame. But. I had him move every picture around to a different place except for one on the top on right. All others were placed differently. He keep saying."I knew you would do this" I just laughed at him and said "Soooo What's your point?" He is so good to me.I may have to break down and take him out to eat this weekend.
It is a very cold day here for us.I am glad I don't have to go out.But we are suppose to be back up to 70's by the weekend. In addition to the picture hanging hubby also had to cover up plants last night. The room I am in now has outside plants sitting all over the place that he brought indoors. I positively will have to treat him to dinner .

I did good with night eating again. It isn't getting easy as around 10:30 I started wanting something else but didn't.
All my exercising is done for the day.

Our daughter Heidi who is suppose to have her labor induced on Feb 13 called and she may not make it til them. She saw doc and she is getting close.Slightly dialated and baby is in position and raring to go. So I may end up cancelling our reservations. So we could get call to head to Orlando any time.

Can't think of anything else right now.Same ole same

It has been beautiful here today but supposed to get nasty over the week end.
I can't seem to make it on everyday. But will keep checking to see the baby news.

Bill did a great job hanging your pictures. I had my hubby hanging pictures a few weekends ago. We've been in our house 2 years and hardly have any pictures on the walls. I want to make a collage through of the kids throughout the years and frame it for the living room. With all my dolphin things on the walls it doesn't leave too much room for pictures.

Sounds like you have a "green thumb". I kill almost every plant I've every had! I have a violet at work that's still alive but it hasn't flowered since I first got it 2 years ago. I had another plant at home but my cat kept eating it so my hubby moved it up high. Of course we forgot about it and by the time I remembered to water it it was too late. The only plant I do well with is ivy and I can't stand it! It gets out of control.

Cool Wednesday

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Today is very cool for us.The sun is shining but it is only around 41 which is cold here. But I am lucky that I can stay indoors where it is nice and warm.
I watched Biggest Loser last night and for the first time I really wonder if they make some things happen. I could not believe they did not send that woman home. She did not deserve to stay and the man did. I was very disappointed in the ones that voted for him to leave. The best part of show is always the end when they show how the person is doing that went home.
I just got my new TV guide and it has several BL and how they are doing today. All seem to have gained some back but most were still doing ok. Altho I watch the show I think the losses are very unrealistic and actually unhealthy.
I couldn't believe the one man who lost 40 pounds and they threw away 10 of his medicines. That amazes me.I know many medicines are elimanated as one loses weight but that seemed like a lot that quick. Ok Enough on BL

I used my crock pot again yesterday and put it in sewing room like I did before. It worked well altho I got into broth once which is nothing. My daughter and grand daughter thought I had finally truly went nuts.LOL You should have seen their faces when I took crock pot out of room.( They were at house doing some housework for me and staying for supper) So altho it sounds nuts it works and I don't care.

I also made my weekly pot of soup.I thought I was out but found 3 bags in main freezer.I gave Angel those since I just put 10 bags in little freezer. I love my little freezer for overflo of what doesn't fit in freezer of fridge. My dream fridge is one of those with two freezer drawers in bottom of fridge. I will have to just keep dreaming as they are too expensive. But you never know Dreams do come true .

I just found out I was first in the week 2 White Hawks Challenge. The hardest part was doing the fiber count. This week we are suppose to do BMI thing which I am passing on but I will do everything else. The challenge is a great help to keep me focused. The leaders are such great ladies and are so caring and supportive. Makes you want to succeed.

I don't understand these challenges, but you came in first so GREAT JOB!!! emoticon

I DVR'd Biggest Loser because of American Idol. I have last weeks and this weeks to watch. I'll catch up this weekend. Like you, I believe it's unhealthy the amount of weight they lose weekly. It's no wonder alot of them gain weight back.

Oh, to see the looks on Angel & Brianna's face when you brought out the crockpot!! emoticon
