Meant to do this earlier. But had a visitor that took some time.
One of our neighbor's ex wife died yesterday.Their daughter Rachelle grew up with my 4 youngest. She calls me her second mother. So I had to spend time consoling her and reassuring her that she did the right thing about putting her mother in hospice. It was the best thing she could have done. She was well taken care of and died peacefully.
I have been pulling my hair out getting meds straighten. I finally got it right.I hope. Ordered 7 and Bill will drop off list of 5 more new scripts I need. I have to have lists and charts to keep up.
Ok I am still doing good with calories. Not seeing any change yet and trying to be patient

  Hi Eleni........
What a wonderful guardian angel you are for Rachelle. I am sure that you were just what she needed. I also had a "Second Mother" and when she died two years ago, I grieved for her in the same way I will grieve for my own mother. She was always good to me and good for me and I will never forget her.

Don't get discouraged regarding your weight loss. It will come soon.

We had a mini snow storm today and are expecting another larger one on Friday. I guess our January "heat wave" is gone for good and winter really means it this time.

Take care my dear.........

Being a Mother gives us insight to other people's suffering. It was kind and good for you to console your friend. The med cycle can be tough to keep up with. It seems everyone around me in my circle is on several. I need to call my DR and get a check up, I bet I only have a week of my own meds left.

As far as the pounds, just keep doing the right thing and your body will respond. It takes time.

You are a caring person and I know you helped your grieving neighbor's daughter. Yes, it is hard to let go even when the person is suffering. . .I fix both my son's and my RX once a week and what a pain in the butt that is. Between his and mine one of us is always almost out of something so need to call the RX in. I just wish I was like one of my sisters who is only on one RX and she is a couple of years older--isn't she fortunate?

Hugs,

Jill

Another short one

Not much going on. Sent Bill to grocery store. He went to 3 different stores and still didn't get everything.I hate it when they are out of normal stuff. No cabbage etc.You would think they would be well stocked on weekends as that is when most people get groceries.
Roxie had her monthly trip to Petco. She even let the girl do all her nails.Bill bought her a new ball but it is too big.
Weather is not bad at all compared to most of you. It is only 54 now and won't go much lower.
I have been doing well with my tracking.Losing fluid really dropped the scale but it has leveled off so now I can better tell when I lose.
Well Need to work on med bagged.I got half done yesterday and Bill put all potassium in bags.So I should be able to finish them up tonight.
Hope you had a good weekend.Ours seemed to go by fast. emoticon emoticon

The weekends go by so fast that right now I have decided to take the day off from work just ... because! My husband has the day off due to Holiday (MLK) and I didn't do anything I wanted to this weekend. I intended to get my home office/studio painted, but at least the room is emptied out and ready.

DH and I went grocery shopping this weekend and it took nearly 3 hours and 2 stores to get it all done. Costco is great for meats, veggies, coffee, eggs, etc. but you can't really get all the little things that round it out. And the stores were so crowded! Then Sunday it was Church day for my son and I followed by lunch, so I get home mid afternoon and sometimes the day just wrings me out emotionally. I spent the rest of the day deep cleaning the kitchen after DH spent all morning grinding meat for Chili and using every pot and pan in the house. By the time I finished with that and making Buttermilk biscuits it was couch time, lol.

Today I paint! I plan to have a party with a bucket of blue paint! Can't wait until it's done.

I had a bit of a loss when being put back on water retention pills too Eleni but it evens out again.
Our store had under-ripe bananas and I had wanted a ripe one soooo badly! Aw well, I guess weekends are a hard time for some of the stores to keep stocks in.

Weekends always go by too fast. I would love an extra day since I'm sick. Everybody but Alex is sick with a nasty cold. Do Floridians get many colds? Sam asked me so I told her I'd ask you.

The grocery store I go to on Friday nights usually has fully stocked shelves but their produce department isn't the best. Last Friday they were out of thick pork chops. I ended up getting them at Wal-Mart yesterday. I admit, I'm a little nervous about eating them. I hope Wal-Mart has good meat.

  Hi Eleni.........
I noticed that the last time I was weekend shopping too. I try hard NOT to go on the weekends because it is so crowded and a lot of products are picked over or not there at all. Mid-week has turned out to be best for me.

I am calling my Dr. tomorrow morning and insisting that someone see me. When I woke up this morning my back muscles were in such horrible spasms that I could hardly get out of bed. I don't think that this is because of the flu because I had pain in the lower left side of my back before the flu hit. I have a feeling that it could be a kidney infection and don't want to let any more time go by without treatment.

Congratulations on your tracking.

I don't know if you have a lot of "snowbirds"(seasonal visitors) but we do. Every January we notice that the stores run out of stuff that all the senior seasonal people people want to buy, like bananas, for instance. Now, if I (a mere, not too bright old lady) can fiugure that out, why can't these young whipper snapper store managers figure it out?! The shelves are empty. On Friday there wasn't one single jar of crunchy peanut butter.

It has been an uneventful day. Fluid isn't gone but much improved.
Bill cooked a good healthy supper for us tonight. Baked fries, turkey burger and some tomato and cucumber slices.
Watching a dumb movie from netfliks. Some are hits and some are misses. I keep waiting for this one to get better.
Also making up my meds bags. Bill is helping by putting the potassium pills in bags for me.That is a big help.Doc increased my thyroid meds by quite a bit.He just increased it not long ago.Should help with me losing.
We are having a little cook spell but not real cold.
Bill took Roxy to dog park. She loves it
. She helped me eat my lunch.I had my veggie soup and took her some carrots an baby corn out. Then gave her a piece of asparagus I had added to soup. She liked that too.
I saw these on facebook and liked them.

I LOVE that saying about speaking your mind!! I'm going to hang that in my cubicle at work. I get in trouble all the time for speaking my mind, but sometimes it must be said.

What movie are you watching? We just watched "The Bounty Hunter", although I missed a good chunk of the movie. I had to make dinner for Addi and there was a few crying fits inbetween (she's cutting more teeth). Jennifer Aniston is a favorite of mine.

I wish my hubby knew how to cook! He can put something frozen into the oven or cook chicken on the grill but that's it. I think he could do more but he doesn't want to because then I'll expect him to help with dinner more often.

It's cold here as well, about 12 degrees right now. We woke up to snow flurries this morning. I'm done with the snow already and we had our first accumulation on Wednesday. 4 days is enough for me!! emoticon

Glad to hear the fluid is still going down. That and weight loss will help you so much. I am praying for both for you.

It is very cold up here right now. My computer room is right next to the garage and I think that I will grab a quilt to wrap around me before I do anymore Sparking. It is definitely the coolest room in our home. I envy you your warmth. I shouldn't complain because we have been very lucky with warm weather up until this Wednesday, when we had our first snow storm and the cold weather moved in. I am just being a "Baby!"

Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Saw the doc and now have to do some serious thinking. My doc wants to try dobutamine. It is normally used for people waiting for a heart transfer. I am not eligible for a heart transplant because of my weight. He wants me to go into hospital for 2 days and see if I can tolerate the med. Then a device larger than my pacemaker would be implanted and drug given every month. Right now I am on the no side. The side effects are nasty if I can't tolerate it. I need to get more information. But I can't see that much improvement to warrant doing it.
On the bright side Brianna brought us supper from Panera bread.Clam chowder in a bowl for me.
Another good thing is I have gotten a lot of fluid gone.I can breathe better and not as tired.
We are suppose to have a few cool days coming up but still better than all the cold and snow some of you are having.
Thats about it for now.

  Hi Eleni.........
Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. I have had the flu like I have never had the flu before!!!!! I feel somewhat better today, but still can't eat anything.

I am so glad to read that you are breathing better and that the fluid is down. I will have to look up Dobutamine to see what it does and what the side effects are. I am assuming that it will stimulate the heart possibly in a way that is more effective than a pacemaker. Have you talked to any other doctor for a second opinion or do you feel confident in your own doctor? I will pray that the decision you make is the best one for you.

You are in my thoughts and prayers daily my friend.

Now, I'm going to say something that you will NOT like, but I feel it needs to be said. Tilliebee said she wishes there was something she could do to help you. I'm going to TRY to do that by pointing out that 12 oz. of Panera's Clam Chowder has
630 calories(490 from fat) and 890 grams of SODIUM - Not a good food choice for someone with a serious heart problem AND water retention.

I hope you realize that my "tough love" comment comes from my concern for you.

soup recipe

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

I have like 3 various but similar ones for the Zuppa Toscano. so here is a quick version.
Ingredients
Sausage ( use your favorite)
baking potatos (Must be baking potatos as other will go to mush
onion
bacon bits (Can make your own from bacon, out of a jar or the real bits in a small bag)
garlic ( fresh or from jar)
kale
chicken broth
whipping cream( can use milk, fat free whipping cream half and half)

I didn't put amounts so you can use more or less depending on your likes
Cut sausage into small pieces and either cook in your pot or cook in oven.
You can put sausage in later or leave it in pot. I leave mine in pot.Slice your potatoes and onions and garlic and put in pot.
Cover with chicken broth. At least an inch over
Once taters are almost done add kale and bacon bits. ( And sausage if you left it out )
Simmer for maybe 5 minutes. ( If you don't have milk the soup is good just like this.
Take pot off stove top and slowly add your cream slowly. Add salt now if needed.
If you need to reheat later do it on low so you don't curdle milk
I have the hard copy of the soups and I will mail them to anyone that wants. Just private message me and let me know.leave your address if I don't already have it.

Shepherds pie is just cooked ground meat with veggies in it and topped with mashed potatoes. Can add cheese to meat or on top of potatos with some bread crumbs. It probably was originally made with lamb. I am sure spark recipes has some recipes for this
