Had an Exciting Afternoon

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Well i can't say I had a dull day today.
As I was sitting here i looked out window and saw large dog in back yard.A second later another one appeared. The yard over back fence was going nuts. They looked like they were dying for something to drink. They found it out at feel good corner. I had to get Bill come home. he was able to chase them back behind our little building and they jumped the fence into lady beside us. When Bill closed openings around shed that they had knocked down the dog from behind us got thru. If it had got thru earlier I would have had 3 dogs and probably a bad dog fight.Thank goodness i saw them as I was about to put Roxy out side when i saw them. We found out the lady next to us was keeping them for her son. They got out a window in her house. The 3rd dog ended up going into another yard. As of now all dogs are where they should be and Bill has closed off all around shed. Both dogs in my yard were twice as big as Roxy.

And here is a much friendlier visitor

and here is fall flowers Bill brought home.

My visit with my friend was very nice. She had no problems with Roxy. She use to train dogs. She came with dog treats on her and Roxy behaved. She was thrilled with the piece of Big Momma. She belongs to an orchid club and is one that talked me into taking BM to a show at her club. Everyone there was in to pampering and being so careful with their orchids. They almost had a heart attack when i told them I ignore BM and she gets huge.
My friend had someone from Australia send her some seeds for some butterfly plant. She is going to give me one once they start growing.
With so much going on this afternoon I am wound a little tight. I am used to nothing happening.
Tomorrow they come to put grass in back yard. It will really look different.
Ok I am going to go chill. Too much excitement for an old gal like me. emoticon

A wise owner keeps the small dogs separate from the big ones when they're strangers - just in case. It sounds like a real circus - too bad you didn't have a video camera.

  Hi Eleni.......
WOW.........I am sure glad that you didn't let Roxy out in that situation!!!!! They look like they could even be part Pit Bull. Not that that is bad........all breeds behave according to how they are raised and trained.......it's just that they are so much bigger than Roxy. We have to be careful not to let our 2 out alone after dark, as we have Coyotes in our area.

Relax and take it easy today........even though you are getting things done in your back yard. I know it will look wonderful.

Later.........>Patti

Oh man...you know my fear of dogs! They look so scary...pit bulls? I let Gracie out a little late a few days ago. (10:30pm)I take her out the pantry to the backyard. Larry built a big "fortress" fence and I feel safe. The pool caused a little damage and there's now a gap about a 20" at the bottom of a section. When I let her out (on a retractable leash)she took off like crazy barking and when I look there was a great big armidillo. I was able to jerk her back in, but we both were very excited! Having trouble with my nighttime eating again. What a struggle this is! So far, so good for today. Hope your day is more peaceful than yesterday!

Oh my goodness! Glad the dogs at least sort of belonged to someone but if you thought they were wild, that would have been scary!

Yesterday I had probably a hundred dragon flies in my back yard. I forgot to go at the same time today to record them. It was so strange. I don't know why I have them when I don't have any water nearby.

Have a nice, uneventful evening! I hope I have one, too!

Been a quiet day. i needed it. I had to deal with drama with my girls last night at 11;30. all is well but often wonder how they will be when I am not longer around. Supposedly I have the magic touch to make them feel better. That's good for them but drains me. See Angi.It doesn't really end.
i have been enjoying playing the new scrabble game on Facebook. I like that there is no rushing. can play 5 minutes or 30 minutes and then come back next day or whenever.
while i was playing with Kathy today I finally cleared off my desk plus another overflowing desk on other side of room.I am going to see how long it takes Bill to notice.
Supper is an experimental meal so we may end up with PB & J afterall.
It smells good but. I mixed can tomatoes, kale and some tomato soup together with added spices and used it on top of some potato slices and chicken. It will be interesting.
I hate this time of year for tv watching. They put all my favorites on at same time and same day. I have to tape what we both like in LR and what he doesn't back here and then watch the third. If it is cable I can find it late at night and get it on LR.
So I will watch DWTS and taped NCIS's and BL.
I am now getting yellow butterflies every day.

What can I say about DWTS. It was interesting for sure. The most entertaining one had to be Carson. One of best dances was JR . They showed pics of him before he was injured. So sad. Each week should be interesting.
Ok Hope you are all doing well. I am doing better.

DWTS was better than I thought it was going to be. I wasn't too impressed with most of the cast when it was annouced, but ended up enjoying the first night. Carson is a crack-up. Was hoping Ron would go - ewwww. And not really digging Rob... but we'll see how it goes!

Butterflies are pretty. I only get one tv channel here in western WA. X Factor comes on tonight. I hope it's good.
When we go to CA in the winter we get good shows like NCIS and many good ones. It's o.k. to have the one channel and we do have fast internet. and videos. emoticon

I'm glad to hear you're better, and I consider peanut butter and jelly (Polander sugar-free) on toast to be a fine dessert. I can make it a full meal sometimes, but lately I go for a big slice of onion, another of tomato, and a couple of slices of vegetable swiss cheese for lunch. Today it will be half a honeydew.

I hope you had something to eat.

I keep telling my kids that I'm getting too old for that crap, but it seems to happen any way. I used to tell them when they were kids that when they finally all left home their Dad and I was going to buy a motor home and when they found out where we lived we would pull up the steps and move!! I am sorry to hear of your drama. I wonder if it ever ends when you are a parent. Our youngest son needs both my husband and I on a regular basis and I often wonder what will happen to him when we are gone. I guess I will finally be worry-free then..........for the first time since I became a parent!

I know what you mean about the beginning of the New Shows. There are so many on at once and right now we only have one TV that we can record from!!! I chose the right guy from DWTS tonight. I just knew he would be the first to go. JR is something else in so many ways!!!

I have had lots of yellow butterflies lately too. Maybe some of them were at your house before they flew here??????

Today was another starting over day. Nothing new there.
DWTS is on tonight as well as Castle and some others. Time to set up DVD.
Bill finished potting the 3 small plants so that is all done. Roxy was throwing up again. She is sticking her nose in the flower pot and licking or eating something. She goes to vet on Thursday. i am wondering if I put a muzzle on her if it will help. bill is going to talk to vet.

Who Knew??
The average American kid will eat approximately 1500 peanut butter sandwiches by high school graduation.

On average a beaver can cut down 200 trees a year

in a year an average kid eats 45 slices of pizza ( actually I thought it would be more)

I almost thru this away as it wasn't blooming all summer.

Short Blog

The last few days have caught up to me. We have went out every day for the last 4 days. That is a little much for me. When we got home from grocery store I was just too tired to do anything.Went straight to bed for awhile. But I now have all fridge stuff washed and in bags and in fridge.
I have enjoyed the new game on facebook called Words with Friends.
Bill ended up repotting the 4 big pots.Just have 3 small ones left.
This bloom was on my yellow hibiscus but it is more orange. Glad I took the pic this morning as wind has blown it off this afternoon

Do any of you ever have a problem with too much moisture in your fridge. I have to put paper towels in my veggie bags because of it.
Ok hope your weekend was good. I am glad to see a new week begin. I did terrible this last week.

    Hi Eleni:

I know what you mean about eating out. We do that WAY too often! Some nights I'm just too pooped to cook and I HATE using my day off to batch cook.

I'm doing pretty good...holding..at least haven't gained back any of the 35 pounds I've lost..well...maybe 3 or 4...but that's still pretty good for me.

I'll probably lose weight during season just due to the crazy insane schedule I keep with the markets. That may be a GOOD thing! emoticon

We, too, have been eating out more because of taking day-trips with our company. I think you are spot-on re: the extra intake of salt when eating out. I find myself feeling very bloated and miserable.

Aren't Hibiscus blossoms something????? Perfection!!!!!

My refrigerator has a dial that can be adjusted for moisture. I had assumed that all refrigerators had this..........but I could be wrong. It's happened once or twice in my lifetime!!! emoticon

Saturday

Saturday, September 17, 2011

Well we got some errands done. Ate out again. It isn't always how much we eat out that hurts us.It is all the salt that is in food. And anywhere you eat is going to use salt.
We had to get some large pots for some crotons we bought awhile back. We never repotted them and they have to be. So we got pots and more potting soil.I also have 2 small ones I never repotted. Can not leave plants in pots they come in.Never works out for me.I even got some gloves for me to wear.Bill has some of those thin rubber ones and they just break.
Our neighbors moved out yesterday and when we came home we saw the one thing we did not want to see in the yard. A For Rent sign.We have been so lucky for all the years we have lived here to have good neighbors on both sides. This is an older subdivision that has lots of kids in most of it. This end is more older people. A few people in here are not what you want for next door. I do love my grand children but no I don't want a bunch of screaming kids or teenagers next door. Sorry if I offend those of you that have then. I raised 5 of my own and now I want quiet. Renters are not bad but in here the renters tend to not be good neighbors. I guess because they don't own the home. We may have to put more of a privacy fence up.I know I know. I am a grumpy old lady.
I did get my hair cut so I am set for while.hair and nails both done.
Ok here are a few pics. This is my last pic of big momma. She is completely bloomed. she will have blooms for weeks and weeks. Then a smaller pot with her babies that are blooming.Just some pieces I took out of big pot.

And I thought this cardinal looked neat in the tree and then one that just got himself a drink. The fountain doesn't work but water will stay in that one spot.

Then this little lizard was just hanging out.Check out the wild feet.

And what a face Abigail is making

Bill picked up another little sheet of trivia. This has some called
Who Knew???
Bubble gum contains rubber
The first toilet ever seen on TV was on "Leave it to Beaver"
A dime has 118 ridges around the edge.
There are no zebras who have stripes that are exactly the same ( I knew this )
Now don't you feel smarter. emoticon
I have more but will save them for another day.
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
I have to make my meds up tonight.Something I hate as it takes forever. And tomorrow is grocery day.

  Hi Eleni.......
I just showed the latest picture of Big Momma to Ken and he still can't believe how many blooms it puts out. You definitely have the magic touch.

I know what you mean by bad neighbors. We lived in our second home for 26 years and might still be there if it weren't for "neighbors from H_ _ _!!!" They were dealing drugs and there was a constant flow of traffic. We even had policemen in our back storage shed with night-vision equipment. I hope that you get good renters as I know how miserable bad ones can be. On the up side though, we wouldn't be living in our present home (and both of us love it) if we hadn't been forced to move.

Wow big momma is glorious! I totally love your cardinal too. You should paint him. He's adorable and the pose is perfect for a painting.

I know what you mean about renters, but permanent people can be just as bad. When I was getting up at 5:30 a.m. for my markets I called the cops a couple of times on the neighbors that were party hardy~ing still at 2 a.m. in the morning. Their swimming pool is right beside our bedroom window and the water magnified every friggin swim splash they did off the swimming pool board, the noise and laughter was ridiculous!

Lord knows...YOU DON'T want to mess with me and my sleep cycle. I fired up our burglar alarm just to blast them into reality. Our outside sirens are right on their side of the house...TAKE that you crazy party animals who are too drunk to realize that people have to get up in the morning!! emoticonIdiots! emoticon
