Unfortunately I am not doing good .My motivation is at an all time low. But hopefully it will return. Never say never.
Now on to the latest Bill story. i thought it was very funny but then I am often told I have a wired sense of humor. Monday I cooked a roast in the oven and altho I rarely have bread I thought biscuits sounded good. So I sent Bill a text. Now he can read texts but never replies or sends them.Which might have saved him some embarrassment. Anyway. I send a text that says for him to swing into KFC and pick up biscuits to go with supper. Now I am always telling him that he doesn't listen to me.Sound familiar ladies. Any way I heard him drive up and I take roast out of oven and put it on top of stove. Then he comes into the kitchen with a large bag from KFC. I asked him what he had and he said I pick up supper like you said. I then said really and pointed to the stove. His face was priceless. All he could say was oops. When I finished laughing at him I made him get the text out to be sure I haven't written the wrong thing. I hadn't.He saw biscuits and KFC and that was all.
wasn't a loss tho as he did have some good corn that went good with supper. The rest went in fridge and we had it last night. Best part was rubbing it in that he didn't pay attention to what I said
I did take a couple of pictures of 2 tomato hornworm which according the web site I found will turn into a moth. I found a great site that you can find what all kinds of things are.

oops Gotta go. We are having fresh green beans and cauliflower cooked in steamer with cube steak.Steamer is acting up for some reason.Hope you had a good day.

Hi Eleni, I've been dragging around recently and like I wrote my Spark is Flickering. Well, it's now a little brighter but I'm still not exercising like I should. I think maybe it's time for both of us to re-read the Spark as it really helps motivate me. You are always cooking so healthy--WTG!! I love your story about Bill and how he only read biscuits from KFC so to him that meant bring home dinner--LOL!! He is a keeper!!

Hugs,

Jill

  Hi Eleni.......
My motivation has been at an all-time low lately too. I am blaming the weather. This heat and humidity have sucked all of the energy out of both of us. We are in AC, but the minute we go outside we are attacked by biting flies and the heat and humidity are so thick that it is difficult to breathe. I don't know how you live in Florida in the summer. I guess that you must get used to it somewhat, but I just don't think I could handle it for the entire summer. Spring and Fall have definitely turned into my favorite seasons.
That tomato worm is scary!!! Do you pick them off your plants or spray?
Loved the story about Bill........Ken does the same thing........only hears or sees parts of messages and then makes up his own.
Later.......

At least Bill reads your texts! That sounds like a great mistake. I hope you treated yourself to the KFC for lunch.

That worm looks like an Alice in Wonderland one!

Have a nice night. I'm totally unmotivated, too, so you are in good company. Or bad, whichever way you want to look at it.

Today was a day for a lot of naps.
But I did take a few pics of Ms.Roxy. One she looks very regal, one she looks kinda mean and one shows how nosy she is. Then couldn't resist my pretty hibiscus.

Hope you are staying out of the heat.

What a nice looking pooch that Roxie is and one lucky dog to be part of your family.
Thanks so much for your vote of confidence on my recent blog. I have been so bad and have been avoiding my sparking but I think I am motivated once again. We know that we can do this if we set our minds to it. What the heck is wrong with us? Let's go gal. BTW I see you have recentley been doing well and I am very happy for you. Stick with it my friend.

Roxy is saying..."What the HECK is up with this darn heatwave?" Yes she is a snoopy dog..but aren't most of them? Our Mr. Keanu follows me around the house like a little puppy dog. He is sitting on the computer desk two inches away from me right now. When I bead he is always two inches away from me.

When I go into bed at night and read for awhile before falling asleep...he's right there beside me until I turn off the light. Then he jumps down to go bug his dad who watches t.v. til all hours of the night!

It is going to be SO hard to leave this little angel to go back to Iowa and be around people I really don't give a hoot about. I hate to even call it a vacation, because it is more of an imposed sense of loyalty to DH. I'd love to send him back alone...but who knows the trouble he'd get into at that high school 45th reunion.

After all...he's a hot item with all of his hair in a crowd full of baldies! emoticon emoticon

  Hi Eleni.........
Loved your pictures. Roxy is the perfect model!!!!
I stayed inside all day and finished cleaning out the closet I painted. When done with the cleaning, I put new shelf paper on the 5 large closet shelves. Then I put everything back in the closet. I did manage to sort out quite a bit, so it isn't nearly as crowded.
The one good thing about this heat wave is that I have to stay inside and I am getting lots done!!!!!!! The silver lining......

Not much going on. I ave a roast in the oven and the smell is to die for.
I have a few odds and ends to talk about.
First is Ms Roxy. If I had a dog house she would have been in it. I did not get up til late this morning and whenever I took a couple of potty breaks she was in her bed in my bedroom. But she had been a very busy girl. When I got up she followed me until she saw me look back here. Then she went under the little table next to the recliner.Which she stayed at until I let her out to do her business. This is what I saw.

Actually I thought it was funny but didn't let her know. She knew I wasn't happy and when she could stand it no longer she jumped in my lap when I was in recliner to get petted. Yes she has worn us out and she is allowed to sit with me once a day when I tell her.
Next.have you ever watched that program called swamp people. Wow What a way to earn a living. It is kind of interesting and sad too. One young man has a wife and 2 kids and can't read or write. He just recently learned to caught gator. He makes part of his living catching snakes. They can only catch gator for 30 days but it does look like some do very well. Others not so good. Kinda wild seeing them put a 12 foot gator in a 14# boat.
On another program about Florida I learned that when crab legs are brought in they have to be cook right away as they can't be packed in ice for long like fish.I never knew that.
On my friend Gloria's page she talked about a site where you download your picture now and it will show what you will look like after losing weight. It didn't go high enough for me but I did the max of 90#
Here is the before and after
here is link makeovr.com/weightmirror/liftupload.

Atho the heat is bad for my plants I do have some more coneflowers that are starting to bloom

Ok Thats me stopping by to chat today. Hope you had a good day.

Darn it, the weight loss site is not working. The page loads, but the tracker isn't there to slide!

It's funny how the "experts" say that dogs don't know the things they do and only react to our voices. Nuh uh. I can tell which is guilty just by how they react to something they did. Guilt is all over their little faces.

  Hi Eleni............
I have 2 "Little Roxys" and they were BOTH naughty today. Maybe it is the heat!!! Tyke snuck into the bedroom and actually went into my tote bag to find the 1 paper towel and the 1 Kleenex in the bottom, which he then proceeded to chew up and spread all over the rug. Then Miki went outside and when I opened the door to let him in, I didn't know until it was too late, that he had a garden snake in his mouth. He was so proud and I was so mad!!!!! And all of this was BEFORE 8 A.M.!!!! I do love both of them, but they can be like little kids vying for attention.
emoticon for the information re: the site.

Roxy is an angle compared to what my dog did today. He went outside right on schedule this morning and then decided to come back inside and do his business right on the floor #1 so back outside I put him until I cleaned the carpet. I swear he knows better and is pushing my buttons today. I think he is missing the cat as we are at our home on the east side of the state and the cat is at the new home. But still I was not very happy with him, he had his 15th birthday yesterday and is in his second puppyhood!! emoticonGot to love them though.
I have blooms all over the place here, I will take photos before I leave. Love your blooms. Have a good evening. Sandy

Sunny Sunday

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Another hot day in Florida.
I decided I wanted to treat myself to some crab soup. i have never made it so I asked a spark friend how she made hers and also checked out some recipes on spark. There are too types.Tomato base and cream base. I made the cream one and it was very good. I used just a little too much Old Bay seasoning and it was a little too spicy. The other type is almost just a veggie soup with crab thrown in. I saved a little crab to throw in with one of my bags of soup I always have.
I was worried that the can of crab would be mushy like some tuna fish is but it was very nice. It was claw claws and had a lot of whole claw meat and rest was chunky pieces.
I know someone will ask how I made it so here is the recipe. It is up to you to adjust amount according to your taste.

Eleni’s crab soup (milk version)

1 can celery soup
1 pint half & half ( I used fat free)
milk?? I used about ½ cup to 1 cup
About 12 oz of crab meat ( I bought a 16oz can of claw meat and used almost all of it)
Large potato cubed in same cubes
¼ to ½ small onion
Can chicken broth
1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning ( I used 1 ½ teaspoon and it was a tad spicy. I should have not added the extra ½ teaspoon)

I cut the potato into small cubes and cooked in the chicken broth along with chopped onion. Once potatoes were done I lowered the heat and I added the cream of celery soup and half and half. Then added milk to consistency I wanted and added Old Bay. Then put in crab meat. Heat very slowly at low til everything is nice and hot.

Can use as much or as little of crab meat as you want. And adjust thickness of broth with milk or half and half.
Recipe that I used as a guide said to use cream of potato soup but I thought fresh potatoes would taste better
Must reduce heat once milk products put or it will curdle.

I finally got all the grocery stuff taken care of this afternoon.
Someone in the area leaves peanuts out and the blue jays grab some. This guy was funny to watch. He was sitting on fence holding it between his feet pecking at it. Another jay tried to steal it from him.

I just looked over at thermometer we have in here that tells us temp outside. It says 98 deg. So it must be 100 or more in direct sun. That is highest I have seen.It has been at 94 the last few days.
Well I have been feeling a little crappy today so I think I will go take another nap. Hope you are having a good weekend.Be careful in this heat as it is bad everywhere.

Sorry I have not been around lately. Ted's health is not good and we have been having alot going on in our family, so just haven't had time. Things are beginning to settle down a little, hope to be back more often. Have missed you!
Talking about your weather...it is 9:17 PM and the temp. is still 100 degrees! Our weather is terrible this summer...and NO moisture. My flowers and garden have gone by the wayside! I just try to keep the lawn from dieing and some pot plants.

We are in a real tropical spell up here too. The heat index was 115 and the humidity is so high that it is hard to breathe. It is supposed to stick around all week too. I hope that it lifts soon as this is dangerous for the homeless, the elderly, and those without AC.
