A Special Day

Monday, July 04, 2011

26 years ago while out at the beach I picked up this good looking guy. 7 years later I married him.And now we have been married for 19 years.Today is our anniversary. I was lucky enough to marry my best friend who is still my best friend and the love of my life. I think having a demon or my first husband helped me to recognize a really good man. I tell people that Bill is my reward for surviving the first marriage.
I always tell my kids that talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words. Bill's actions every day show how much he loves me. I am the luckiest and most blessed woman. He is what makes me want to wake up each morning. Corny I know but he is the best.
We have been just resting today. We are both on the tired side today so we are mostly just watching TV. He is going to grill us a steak later.
Thanks for all the congrats I have already gotten.
It is so hot here. I don't see how people stay out in this. But I did it when I was younger so age must have something to do with it.LOl
Hope you all are having a great day.
Only pic I have is the yellow hibiscus bloom. We got 2 of these plants at home depot and the blooms are so huge.

ok I will give you a good laugh. The first one was before we got married. And the other one is the big day.It isn't very clear but check out the huge glasses I have on. Bill was cool as a cucumber and I was a wreck.

You both look so cute in your old timey fact neither of you have changed much at all. I love your wedding photo to...aren't those old glasses a hoot..but they were all the rage. I remember a pair I wore in high school that were very similar to what are in now..the one's with the heavy rims and the dark colors...I guess if you hold on to something long enough it's going to come back in style some day! Of course back during that period I wore my hair long with bangs and it curled in the tightest, goofiest looking sausage roll flip on the ends...but I thought I was stylin' big time! emoticon

I love the way that you say Bill was your reward for living through your first marriage I can say EXACTLY the same thing about my first husband was a bonifide nut case...lucky I made through those 10 years of hell and was able to escape with all my fingers and toes...and SOME of my sanity! Wow! emoticon

    Hi Ms. Eleni,
Happy Anniversary to a very special couple! and happy belated 4th. We had fun here, a parade for me, cookout and fireworks at home so my special son could enjoy them. It's too hard to take him to a July 4th event. I love the yellow rose and your special photos! Take care and talk to you soon,

I hope you two had a wonderful anniversary!! It's hard to find a keeper like Bill. Lucky for me I found my best friend and partner as well.

I'm loving the heat and humidity here. I have a horrible cold and sitting outside cleats up my nose. I sat in the sun at lunch today and it was so nice. The table was so hot it burned my arms and butt but I didn't care.

I love the pictures of you and Bill! My mom had big glasses too but hers may have been bigger. I'm so glad that's not the style anymore!!!

Day Has Not Gone As Planned

Sunday, July 03, 2011

I am just a little bummed because it has been one of those days.
First sign of trouble was extra aches and pains. But I was determined to go to grocery store. My main means of entertainment. We decide to get lunch and then have a every man for himself tonight.
Next hint of things not going right was lunch place next to store was packed. Ended up going to Chili's. That wasn't too bad even tho it wasn't where I wanted to go. But they had a new lunch menu which was ok.Half a sandwich combo. But I made the mistake of getting potato soup. tasted good going down but after we left stomach was rebelling. oops Just got me big just now. This day just keeps getting better.LOL Might as well laugh about it.
Next we went to grocery store and no carts outside so Bill goes in to see if they have one. Long story short I had to sit in car while he got groceries. When he came to car he said there were two teenagers playing with the carts. He told the manager when he checked out and she gave him an extra $5 off our bill for inconvenience. Thankfully I had taken my small Bubba cup with a cold drink in it or I would have been miserable sitting in car.I had to let engine run the whole time so I would have some ac.
I was glad to get home. And when we looked at bill 2 things that were suppose to 2 for1 were for only certain ones and Bill got wrong ones. So our errand day did not go so good.
Here are a few pics for today.
This is Ms.Roxy waiting for Bill to put her lease on so she can go for a walk.

here just some pretty yellow flowers and Bill's favorite purple one
Here is a mockingbird. It is hard to get a clear pic this late in the afternoon
Bill saw the trumpet vine that I showed you and broke one off for me to put in a small vase. It is pretty up close.
I have ordered another Manarda / bee balm plant. It is suppose to be a bright red. I am working on getting some good hummingbird plants. I also need to replace some of my butterfly plants. I had Bill rearrange the plants at humming bird feeder this morning. He always loves doing that.LOL Naught, But he does it anyway. My feel good corner needs some work too. And a couple statues need some repainting. It drives me crazy that I can't do this stuff myself. I hate being so helpless and useless.
Well i messed around on here so long it is almost too late for a nap. Maybe I will just stretch out for a few minutes. Hope your weekend is going good. It is so hot here.

  Hi Eleni........
If it weren't for the irritating days like you just had, we wouldn't appreciate the good ones quite as have the right idea.........laugh it off.
Just a bit of a warning on the trumpet vine. If I read correctly, it comes from your neighbor's yard and over to your tree. They can be very invasive and can take over an entire tree and almost choke it to death. You might want to keep an eye on it and cut it back if it gets too aggressive. We have one and I wish someone had warned me about how it takes over.
Hope today is better for you.

Bummer about the errands, grocery carts, not getting the 2 for 1's.
Great pix! Love your dog, Ms. Roxy! She's very regal! I like the purple flower (morning glory or what?) and the trumpet vine, too.

Why do you say you can't do this or that - the painting or cleaning/reorganizing the corner? Why do you feel helpless and useless? I must be missing something.

I just read your SparkPage and see what I missed. Didn't know you had a bad heart. So glad your husband is very supportive! I think I had you confused for another friend named Eleni.. and saw I'm not even your friend yet.. but I added you. Find your blogs interesting and we both have a lot to lost and can support each other if you like.

Must hurry as I have to start supper.Bill is lucky one taking a nap.
I had to finished making up my medicine bags and that takes what seems to be forever. But I won't have to do it for another 3 weeks.
I started back counting my calories today. Will see how I do.Weight is up and that never makes me feel good. But I haven't been eating the way I should so I am the one to blame.
Ok here is one more butterfly that came by today. I do get a lot of thee. They are the Monarch or milkweed butterfies.A very pretty one and good sized too.I think this one is a female as I couldn't see the spot that males have.
These are tough guys and travel great distances of 2000 miles during migration. They even fly across the Gulf of Mexico to get to Mexico.

It has been fun looking up the names etc in my butterfly books.
Another very hot day here. Hope your long weekend is going great

PS HOJANNAH I can't respond to your comments as you have no spark page.Do think about making one.You will met more people that way.
And any other new people. You should make a small simple page so people can send you comments

I have a bunch of guys in Indianapolis that look at my blogs - but just because they got they by being friends - or used my web page address. That means they never let me know what they're doing - which doesn't seem quite fair. Good luck with your friend.

Oh so gorgeous! We usually get them flying through here from the middle to the end of August. My Dad was driving through New Mexico once and came across a group of them migrating - he said there were thousands and thousands of them and he will never forget it!

Thursday More pics

Friday, July 01, 2011

I think Bill needs to go back to work full time.He keeps me too busy.We went and got my hair cut and had lunch. Soup and sandwich. Then stopped at Publix to get a few things as we will do reg shopping Sat or sunday. When we pulled into parking lot our grand daughter was coming out.She is now working there. It is close to her Moms house and she can scoot home for lunch and see her baby.

I have some pics to share. I have my butterfly book here and looked up info on these. The first one is my elusive Yellow Cloudless Sulfur. I have only managed to get one good pic as it only lights for a couple of seconds. My book says they migrate thru Fl in large numbers in the spring and Sept. I have only seen them sporadically in my yard.It did say some will stay in fl year long. You have to look on right side of picture and the yellow thing you see is a female. Can tell by spots on wings.Males are pure yellow. They are not a large butterfly.

this one I have taken a lot of pictures of. It is a Gulf Fritillary Longwing and is a very common butterfly around here.It is among 3 Longwings but is a bit different from the Julia & Zebra. They have the name Gulf as they are common in states that border the Gulf of Mexico.

This is an interesting bloom from a vine that is in the bamboo tree. The limb hangs over in our yard.I don't know what it is.

Here is a newer pic of the double coneflower

Butterflies are not the only things that like the blooms.
OK It is way past my nap time. It looks like we might get some late afternoon showers.Hope you are having a good day.

Post Note for yesterday- According to my book there are 560 species of swallowtail butterflies worldwide and we have 10 which is more than any other state.

  Hi Eleni........
I think that your orange blossoms from the neighbor are from a Trumpet Vine.
Your butterfly pictures are beautiful as usual. You could be a Nature Magazine photographer in your spare time.
I know what you mean about Bill keeping you busy. Ken was retired for 6 years before I retired and had the place to himself. I have never had that luxury and I think that is why I enjoy his vacations as much as he does.

Wet Afternoon

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Bill decided I was getting out of the house whether I wanted to or not. So we went for lunch at Roadie's which is a great lunch place. Then we went to get my nails done.
While there I saw the most unbelievable thing on the TV.It was a SPCA rescue thing and the dept that investigates animal cruelty. I don't usually watch this stuff. But the one horse had everyone wondering what in the world had been done to this horse. I am not sure I can describe it but I will try. About half way down it's neck just under it's mane it had a completely healed huge hole that you could see the other side thru the hole.Every man and woman plus the vets later said they had never seen anything like it. The vet even said they had no idea how it could have happened. The horse was in good shape except for that and was adopted out quickly to be use for children to ride. It was mind blowing to see.
We had another good rain this afternoon.Started around 3:30 and is still sprinkling.
Someone asked me if I ever looked up the butterflies and I did a few minutes ago.
This one is Spicebush Swallowtail

And this one is a Giant Swallowtail

According to both my books the swallowtail is among the largest and most beautiful of Florida butterflies. They are so named because of the long tails extending back from the hind wings and resemble the long tail of swallows.
Florida has 10 species of swallowtails.
They do not have to land on a flower to get the nector. They will hover in midair. That is why some of my pics looked blury at top of butterfly. It's upper wings were flapping like crazy.
Ok I need to get caught up on my emails.Hope you had a good day.
