Soup Making Day

Monday, May 16, 2011

It has been a busy day for me. But I got soup made and laundry done and some crocheting. And cleaned a messy kitchen twice.
here is what 45 cups of soup look like.

And this is what 53 calories of sweet peppers and cucumber slices look like

Trying to get back to what I was doing when I was losing weight. One was making up snack bags for the day early and having them ready. I also have some apple slices in a bag. Used a couple slices chopped up in some cereal this morning.
I am so far behind in my sparking but maybe I can get caught up somewhat tomorrow.
Bill's brother is doing ok so far. They may just change some of his meds.He hasn't seen a heart doc in 5 years. Good old HMO's.
Nothing much going on. Trying to get back on track and stay there.

  Hi Eleni......
Every time I read about your soup, I end up making some of my own the same or the very next day. Your bags of soup and snacks made ahead is an excellent idea. It really helps to keep the portions as they should be.
I hope that Bill's brother continues to do well. Ken's brother (my husband's name is Ken) is going in for hip replacement this Wednesday. He is 77 so we are concerned.
Tomorrow we take Tyke in to have his pain patch removed and his temperature taken. He is itching so bad that he doesn't know what to do with himself. We are hoping that the Vet can give him some kind of anti-histamine to help him.
Take care.

I read this today: "There's no WIN without something to beat." Remember, YOU'RE the boss of your body! 21 days food all time record! I have a trip to Mom's on Thursday-Sunday and then Sunday -Monday at my step-son's. This will be my first challenge on the road since joining WW, but I know what I have to do to stay OP! You're doing good, Sister!

Sunny Sunday

Sunday, May 15, 2011

I didn't post a blog yesterday as I just plain forgot til it was late.Decided to just wait.
As far as I know the new baby and mom are doing ok.Talked to my GD for a few minutes yesterday. She thinks she may go home today. It is very disappointing that I haven't gotten to hold her and it may be a few more days. But I am seeing a lot of pictures on facebook etc.
We were suppose to go grocery shopping yesterday but Bill's brother is in hospital.Bill is bowling this weekend and as soon as he got thru yesterday he went to find out what was going on.Didn't get home til 7pm.They even lost his brother for awhile. They were transferring him to a different hospital and didn't show up.Bill finally talked his sil into finding out what was wrong.Turned out he had some problems and they had to turn around and go back.He finally got there. Should find out today what they will do.He may need a pacemaker.
My eating has been all over the place.I gained 2# which isn't too bad.
I tried a new fruit.I have tried mangos before and didn't like them at all.But this is a mexican mango. It is shaped different and smaller than mangoes I have seen.It didn't taste bad at all and I ate most of it.

Here is the first coneflower in full bloom.I don't like it as well as the pink ones

My other red flower

This is the coneflowers I thought were dead.It will be a few more days til they bloom.

And Roxie with her new toys.
And visitors to back yard

I received so many comments on my friday post that I will not be able to respond to them all.But thank you so much for all the kind thoughts. I am very blessed to have so many spark friends.
Ok Need to get dressed so we can go get groceries when Bill gets home. It is a beautiful sunny day here in Florida.

  Hi Eleni.......
I am glad that you are having a Sunny Sunday emoticon. Our Sunday is partly sunny, but the wind gusts are up to 60 mph!!!! Not that I am afraid of being blown away (I wish!!!), but it is difficult to do yard work with everything being blown right out of your hands!!!
I know just what you are feeling re: holding that new little one. It is so difficult to wait. It won't be long.......
Have a great Sunday. That mango looks delicious. I will look for one when I go grocery shopping later.

I don't like mango either, but will give the mexican mango a go. My son called yesterday and his 5 yr. son let go of the Wii controller and it went through their new $700 tv! He's like Angel, can't seem to catch a break! They have other tv's but not as big. My daughter hinted that I should buy them a new one. I reminded her that I live month to month just like she does! My kids think Mommy can fix everything. I love my two knuckleheads!

I have seen mangoes in the grocery, and wondered if they are like peaches. The BW buys mango salsa, but it has peaches in it to0, so I'm not sure if they are sweet. Also, not sure if they will grow here.

I am a Great Grandma Today

Friday, May 13, 2011

Abigail Erin arrived at 4;43 this morning weighing 6# 14oz and 19 inches long. I have not had much sleep as I was waiting on the phone calls. My daughter Rebekah was so good about keeping me informed by phone. I even got to hear her cry shortly after she was born Has great lungs. They sent me several photos to my phone. But I didn't realize how much hair she had til Bill took camera up. She looks so much like her mother Felicia. Needless to say she is going to be a very loved baby with all the Aunts and Uncles and 3 sets of Great grandparents. I will see her when they come home and I will be able to spend one on one with them. Bill said her room was full but Rebekah made sure he got baby right away.He said both our daughter and grand daughter looked tired.neither has had much sleep. I didn't get a lot myself. But here is our newest addition.Pretty cool to be a young 65 year old great granny which is what I will be called.

Yes even tho it is friday the 13th it is a great day here

Short Blog

Thursday, May 12, 2011

Nothing much going on today.Roxie is much better and I am thankful for that. She was already spoiled rotten and she got lots of extra petting.
My beef stew turned out great.I am glad Angel was here to help eat it.She saved me from eating too much. I appreciate how she tries to help me when her own plate is so full.I made invitations for Brianna's graduation picnic party for her.I can't believe Brianna is finish with school. She is being honored with some others in a couple of weeks for her grades. Bill will go with angel.
No great grandbaby yet. I wanted to go by and see her today but she is still real sick
oops Just got a call.looks like it won't be long.

  Hi Eleni.........
Great minds MUST run in the same channel.........I made beef stew on Thursday too. It turned out great. It is definitely one of my favorite "Comfort Meals."

It isn't hard to spoil those dogs is it???? Tyke has really been getting lots of extra attention lately. He looks so pitiful with his cast on. He limps around here like "Tiny Tim." He seems to be doing OK in every area except eating. His appetite is at ground zero.........and that is definitely NOT like Tyke. He can afford to lose the pounds, but I don't want it to interfere with his healing.

Will close for now. Have a good Sunday.

I love beef stew...I usually use left-over roast, potatoes, carrots, onion, and peas. Gotta have the gravy, of course! I've had a good day, but not very productiive as far as housework goes. Jen needed my help picking up Alex, bringing him to her work, and dropping off prescriptions. It's beginning to look like I'll have two of my other grands for most of June(6 and 5) along with watching the two in town for 3 days a week while mom is at work. (8:00-5:00) Another reason to get healthier! ALex is 11 so he's a big help.

A Much Better day

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Today has been much better. Roxy seems to be much better too.
My special friend Bobbi wrote a whole blog dedicated to me. How could anyone be in a bad mood after reading such nice things about themselves. But she gives me way too much credit. I am so grateful to my spark friends for taking me as I am. That is what i do in return. I am not as near special as she thinks but i will just keep that a secret. I was very touched and also for all the other friends that have been trying to cheer me up. You are indeed the best.
I also have been trying to get back on track today and so far have done well.I only exercised 10 minutes but I tried to talk myself out of that. But I finally made myself go back there. My eating has been good and I am tracking calories. i baked some sliced potatoes and fish covered in chopped can tomatoes with some steamed fresh cauliflower. Have plenty of calories for later.
I am working on trying to not let my children affect my mood and eating so bad. I don't know how I am going to do it but I must find a way. It is getting too hard on me. They are grown ups and there is nothing I can do to solve their problems.
Ok I am still way behind on my posts. But today was much better Much love to you all
PS I just went out with Bill and watered my orchids. The one I showed you with only one leaf and lots of blooms was dead as could be. But here is a small one that is blooming for first time. And then another you have seen but it is now full bloom. I am always surprised at how long the blooms last.I still have the yellow one in house with blooms that have been there for weeks.

Then my big boy cactus was leaning almost completely over and I propped it up with a small pot.

I think the best thing to do in life is tell someone how much you love them while they are still here to hear all about it...too many people wait to say nice things at might let your kids read that blog too...hint, hint...THEY of all people should know how special their 'momma bear' is! emoticon emoticon

Good that your feeling better. I know what you mean about the worrying, I did the same thing until last year when I figured out that the kids never worry about me so why should I worry about them.
I still have empathy for them and love as always but figure that if they really need me they will call. So my worry free days give me much more time for other things. Maybe you can use this approach to the situation with the kids.
I love the cactus fix, hey don't try and repot it will take forever to grow more. I did that once and it stunted its growth for two years.
Happy that Bobbi wrote a blog about you because I feel the same way as she does. Have a wonderful evening. Sandy
